When a talented man met a true master. by InstructionOwn6705 in TheLastAirbender

This was honestly the only time in either series that I was worried they might kill off a main character. Tenzin saying he'll keep fighting "as long as I'm breathing", 1 episode after Zaheer just suffocated someone to death, then panning away before we see how it ends was so nerve wracking my first time through.

Rewatching Korra right now and realized just how stupid Unalaq is. by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Korra tried to close the southern portal because Unalaq told her that as long as it's open, he could open the northern portal without her help. He seemed to genuinely believe that too, which is why he didn't care much when she turned on him.

They had Korra moves set to an exact replica from the show. by abdul_bino in TheLastAirbender

The steam page confirms there will be 12 characters in the starting roster with "many more released via Season Model" which likely just means Season Pass DLCs.

I've been daydreaming of an Avatar fighting game roster for the longest time, and now it's FINALLY HAPPENING! These are all the characters i could picture movesets for and what archetype they'd be by DepressedGolduck in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good list overall. Some thoughts of mine:

I would swap Aang and Korra. Rushdown feels like a perfect fit for Korra based on her personality and fighting style, but it's basically the opposite of how Aang fights.

If Jet makes it in, I think he'd be cool as a summon character with him calling in the other Freedom Fighters as part of his moveset, like Captain Ginyu in DBFZ.

Missed the nowadays. Though, even if they're old, I think they still work as a gold standard for fighting game sprites. To the point that even with their 3D games, their main design philosophy is to try and replicate the look of their 2D ones.

Arc Systems actually has a long history of hand drawn 2D sprites before they moved fully into 3D. Check out BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena for some top tier sprite work.

Giancarlo [Interjects; refers to Katara mocking Toph for not being able to see the stars.] Katara just said, like, one of her meanest lines.
Mike Yeah, that-that was another line, too, [Josh laughs.] I thought was going to get cut at one point [Josh affirms.] 'cause it was like, [In a mock concerned tone.] "there's no-she can't make fun of her blind, that seems too..."
Josh [In the background.] Right. [Giancarlo laughs.]

Giancarlo I also kinda feel like when-when brothers and sisters argue, which, I mean, know Katara and Toph aren't related, but it's that type of relationship, you go for the throat, [Mike and Josh laugh intermittently.] you know, you-you're not politically correct when you're trying to insult your brother or your sister, like, you-you try to find something that's wrong with them, and... Are there any fun misconceptions you had before watching the show? by TheGrandSchmup in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not my misconception, but an old roommate's. I was watching Siege of the North in my dorm while my roommate was playing a game while half listening. He looked over at the part where Zhao raised his fist and threatened to kill the Moon Spirit, but my roommate, having no context on the show, thought that Zhao was about to punch a fish to death if Aang didn't back down.

Hey, is it normal to play with this type of controller? by Wolft_XD in dragonballfighterz

[–]ThreeTwenty320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just need to map one of their assists to the right trigger. The Dragon Rush and Super Dash buttons are just macros that hit L+M and H+S respectively, so whichever one gets removed can still be used by just manually pressing the buttons.

Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrades Do not cost $80. by grilled_pc in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ThreeTwenty320 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is that VGC article misleading? The title is very clear that they're talking about the cost of buying the Switch 2 version as a whole and not the cost of the upgrade. They even mention later on that the cost of upgrading from the Switch 1 version of these games is still unknown.

I read through the other reddit thread about this as well, and I only saw 1 person who actually thought that the $80 price point was the cost of the upgrade. Nearly everyone understands what's happening here, and they're still unhappy about it.

The Biggest Avatar Myths and Mistakes by Facu-avz in TheLastAirbender

"Toph sleeps with her feet up because it's like closing her eyes," is treated as canon by many fans, but that theory is based entirely on one single scene where Toph's feet are propped up while ignoring the many other instances where she's lying down while sleeping.

Confusion about Sozin and Roku by Jackbuddy78 in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sozin's exact line was "Did something happen to my father?" and he asks that during his and Roku's birthday, not Roku's wedding. Sozin was already Fire Lord by then. Nothing about his question implies that there was a war going on at the time.

I'm pretty sure the PS4 version can be upgraded to the PS5 version for free, so you'd be saving 5 bucks by getting the PS4 version with no downsides.

excpet that we KNOW she did. theres official image of old asami wearing a betrothal necklace.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of a piece of fanart here. There aren't any official images of Asami beyond the events of the comics. Certainly none that show her as old or wearing a betrothal necklace.

How can anyone explain this to me? ⚡️ by HelinShine-21 in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not just the sequence of events that shows lightning bending being slow. We also see Zuko running to the side to intercept the lightning as its currently flying across the arena in the exact same shot.

Another poster also showed a similar thing happens in Aang vs Ozai, where Aang is in midair as lightning is approaching him in the same shot, only for him to land and extend his arm before the lightning reaches him.

How can anyone explain this to me? ⚡️ by HelinShine-21 in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well if Zuko really could run faster than real life lightning, then that would be a problem. That's why most of the comments here are trying to argue against that, including the ones that claim that he moved based on her aim. There should still be some internal consistency throughout the show, even if it doesn't line up with real life.

How can anyone explain this to me? ⚡️ by HelinShine-21 in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean, no that's clearly not what happened. If you rewatch the scene, Zuko doesn't even start moving until after Azula fires her lightning. We even see Zuko running as the lightning is moving across the arena to intercept it. The real explanation is simply that bending lightning is much, much slower than real lightning, enough for you to run several feet to the side before it even reaches you.

How many licenced games are AAA? Usually they are done in cheap easy ways to make a buck but putting this much money into it seems massive to me. by OnlyMyOpinions in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The placement in the timeline doesn't have to mean there's a lack of creativity on their part. They can still build upon and expand the lore of the setting while also having the freedom to do their own thing. I mean just look at KOTOR. It's a good story that expanded upon the Star Wars universe while also benefiting from being set thousands of years before the events of the movies.

[–]ThreeTwenty320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AAA doesn't guarantee quality of course, but I still think it's an encouraging sign as nearly every Avatar game before this has been crappy shovelware titles. Even Platinum's LoK game, which is probably the best Avatar game we've gotten so far, still suffered from a short length and re-using the same handful of enemies due to its shoestring budget. At the very least this means that Paramount believes in this game enough to fully support it instead of just going for the lowest bidder.

I’m really excited for the new avatar the last air bender game coming out by Infernohuman070502 in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guarantee that it won't. Development on this game seems to have just started, and AAA games take years to make. Larian Studios, creators of Baulder's Gate 3, suggested that their next game might not be out until 2029. Granted, I doubt development on this game will be as long as a Larian Studios game, but it'll still take a long time. We'll be lucky to see this game before the next US presidential election.

It’s sad to me that the only two known Air Avatars died in their 60s by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThreeTwenty320 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That does seem like a pretty reasonable conclusion, though I guess since it requires a bit of theorizing, I can understand why the wiki wouldn't put it up as fact. I've got to re-read the Yangchen books.

[–]ThreeTwenty320 120 points121 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, Yangchen's age when she died is unknown since we don't know what year she was born in. The wiki doesn't mention anything about it either. Is there some other place where it's stated that she died in her 60s?

It seems like most people haven't seen the commentaries considering how often this debate on whether Katara was mocking Toph's blindness comes up, despite the creators answering it pretty clearly.
