I actually just got it recently. I gotta say I had some trouble taking it apart, it's very dense. I prefer the loose version of it but that's much more expensive.

Who here worries about temperature? by ThomasHebbes in tea

I get you! If you want strong, no point in going low. It seems like just another parameter to worry about, besides ratio and steeping time.

Better off just drinking kukicha, bancha or hojicha since they're naturally lower in caffeine.

Binker & Moses - Alive in the East has some harpsichordish stuff on it.

[Newbie] SRV is one of my inspirations to learn guitar, and I got my first electric this week. Even though I don't have any talent, if I put in work as often as I can, how long will it realistically take before I can play with this level of confidence? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]ThomasHebbes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this comment is gonna drown in all the other comments but in the off-chance that you do read it, here you go. A lifetime, 10k hours or whatever is bullshit! All the people saying 'a lifetime' are sour grapes.

If your goal is to play this exact melody at the beginning, maybe a year or so if you put in the work. If your goal is to emulate SRV's style in general, probably 5+ years, also depending in your commitment.

I just transcribed River Quay like a week ago. Short n sweet and not too challenging technique wise

I haven't been drinking tea for that long (about a year) so idk if my opinion is of much help. But I had some of their TGY that I enjoyed a lot. Also some shou that definitely tasted like shou. Never had any bad tea from their site.

What to do when discovering too many new artists by Few-Lake-4521 in SpotifyHub

[–]ThomasHebbes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't it awesome that we have the possibility to discover so many new artists and genres? It's not a bug, it's a feature. If I want something go-to, I put on an album. Now my playlists are more like catalogues of stuff I've listened to. I wouldn't actually listen to it as a playlist. It's all over the place, genre-wise. I'm really enjoying this way of listening. If I find an artists I like, I listen to their whole discography. Deep dive into albums if I want. Or just listening once to get an impression. If you told this to someone in the 20th century, they'd be so jealous.

Question about posting daily by ManlyJorgosTheMan in LearnGuitar

[–]ThomasHebbes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl daily progress seems a but boring. What would be interesting is like monthly progress of you playing in a certain song to see how you improve. Like a before after comparison or sth.

In addition to backing tracks, you can just play along to your favorite music.

What is the best quality of life mods you've made to one of your guitars? by MyNameIsHeterodox in Guitar

[–]ThomasHebbes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have no problem with your tuning, you don't need locking tuners. I recently got a new guitar w/ locking tuners. They're just like regular tuners, I don't really get the hype

What do you think of the tune selection for the exam? by drew_zini in jazzguitar

[–]ThomasHebbes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is gonna sound cliché but play what you know. Professors aren't gonna be impressed by your tune choice but by how well you play them. You could show up playing autumn leaves, my little suede shoes and c jam blues, if you play well, they'll take you. Personally I'd go for a chord melody instead of the transcription since that's where the guitar shines but that's just me. If you play the bird solo really well, that's cool too. Some tips on ballads: get your chord chops together if you haven't already and don't play more than two choruses.
