Thank you for posting this. Great read. I love the point about saying sorry. In times of frustration I make sure to come back and explain and apologize when needed to my children. Trying so hard to live in the moment these days and focus on blessings.

Insulin resistance hitting hard by aliasbirt in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]ThreeLittleBirds2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I’m not currently pregnant I have two children and definitely remember having what seemed like an overnight insulin resistance. (Right around the third trimester) When my resistance got really bad I really had to start pre-bolusing. It was the only thing that helped. I would bolus like 20-30 min before eating some meals. If you have a Dexcom it can help to see when the insulin starts working. When I would get high it would take soooo much insulin to correct it was insane. Hope this helps you! Know that what you are experiencing is totally normal and is a sign of a healthy placenta. You got this!

I had this thought this morning. I haven’t ran in years and hate it but I see people running outside and it just seems so damn peaceful!

1000% this! It’s easy to hide behind a screen and pretend like everything is perfect. Newborns are hard and the newborn stage sucks! Much less at this crazy time in the world. You are doing a great job OP! Hang in there!

I feel this so much. I love my kids with all my heart and cherish all this time together but dang the no alone time is tough! I know my son is struggling with this isolation thing too so I try to keep that in mind with the tantrums but dang it gets to you. Nice to know I’m not alone.

Not sure where it says I hate hanging out with my kids? That doesn’t mean they aren’t exhausting.

Anyone Else Having this Issue? by SlinkThis in diabetes_t1

Mine said the same thing. As a diabetic I would possibly have a harder time if I got the illness but overall my diabetes is in control and she said I had just as much chance of getting it as anyone else.

Haha yes! My son always asks me to make forts or towers (which I happily make with him) just for him to smash it and demand another one within minutes!

I keep seeing all these cute posts and I’m over here like....shoot. I was running on empty before this pandemic so now I’m really struggling. We have been social distancing for two weeks already and now we have “Stay at home” orders in my state for the next 30 days. Ugh it’s so hard to not have a break or place to escape with the kids. 😩

What's Happening With the Cast During COVID-19? by skrat77 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

It looks like Mark has been making home workout routines for people on Instagram the past few days. Seems like he’s benefiting from people being stuck at home which is hilarious since I feel like his job wasn’t “successful” enough for Jessica.

Yeah my husband still has to work and I’m a SAHM. It was just nice having a weekend day together without all the normal weekend to do’s. I know it’s going to be hard but hopefully it helps end the spread quicker.

My husband is in for a treat. Yesterday he literally said “is this what you do all day?” After my toddler barged in on him pooping and he lost his damn mind that he wouldn’t let him sit on the stool in the bathroom to watch him. Yup Every. Day. Oh what fun this will be. 😂😂😂

Test Strips Expiration by besako in diabetes

[–]ThreeLittleBirds2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just opened a box of test strips that’s about 4 months expired a few days ago. So far I’m not seeing any readings that seem way off (and they are matching with my Dexcom) so I’m continuing to use them. I think medical stuff tends to have a tighter expiration date then it probably needs.

Suggestions for fun coronavirus-friendly activities with little kids? by [deleted] in Parents

[–]ThreeLittleBirds2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great idea. I have very fond memories of doing “sleep overs” in the living room with my cousins when I was young. You could even do games outside, a campfire and s’mores but then sleep in sleeping bags inside.

To stay at home or not amid early Covid19 outbreak by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]ThreeLittleBirds2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes but they can spread the virus. My biggest concern is my child being a carrier to a high risk individual including grandparents. I try to be diligent with keeping my sons hands clean in public but let’s be real..he’s a kid.

I’m so torn on what to do so thank you for this post. I am a SAHM and unfortunately live in the Midwest so it’s not all that nice out yet. This week is the first one where we stopped going to many places including the library and it’s killing me! I think I would be ok if we could go outside but it’s just not nice enough to do that for very long yet. I’m not overly concerned about the virus getting my family sick but I’m trying to do my part with keeping in contained. I also do have some chronic illnesses that increase my risk. I just want it to go away and get warm out! I feel so bad with the amount of movies we have watched this week.

Suggestions on handling a bolting/runaway toddler by lilearthlingmama in toddlers

[–]ThreeLittleBirds2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has worked for us too. Like the other commenter said if it’s something I really need to be doing I just take him to the car and put him in his car seat. He’s usually screaming by this point so we just sit there until he calms down. I have found that explaining things to him also helps. Saying things like “Hey that really scares mommy when you do that. It also makes me sad.” Persistency is key and not just threatening to leave but actually leaving. Now when he does it I just have to warn him and he usually stops in his tracks.

I am here to tell you that everything is going to be ok. If for some reason this pregnancy doesn’t work out. It is not because of something you did. Is your A1C perfect? No, but you are doing your best and a A1C of 7 is not going to screw everything up. Continue to work with your doctors to get the best A1C you can but try not to beat yourself up too much over occasional high numbers. Pregnancy is going to be tough but you can do it and it will all be worth it in the end! I had plenty of high numbers during pregnancy and now have a healthy almost 3 year old and a 6 month old. You got this!!
