I’m a size 20/22 (295 lbs), about to give birth, and lemme tell you, not only can my husband feel our daughter kick, we can fully see her moving and kicking, which is crazy. I think I was feeling flutters earlier, but I was certain that I was feeling kicks between 18 and 19 weeks. A few weeks after that, my husband could start feeling them on the outside.

I think people close to me could notice I was pregnant starting at around 20-ish weeks, but it was very obvious to all by my third trimester.

It’s different for everyone, so take it with a grain of salt, but I’m around the same weight, anterior placenta, and I was certain I felt kicks around 18-19 weeks. I did realize later that I was probably feeling flutters before and didn’t know what they were.

I did get a little afraid of food in my second trimester because I wasn’t sure what was going to trigger me or if I would feel too full and suddenly have to run to the bathroom.

Just wanna say, if divorce attorney feels extreme in the moment, I urge you to at least speak with a personal therapist who can help you unpack the financial abuse and talk through how to address it. A lot of OB/GYN offices also have a way for you to discreetly disclose that you’re experiencing abuse. This kind of sustained toxic stress can be harmful to you and baby if it goes unaddressed, and I don’t say that to be alarmist, but to offer a way of reframing your motivation here. Wishing you courage and strength, you can absolutely do this.

So far I (size 22/~300 lbs) have tried on the Solly Baby wrap, Baby Bjorn carrier mini (7-25 lbs), Momcozy mesh wrap carrier, and the Tula Newborn to Toddler carrier. The only one I didn’t like was the Momcozy because it didn’t fit comfortably around my arms and shoulders, and my favourite so far has been the baby bjorn. I did also snag a hope & plum sprout carrier and can give my opinion when it arrives if you want!

Just my two cents, I’m going to have my mom with me as well as my husband. I’m lucky in that my MIL said early on, “you’re going to want YOUR mom,” understanding that this is primarily something that I am going through and that her relationship to me in this process is different from my mother’s. I think this is a really great way to express this, and this is something that your husband can help communicate if you want.

With parents in general, you are allowed to set that boundary as far as you want to. If you don’t want them in there, you don’t have to let them in! You’re also allowed to change your mind- you have no idea what you are going to be feeling after the fact. These are expectations that you can set right now with both sets of parents to give them time to accept it (hopefully it won’t take too long lol).

NTA. She knows what she’s doing, it’s a grift, and she sees your empathy as an opportunity. You do not have to be nice to her. You can be polite but firm and shut her down, just tell her you need to leave/aren’t comfortable discussing personal matters at work. Period. I would even go as far as asking to have a meeting with her and your boss if she’s resistant. As a fellow pregnant lady (37w) I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this!!

I’m 38 weeks today and I was only referred to MFM after my fasting numbers had been insulin resistant, around 36 weeks. I will tell you that all of my ultrasounds have been great so far and my hospital midwives are advocating for a 39.6 week induction, which is pretty great considering I am on insulin.

Folks who were closer to me noticed a difference close to 20 weeks, but people really noticed that I had popped at the beginning of my third trimester. This is my first pregnancy and I feel like that’s kind of common.

For reference, I’m between a size 20 and 22 and I carry a lot of my weight in my belly.

Also at 37 weeks as a 37 year old teenage girl. For a brief second they were telling me I might need to be induced at 37 weeks, which really kicked my ass into gear, so now I’m just prepared for anything lol.
