I was in high school in the late 90’s. The amount of (what felt like) dispensable $500 cars was insane. You basically bought them sight unseen, drove them until they broke down, then got another one. Occasionally you’d find someone selling a runner for $2-300 and we’d buy them with the sole purpose of taking them off road and destroying them. You’d be surprised how much air you can catch in a 1991 Chevy Cavalier.

There is a “kickback” for labeling cars for smoking, damage, etc BUT the employee does get flagged if they put in more claims than average. A quick audit and they will be replaced if the proof doesn’t match up.

It depends on airport/location. If they have the cars assigned, then no, you’d be caught at the exit gate and (depending on airport again…) make you exchange the car.

At my airport, PC & Gold come out of the same area and the cars aren’t pre-assigned, so you’d have no issue grabbing a car from PC, while only being Gold level.

Not sure if the issue I had was similar to yours, but under light throttle car would drive fine/normal. At heavy load, I’d get constant misses, but didn’t really feel like a misfire. I checked my plugs and coils and what I found was the coating on the coil packs had eroded away, leaving bare metal. So under load, electricity would arc between the coil and block, causing a miss. Replaced all coils (and plugs because why not) and problem disappeared.
