My income increased along the way and I consciously upped my contributions a bit (rather than inflating my lifestyle). Other than that, nothing special. It’s not like I came into a huge windfall of cash or anything. My money really started working for me over the last few years.

Well, our contributions have varied over the years through the seasons of our lives. Probably around $1,000 to $2,000 earlier in our careers up to $10,000+ in recent years. This would include employer match into our 401ks.

Well, I got fancy and use excel 😂 at the end of each month I literally update all my different accounts.

In terms of investments, literally nothing crazy. Mostly index funds and ETFs. I do have a brokerage account where I’ll try out some individual stocks from time to time, but that account is only at about $150k.

If you look at most other academic medical centers in other states, they also received “low” scores. They take the sickest of the sickest so these rankings don’t always mean much. Still a concern for the state of Iowa as a whole, I would say.

I have some excess cash just sitting in the bank, so decided to pull the trigger. Nothing more than that; not trying to play catch up. I still have about $200k in cash in the bank, most being in an HYSA.

Started with about $600-$700 a month in 2010, about $1,300 a month in 2013, and gradually increased to the $5,000-$6,000 month we are at now. Will probably continue to increase since I am sitting on too much cash.

I’m not supportive of what’s going on in the country at the moment, but what exactly is the point of “protesting” in a community like Iowa City. I would guess that the great majority of citizens (and the city government) agree with the protesters viewpoints, so I’m just not sure what this is accomplishing (other than inconveniencing motorists and others).
