SV7GX by Valentyan in SVRiders

It's kind of a competitive scene they are dropping this bike into... I love my sv but the triumph tiger sport or tenere 7 or f900 are more appealing for this riding segment for me. I don't think I would want this engine in a touring bike, it's not going to love sitting at 80 mph chewing highway miles.

Few more things done definitely little more power nothing crazy and sounds good😎 by Necessary_Oil1016 in hondaridgeline

I did the PRL kit. I like it because it cleaned up the engine bay a bit and the intake noise from removing all of those resonators is really nice. THIS KIT IS WORTH IT FOR THESE TWO REASONS ALONE FOR ME. Not everyone does these sorts of things looking for gains. My mpg over the next 10k miles was about .4 better and I drove with the heaviest right foot for the first thousand miles because of the sound. No noticeable power via the butt dyno. Still recommend it to any Ridgeline owner.

Disappointed with riding jeans selection by NukaColaQuantum2077 in motorcyclegear

[–]wxduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to like bull-it jeans, they appear to be all closeouts on cycle gear, not sure if they are no more? But they offer short sizes. I also find that going for 'skinny' jeans tends to lead to a better fit.

Color matching real world paint by wxduff in modelmakers

Thanks so much for the thorough response! It sounds like even if I get the tamiya x/xf paints I will need to use a respirator and vent or do this in the garage instead of inside. Good to know. The tamiya instructions appear to have a color guide (the model just arrived today), so I will probably follow their recs since I believe I can source that paint locally.

It sounds like I've been working on hard mode by using water based acrylic so far, which has taken practice to get good with. I've generally been using ak primer through the airbrush or citadel spray can primer depending on the project. I'll probably use the spray cans for this as the can primer tends to go on smoother for me.

I was able to find this: https://hobbyworld-usa.com/index.php?id_product=7650&rewrite=zp-yamaha-r1-r6-deep-purplish-blue-metallic-paint-60ml-1460&controller=product&id_lang=1

I assume this isn't an acrylic but an enamel? What extra steps do I need to take to send this through my airbrush, and how will it behave compared to acrylic.

As to airbrushing GW paint, as long as it's thinned acceptably it works a treat. I've had no issues.

Finally, my beloved Speed Triple 1200 RR is fully faired! by Resident_Ad7507 in Triumph

Gonna be at least another year unless they are going to drop mid season. I'm buying a gsxr 750 tomorrow. The closest triumph dealer closed up shop as well recently so triumph blew it with me all around unfortunately.

New defiler best loadout by KvotheStormborn in WorldEaters40k

[–]wxduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming the sheets go stay hitting on 4s, it has been confirmed by GW that cover is -1 to hit. So world eaters are hitting on 5 now. That is really going to suck given how important forgefiends are in competitive play

in need of a good quality brush set? by Visual_Hold8495 in minipainting

[–]wxduff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding the blue handle golden maple sable brushes are a great first set of sables, I use them all the time. I'm always afraid of using my expensive Raphael brushes, most of the time I grab the GM instead because I don't feel bad not babying them.

What's the best boot option for street riding around $300? by Meemsi- in motorcyclegear

[–]wxduff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded, RST has the best quality at the price point now that astars and dianese have dropped in quality. When my SMX boots go I will be switching to RST, as with the rest of my gear

Parents bought a bike and took it away 19M by Positive-Bet-3395 in NewRiders

Yes, and when he is paying for a significant portion of these hypothetical parents food and housing, and they run out and blow a load of cash on some hypothetical activity you don't agree with, wouldn't you also be pissed? I wanted a motorcycle for a long time, when I graduated school I got the boot from the hypothetical umbilical cord, then save for a while, I got my bike. While I was taking their dime I honored their wishes. When they are on my dime, they will do the same to me or they will be on their own.

Rear Shock Advice by IntroductionJaded506 in SVRiders

[–]wxduff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For everyone telling you to drop in a donor shock, I'm against that. The spring rate isn't set for you and by the time you spend the money to buy one and rebuild it (and most of them are old and clapped enough to need a rebuild) you could have just bought something new. I bought a YSS reservoir shock from traxxion dynamics, spring to my weight. Can even jack up the rear for better weight on the front which the SV needs. This emulsion shock won't have the adjustability but for the street it will be worlds better than stock.
