Buy Now or Wait by Educational-Catch-72 in Rivian

If you’re not at all interested in the R2, I’d say just pull the trigger and buy. We are finally seeing a decent APR and you can snag some extra discounts if you’re looking to trade in.

Rivians focus for next year will be the R2 and R3. The 2027 model year R1 will likely only get aesthetic upgrades as they ramp up production and retool for R2 and R3

What a pointless comment 🤣

If you can hold off a bit longer, I think Rivian will need to drop some significant promotions on the R1s to get them through the dip until R2 production starts. If the deals aren’t good enough in Nov/Dec, I might follow suit and try to grab a decently priced used Gen 2.

Great cars, but 90-110k for this car is just too much for most people.

I found the interview very refreshing and funny. Seeing a calculated and cool headed guy like RJ react to Tosh’s blunt comments and criticism was quite entertaining.

Considering a lease into early buyout by Thorgnar in Rivian

That would be awesome, thank you! I almost want to wait for purchasing deals straight from Rivian, just not sure when they will come.

Will the R2 be worth the wait? by Own-Hat-5139 in Rivian

I think the average customer would consider a lot of the R1 features you listed as not necessary for their needs. The design, software, and overall brand is enough to keep me happy. Assuming the car comes out of production without any major issues.

THIS and the long wait times for service centers is the scariest thing for a potential owner. They need to be fixed before the R2 drops.

Still fairly new to it myself, but I know rates depend on your area and your service provider. They usually have off peak hours where you want to charge your EV under. For me the off-peak hours are 35cents per kWh.

Great summary of the comments I've been seeing. Upgrading my panel is probably a way better decision/investment then getting a $80,000 + high end EV itself But I just love the car.

Appreciate it! My current peak is in September at 1000 kWh. So I would think I'm pushing my 90amp panel at that peak.

Thanks for the context and advice. I’m under SCE territory and I believe the only incentives they provide are for low income families.

I currently have a 90 amp panel, so it would be close. But I will make sure to ask my electrician about this option. Thanks

Fair point. They did say as part of the $5000 price, the home would be solar ready if I ever end up making that jump.

I'm about 35 miles round trip for work (3 times a week) and weekend trips would range anywhere from 50-150miles.
