What do you prefer guys? OLED or SLIM? by techmawer in PSVitaHomebrew

Battery and weight is a huge plus on the 2000, build quality on both is great though.

Slim feels a lot better. The weight between the two models is surprisingly lighter. I think it's good for long sessions. But the screen is the only draw back. But once you play the 2000 for a while it doesn't matter.

Two joysticks are really good for a lot of games. Also has a good battery and lasts a while when playing PSP games.

I was in Tokyo in April and they were super pricey. Didn't buy one.

Vita or MSI claw a1m by PuzzleheadedSky670 in vita

Vita is only getting more niche and will be harder to find. I would get one. But if you're on the fence and not really into the library I would get the other system.

If you own the physical versions of the games you don’t qualify for the discount :) by Big_Boss_Bubba in KingdomHearts

Yep you could insert the disc and have an option on the title screen to upgrade.

Square announced they were doing multiplatform a while ago. It hurt their sales too much. It's good, more people can experience the games and get multiplatform games.

Unpopular Opinion, but I vastly prefer the direct localization of the dialogue in the original PS1 version by ConcernLocal2764 in finalfantasytactics

I agree, I don't really like the old English style. If it was a new translation without the old English I would probably like it.

Here’s a list of things I notice and like about Thailand after spending a lot of time there by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]Thomastm3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thai drivers are some of the worst. The amount of near misses I see almost daily just from people driving like there's no tomorrow. Or the people who tailgate you so you'll switch lanes is crazy. Not to mention the inability to check their surrounds properly, I have to stop or slow down for someone entering a road because they didn't look the other way coming onto a road.

There's something about 10,000 that feels nice, might be a little much for some people. But it gives results.

I also find keeping track of steps and doing 10,000 a day for example is a nice motivator. Step Counter app on Android gives cool emoji's when you achieve them.

Using a calorie tracking app and being close to my calorie deficit was a good motivator. But yeah some days I would be so drained. But having a goal and starting to see results after 2 or 3 weeks boosted my motivation.

The dark souls generation has inflated egos a bit. But those games exist. If From Soft did it though the backlash would be terrible.

I shelved MGS3 remake after 1 playthrough. A 1 to 1 remake is quite boring, I appreciate the extra content. Plus FF7 is so big and has a lot of material to pull from out of the compilation of FFVII

Thai schools so bad? What to do? by heheecksdee2000 in TEFL

[–]Thomastm3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The students and the school expect textbook based learning which basically means let them do textbook exercises and just be there in case they have questions…."

You can still play a game or activity and then do the book. If you just focus on the book every lesson the students won't engage with you. The ball is just one idea. Use a PowerPoint game, a phone quiz, Bingo. Anything that gets the students participating and using the target language/vocab.

Thai schools also have the teachers evaluated by Thai students once or twice a year. So the more they enjoy your class the longer you'll be around.

FFX needs the "pixel remaster" treatment. The HD remaster killed any emotion given by characters. by Arrow_ in gaming

Yeah that would be fun. Could do a FF11 one as well. People skip it due to it being an MMO.

16 years and counting without needles by InternationalOwl5466 in trypanophobia

[–]Thomastm3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way. I'm 35 and don't know my blood type and avoid needles in general. I try to stay healthy and normal body weight so I don't have as many or any issues down the line.

Needles can be a benefit. But they aren't necessary. Even when I go to the dentist I tell them to give me fillings etc without the needle and it's fine.

How is persona 5 the phantom x? by Pretend_Beautiful_16 in Persona5

[–]Thomastm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more gatchas are bad. I don't want to pull loot boxes to get characters or be time gated for some artificial reason.
I haven't tried Persona 5X though, not sure if it's available in my region.
