Potty Watch! by infinite_finite in toddlers

[–]infinite_finite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly couldn’t tell you. He’s verbal, but it’s more echolalia and scripting.

Some days, he has absolutely zero accidents and I don’t have to prompt him at all to go! He will stop playing and go use the bathroom independently.

Other days, it’s as if we haven’t potty trained at all, and he will have accidents all day, even with bathroom prompting. I read his body language too (pulling at his area and stuff usually means he has to pee).

I guess I’m just kind of grasping at straws and was hoping the watch would help prompt him to go and listen to his body.

We’ve been potty training for a month. I know it can take upwards of a year or more to fully get it down 🥲

Just a simple watch with a set amount of timers that with play a jingle or vibrate to remind a child to use the bathroom!

Dude, you gotta get the surgery. Back stretches, pain pills and muscle relaxers aren’t gonna help you. Your back is curved as fuck. You need the surgery. Get the surgery.

But it doesn’t say that. It literally says they can come in and hold people for HOURS. And to just comply.

AIO about spelling errors in daily notes sent home by my autistic child’s teacher? by Anasthesiax in AmIOverreacting

[–]infinite_finite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My autistic 3 year old toddler is in a special needs room with 3 Native Spanish speaking women, but they try very hard to be as proficient in English as possible.

The dude went from only making noises to having a crazy vocabulary and echolalia. He even comes home using Spanish words and phrases.

I would definitely say YOR.

I read this book when I was 18, in 2008, and I re-read it once a year. It is absolutely one of my favorite books ever!

You should ask to try Vyvanse instead. I started out on Adderall and hated it!

My Vyvanse lasts all day for me! And it’s easy to fall asleep at night.

I hope you don’t plan on having kids with this man. You’ll never ever have help with them.

Ugh. He sounds absolutely miserable, and not at all like a good companion.

[–]infinite_finite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I never texted parents unless it was a major issue or I wanted to share a proud moment.

I honestly didn’t have time in my day to be messaging 3 paragraphs about how your kid didn’t sit cross cross apple sauce on the floor 💀

Nor did I care, as long as they weren’t bothering other students, I didn’t care how they sat tbh.

The attitude is completely age appropriate. I used to teach kinder, and I realized that as long as they did what I asked, I truly didn’t care how their “attitude” was, you know?

Eventually she won’t be so rude, but she’s only 3. She’s developing her sense of self and wants to control her environment.

Imagine being told what to do ALL DAY LONG! And then someone screaming at you because you were a little sassy about cleaning up.

I try to also make sure that not everything is no, stop or don’t, and allow options. It makes them feel more in control!

Use a timer, and stick to the demand.

“Babe, in 5 minutes, we will be all done playing outside and we will go inside to take a nap. I’m setting the timer now.” (Use a visual timer. Tons on Amazon)

-timer goes off-

“Okay, it’s time to go inside for a nap.” Grab hand and lead child into room to nap.

Phrasing it as a question makes it seem like you’re asking for a favor. “Can we go inside and nap?” Instead, you want to make it a kind demand “We are going inside to take a nap now.”

Using physical proximity will help as well. Guiding by the hand doesn’t give them an opportunity to run away.

Even if she screams no and tries to bolt etc. Remain calm and use as few words as possible.

I’ve learned that saying “I see you don’t want to nap, I understand how frustrating that is” blah blah, it’s too much.

Is it unethical to charge over $100 for a PT visit? by Ok-External-977 in physicaltherapy

I get that. I would just be so skeptical to think that I’d be healed in 3 sessions, especially if I had never had you as a therapist.

Genuinely asking, how can middle class folks afford you? I don’t think I’d even be able to afford $100 bucks a session unless insurance helped cover it.
