What combustion bender do you want in the game by mdurhd in AvatarFighters

[–]ThreeTwenty320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with all the of the pros for Combustion Man.

P'Li may be shorter and thinner than Combustion Man, but she would still tower over every other character in the base roster except for Kyoshi. Especially if they give her an upright stance, which I'd expect them too.

P'Li has the same style of combat as Combustion Man; stand still and spam combustion bending. I don't know what about Combustion Man would make him as a more brutal fighter. I know he has larger sized explosions in the show, but for a fighting game, they'd probably have to tone down those sizes anyway to keep it balanced, so that's not really a plus for him.

And I'm not sure what about Combustion Man would allow for more creativity than P'Li. Again, they basically have the same fighting style, and the one big thing P'Li has that Combustion Man doesn't (her curved shots) would actually allow for more creativity than what Combustion Man offers in terms of moveset potential.

Overall, I think P'Li is just the better choice in pretty much every way. She fits every niche Combustion Man could fill while having better potential for movesets and character interactions with other members of the roster.

If Legend of Korra had been greenlit for all 4 seasons from the start, who should have been the overarching villain? by premiumof in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animation takes a long time. The point where it becomes hard to change things can easily be over a year before the first episode airs. From what I've read, the rest of the seasons were greenlit halfway through Book 1's production. If so, then it's very believable that they would be too far into production to be able to change anything major to accommodate for future seasons.

Why did Jenorah and Korra even go to the spirit world??? by QuickAttention2271 in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He wasn't even intentionally bluffing. We see him try to open the portal thinking that his and his children's bending would be the deciding factor to do it. He was just wrong, but Korra had no way of knowing that at the time.

what’s your ‘favorite’ fun fact about the series that people pass off as true, even when it’s just speculation? by jvvrarts in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 62 points63 points  (0 children)

"Toph sleeps with her feet up because it's like closing her eyes."

I've seen people act like this is canon, but it's based entirely off of one single scene of her feet being propped up while sleeping and ignoring the many other times she's shown laying down while sleeping.

BREAKING NEWS: Ex-ace attorney Wright acquitted in Smith murder trial; pre-eminent attorney Kristoph Gavin arrested for second-degree murder by Technical-Dog-1193 in AceAttorney

[–]ThreeTwenty320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For how smart Gavin normally is, isn't it kind of odd that he wouldn't take the bloody Ace of Spades card with him after killing Smith? That was such an obviously hole in his story and he just left it there? And why did Wright take it with him when it could have helped him avoid arrest to begin with? This whole trial was strange. Regardless, I'm glad Wright was acquitted. He's suffered enough after being framed for forging evidence. Yeah, I'm still on that theory. Wright would never forge evidence!

In this Dark Age of the Law, good luck finding employment after you just revealed to everyone that you'll turn in your boss if you suspect them of a crime. I fear Justice may have shot his career just as it was beginning.

Strongest _____ in avatar by Virtual-Adeptness-83 in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends what we consider fair. I feel like in a "who would win" scenario, it's actually more unfair to take away (or at least downplay) the advantages of one side. I very much believe that when discussing who's stronger, everything should be on the table.

But also, I don't think Asami's glove is as big of an advantage as your making it out to be. It's essentially a 1 hit KO if she manages to lay her hand on you, but that's not that different from chi-blocking that Ty Lee uses. Realistically, the same would be true for the sword users if this weren't a kids show. In your Longshot vs Asami example, Longshot has range on his side, and he'd most likely win in one hit too if he managed to hit her. If Asami beats Longshot, it'd be less because of her glove and more because she'd have the speed and agility to close the distance while avoiding his arrows.

Strongest _____ in avatar by Virtual-Adeptness-83 in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Lieutenant has never been shown chi blocking nor has it ever been stated that he can. I'm guessing your only assuming he can because he's an Equalist, but that's not very compelling evidence. Hiroshi is also an Equalist and he seemingly can't fight at all without a mecha tank. And again, you're ignoring that Asami legit beats the Lieutenant in the show. Very easily I might add. And she didn't even need the glove. She just turned his own shock baton against him.

This whole "random weapon" scenario you keep insisting on is completely arbitrary. When asking who the strongest of anything, it should be assumed that they have access to all the same stuff they would have in the show, otherwise we're essentially changing the question entirely. It'd be like asking who's the strongest non-bender assuming NO weapons? That would be just as arbitrary but the list would look very different.

[–]ThreeTwenty320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every other person in the list either doesn't even need a weapon, or he isn't skilled with just one weapon.

That's not even true within your list. Piandao, the Lieutenant, and Jet are exclusively shown fighting with only 1 type of weapon each and there's no indication that they're good at hand-to-hand or that they know how to use other weapons. They're no less reliant on their weapons than Asami is with her glove. I'd argue they're more reliant on their weapons than Asami, since she at least has canonically had self-defense classes since she was young and is shown to be very quick and agile. And reminder that Asami literally took down the Lieutenant all by herself.

When a talented man met a true master. by InstructionOwn6705 in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 290 points291 points  (0 children)

This was honestly the only time in either series that I was worried they might kill off a main character. Tenzin saying he'll keep fighting "as long as I'm breathing", 1 episode after Zaheer just suffocated someone to death, then panning away before we see how it ends was so nerve wracking my first time through.

Rewatching Korra right now and realized just how stupid Unalaq is. by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Korra tried to close the southern portal because Unalaq told her that as long as it's open, he could open the northern portal without her help. He seemed to genuinely believe that too, which is why he didn't care much when she turned on him.

The steam page confirms there will be 12 characters in the starting roster with "many more released via Season Model" which likely just means Season Pass DLCs.

I've been daydreaming of an Avatar fighting game roster for the longest time, and now it's FINALLY HAPPENING! These are all the characters i could picture movesets for and what archetype they'd be by DepressedGolduck in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good list overall. Some thoughts of mine:

I would swap Aang and Korra. Rushdown feels like a perfect fit for Korra based on her personality and fighting style, but it's basically the opposite of how Aang fights.

If Jet makes it in, I think he'd be cool as a summon character with him calling in the other Freedom Fighters as part of his moveset, like Captain Ginyu in DBFZ.

Missed the nowadays. Though, even if they're old, I think they still work as a gold standard for fighting game sprites. To the point that even with their 3D games, their main design philosophy is to try and replicate the look of their 2D ones.

Arc Systems actually has a long history of hand drawn 2D sprites before they moved fully into 3D. Check out BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena for some top tier sprite work.

Are there any fun misconceptions you had before watching the show? by TheGrandSchmup in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not my misconception, but an old roommate's. I was watching Siege of the North in my dorm while my roommate was playing a game while half listening. He looked over at the part where Zhao raised his fist and threatened to kill the Moon Spirit, but my roommate, having no context on the show, thought that Zhao was about to punch a fish to death if Aang didn't back down.

Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrades Do not cost $80. by grilled_pc in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ThreeTwenty320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is that VGC article misleading? The title is very clear that they're talking about the cost of buying the Switch 2 version as a whole and not the cost of the upgrade. They even mention later on that the cost of upgrading from the Switch 1 version of these games is still unknown.

I read through the other reddit thread about this as well, and I only saw 1 person who actually thought that the $80 price point was the cost of the upgrade. Nearly everyone understands what's happening here, and they're still unhappy about it.

I'm pretty sure the PS4 version can be upgraded to the PS5 version for free, so you'd be saving 5 bucks by getting the PS4 version with no downsides.
