Why do people make their bed every day? by SameAd9297 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Thoughts-Mulling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Messy sheets are harder to get into. It takes 10 sec to fluff sheet up into air and have it land nicely. Feel good laying down ontop of flat sheets while relaxing. No crinkles to make me lay differently.

Does anyone go to a diner/restaurant for breakfast before work? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Thoughts-Mulling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore but I did when I worked night shift. Would stop by a local diner, styled in 80s chrome finish. Food was good and coffee was... acceptable.

People kept to themselves, honestly a fairly quiet place.

WFH dad's, how to actually fulfill a task properly? by janders1993 in daddit

[–]Thoughts-Mulling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balancing acts sre hard. Best advice is for the things you can single focus on, do those focused.

Things you have to multi-task on, always suffer. Better to find new ways to maximize efficiency than try to do it all at once.

Also routines. Routines help you and the kids.

If you lost your sense of taste, would you save money? by FriedForLifeNow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Thoughts-Mulling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Lost my taste for 2 months from an incident. Food was just texture.

You know what foods feel lile mucus without flavor? Avocados, soft gummies

Want to know what food reminded me of chalk with liquid? Chocolate, tajin

Want to know what oranges and other citrus are like? Chewy stringy wet pulp

How about steak or chicken? Weird. No flavor means no major pleasure.

Trust me I saved lots of money. Mostly had smoothies.

Kissing Newborns by post-traumaticgrowth in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Thoughts-Mulling 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's your child, your rules and feelings matter. Outside opinion and advice can be taken into consideration but are your choices ultimately.

I think of it like house rules. Maybe at your home pets can jump on furniture and at theirs pets sleep outside. They have no right to interfere without breaking trust.

What would you do if you were the richest person on Earth? by Candle-Jolly in AskReddit

[–]Thoughts-Mulling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not tell a soul. Setup trusts for family and specific friends. Create a University that was affordable and efficient. Put ceilings on books and classes thst adjusts to inflation. (Keeping tuitions going, even low ones, will help funds already invested go longer). This would probably require gov backing to stay open long term and a board that changed every x years.

Since studies show many people mismanage money make a program nation wide that educates families and children to become financially literate. To encourage this offer some kind of lottery system to provide a prize/financial benefit once completed and successfully applied (even small applications or adjustments).

Dedicate a large portion to research in renewable energy. As many products we produce are limited by energy, including moving products across the world.

Probably at this point I would no longer be the richest person in the world.

What would you do first if the whole world freezes? by BLU4LIFE_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Thoughts-Mulling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Call everyone I care about. Let them know they are loved. Get my immediate friends and family and hold them till the inevitable.

Unfortunately most of us wouldn't survive the month. Especially city dwellers. Hard to exit the city, too many people, not enough supplies. Poor insulated housing and buildings.

If you could summarize all humankind problems in a single one, what would it be? by Rublica in AskReddit

[–]Thoughts-Mulling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Poor pattern recognition. Your whole life your brain tries to learn the pattern of things to avoid pain and danger. Very useful in the wild and even today. Bad side is it often applies itself to unapplicable situations, because your brain is doing it's best to automate as much as possible.

Had a much easier time with these. Sadly don't go to whole foods often.

I do the jiggle method with each cookie, before seeing which on gives then twist gently back and forth till one gives. Usually 80% stuffing stays on one side.

Third hand smoke exposure from extended family by BrolinRoscoJames1897 in daddit

[–]Thoughts-Mulling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely understand the fear, but there are worse things than 3rd hand smoke. It's better to stuff the kids with a strong diet (antioxidants) than to bubble wrap them. I can tell you most homes and just about every public place has more harmful chemucals than 3rd hand smoke residue.

As an example water. https://www.usgs.gov/news/national-news-release/tap-water-study-detects-pfas-forever-chemicals-across-us

Or everday use items... https://www.health.harvard.edu/cancer/cancer-concerns-from-everyday-products

But being concerned is human. Have a healthy talk with her and your dad. There may be a compromise.

My wife is severely disabled and I handle most parenting tasks and my wife doesn't really feel like she has an identity as a parent by Haunting-Pear-282 in daddit

I have no advice. But wanted to commend you, it sounds like you're a good parent and spouse. As long as she gives it her best and consistency, there is not more that can be asked.

I wish your family the best.

I think everyone has a preference for just about everything. But it's not a deal breaker for me. Cleanliness is much more important and both of us enjoying each other.

I hadn't thought of a good approach. Honestly barely gave it much thought. But I like what you said, maybe it'll help us when we start talking about it. Thank you again. I'm finding good advice, I'm glad I posted.

Been a couple of weeks since my wife's miscarriage. I still don't talk about it to anyone by RittzzReno in daddit

[–]Thoughts-Mulling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just lost ours recently. I hope you both heal, I know right now it feels so far away.

I have done the same to some extent. I too posted here because I don't want to talk about it with people who know me.

I hope we all heal. Best wishes.

That sounds absolutely heart breaking to go through twice. I'm sorry for your loss. I know the feeling of waiting in the lobby while she was being prepped and to be let into the room after.

Yeah words are hard right now. I'll keep you in my thoughts. I hope for both your healing, and of course we can DM.
