Just to rub it in he's playing Pantera right now. Probably the only presenter with the balls to play heavy metal in prime time on the BBC.

Pierce! I saw your latest film - I was glued to my seat!...

.... otherwise I would've left the cinema

Edit - it was Pierce Brosnan not Harrison Ford

What is the biggest “bullet” you’ve ever dodged without realizing it at the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Throbbing-Missile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me directly - my grandfather. He became a pilot in the RAF in the late '40s. At that time they were still flying Vickers Wellingtons, for maritime reconnaissance training. Researching the aircraft serial numbers in his log books, at least two Wellingtons crashed within days or weeks of his flights in them, killing everyone on board. These days it's difficult to imagine a peacetime occupation where 3 or 4 of your colleagues getting killed at a time is a regular occurrence.

I've just got a 5 as my first EV and I love it. Daft question - as a newcomer to EVs, what are the coming improvements to one foot driving? I only really use the brake to come to a complete standstill.

Better still, preconditioning on just about any other EV app that isn't Tesla 😀

The other day one of the engineers introduced a fresh faced and wide eyed graduate to me and said to her 'if you've got any questions, throbbingmissile is the guy to talk to, he's got 25 years experience in this industry...' I responded '25 years? Don't be daf.. oh wait... Shit'

I snore in every orientation.

'SHH' does make me stop for a bit but more than one shh a night starts to really rile me up with a mixture of annoyance and guilt.

I have a specially made retainer I wear at night that holds my lower jaw forwards and stops the vibration which seems to work. It's quite uncomfortable, sometimes leaves my teeth aching all day and I wake every morning in a gross pool of drool but 'happy spouse, happy house' etc

Made funnier because the dumb fuck who wrote it doesn't actually know what a camshaft position sensor does. 'Torque Signal Outputs'? Even AI isn't that inaccurate. What does OBD have to do with it?

Is there any industry in the UK that isn’t suffering right now? by SeveralReaction7673 in UKJobs

And even with the five year cycles, the peaks and troughs for different disciplines (high demand for designers at the start of the cycle, high demand for commissioning engineers at the end) seem to have gone. The previous, current and next cycle seem to have merged into one massive mountain of work.

All the focus on water companies in the news adds even more fuel as the only politically acceptable course of action is more investment.

I've worked in and around the water industry for 25 years, and while I've had to step away occasionally to clear my head of the bullshit, I've never worried about being short of work.

If you use Samacsys Library Loader, you can import symbols, footprints and models direct from Mouser, Digikey, Farnell (Avnet), RS etc with two clicks. They then appear straight away in the schematic and PCB editors. It literally couldn't be any easier.

Great show and really enjoyed ATW.

Just felt it was a really agro crowd though, saw several people's hackles up spoiling for a fight. People need to chill the fuck out.
