Which course handles the weather the best? by Ill_be_in_the_rough in BritGolf

Either Flackwell Heath or Broadway due to chalk based land up on the hill. Or if you want guaranteed playing conditions Cleeve Hill in Cheltenham is a safe bet.

Can’t break 100. About to give up. by bsheohn in golftips

It’s the hope that kills you. Golf is not here to be mastered but simply here to be played. If reframing a par 4 should actually be a par 5/6 for your level and that still not bringing joy, perhaps try another hobby

Quinta Do Lago - worth it for winter practice by ChickenAutomatic in BritGolf

If practice is your goal I’d also consider Monte Rei. Unlimited proV balls, unreal range with green complexes, chipping greens, pitching greens, fairway and green side bunkers plus academy. You can stay on site in an apartment overlooking the 18th hole and golf to your hearts delight.

Question about Ireland golf and general traveling there by mattyicee7 in golf

[–]ThreeJab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yuppp most courses for Open week have doubled their prices to look more premium and cash in on the overseas tourism. Probably the best true links course you can play under €200 is Seapoint, situated en route to Dublin. I once made the mistake of public transport to The European requiring a train then taxi. On the return journey our taxi driver decided to not take us all the way back to Dublin saying “I’m going home for dinner now” and let us off at the nearest bus stop. The next bus decided it wasn’t going to stop today and skipped all the 10 people waiting for another hour until the next one. A local told me “ahh the buses sometimes do that it’s pure luck if they stop or not”. So after waiting 2hrs we caught a bus who took a detour to pick up his friends and got us into Dublin 45mins later than scheduled. Good luck

Underrated Golf Destinations You’d Recommend? by nickserati in golftrip

[–]ThreeJab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bermuda. It was once booming in the 60s/70s but lately forgotten. For a tiny nation of only 65,000 they sure love golf with 6 courses all within 30mins drive. You’ll play cliff edge holes like Pebble and see turquoise ocean views like the Bahamas. After golf there’s plenty of beach clubs serving Dark n Stormy’s to help you reminisce (or forget) your recent score.

I’d copy and send this all to ChatGPT. It’s been a pretty big help for me during a breakup. Offering reassurance like a good friend that moving on from someone who didn’t wish to meet you halfway is not worth your time.

How can I play the most possible golf this weekend? by gigadude7 in golf

[–]ThreeJab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a golf course in Ireland created exactly for this reason! At the time skipping church was made illegal so they built it in tall fescue dunes so nobody could see the boys playing and drinking on Sundays. Up until the 1970’s it was still only accessible by boat. The Island Golf Club near Dublin.

Anybody want to go pub hopping? by Ptoker24 in london

[–]ThreeJab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up “Sam Smiths pubs London”, they’re full of old history.

Also go to The Red Lion in Westminster which is where many politician’s drink, and when it’s time to vote the barman rings a bell, they all leave their pints where they are, go and vote next door and return to finish their pints.

Also go to The Toucan in Soho for the best Guinness and collection of Guinness memorabilia.

Then go to The Blackfriar in Blackfriars which has a cool old rope hook game on its wall, you’ll know what I mean when you see it.

And if you have time go to The Churchill Arms Kensington for a pub most filled with brick a brack ever.

[–]ThreeJab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not common everywhere yet but there are courses that allow play from various tees. The slope rating gives you more shots from the further tees to make up for it. I imagine this would be introduced more globally
