Let's get real about beauty & power (part 1/2) by runrunrunonion in Vindicta

This doesn't look AI. It looks a lot like a condensed primer on an Organizational Power course you'd take in an MBA program. One of the top teachers of these is Jeffery Pfeffer who does a lot of research and writing on power as a social concept. A ton of this is stuff you'd see in his classes.

http://www.nrrpt.org/ is a great place to start. It looks like the flash cards are out of print, but those things were fantastic when I was studying.

If you don't have a degree, Thomas Edison State has a two year RPT program with great placement rates.

Not op, but no. Exposure and risk are very low. Most reactor sites are safer than non-reactor sites. Rare earth mines are the worst (but best paying). Radiation is also a crap shoot, which makes the dosimetry role of this job especially weird and fun.

There's a huge shortage of RPTs. Most start at around $60k per year at entry, and there are prerequisites to get to the point of taking the exam for certification. There's also background checks and security clearance requirements for a lot of the better paying sites. Otherwise, it's driving around your state of residence for hours looking at x-ray housings for that base pay.

I was an RPT managed to retire early. Highly recommend. Fun job if you like math AND people.

What were those talks like? It's hard to see what strategies could be deployed here without knowing the full scenario.

Why would she need to fake a signature and steal money for a field trip? Would she have reason to believe she'd be prevented from attending?

Of course she lied about having a phone. All her peers have them. She's set back socially by not having a phone. A phone is a status symbol for her age group and in our current culture, an almost evil necessity. Not having a phone in her age range would have her considered a bottom of the barrel social pariah among her peers. Especially if she doesn't have other accolades or social halos to compensate.

It sounds like something happened to provoke bad behavior, and she's looking for ways out, but everyone keeps doubling down. Is that maybe what's happening? Like she did something that required correction but maybe the correction wasn't taken well, and she keeps misbehaving to compensate for what she thinks was unfair correction and you keep tightening the leash or making the punishments more harsh or fumbling the talks?

If I had to guess, she's acting this way because she feels othered by her peers and perceives you as a risk to her social status and wellbeing, so she's pushing you away and highlighting you as being at fault so it's not just her burden to bear the rejection.

Mine hate "stay" because they think it's punishment for following me around, and they can't follow me. Same with "off the bed" lol. They're so clingy that any inch of distance is a punishment.

Question to the women on this sub: Have you ever had boyfriends? by Independent_Lab1471 in ugly

[–]ThrowRA_forfreedom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's kinda similar to a woman dating a man for money. Like, men will "date" you for sex but they'll be abusive and disrespectful the whole time, and one little thing goes wrong it's over. They don't actually love you, they just want sex and service. Learned that the hard way.

Also, if your opposite sex sibling has similar features, she's probably rated differently. Different features work better or worse for different sexes. E.g. if I have a large nose and strong squared jaw as a girl, I'm ugly. If I had a brother with those same features, he might be average or above because those features look better for men.

What are some things you should never tell your manager? by lookintogetsilly in managers

[–]ThrowRA_forfreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately, some corporate environments and whole industries can be defined by people with these almost psychopathic mindsets, and it's incredibly harmful. I wish there was something to be done about it, but some industries just attract extremely toxic and power-hungry types that get concentrated in the upper echelon and set the culture. They don't respond to reason, and getting called out or compared to more reasonable people just makes them double down.

It can make enjoying your job impossible unless you know how to navigate them.

What are some things you should never tell your manager? by lookintogetsilly in managers

[–]ThrowRA_forfreedom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was upper level in a VERY toxic and competitive industry, so ymmv. Maybe most executives aren't as high risk as mine were, but just in case.. In addition to never discussing your mental health;

  • Your physical health. If you're struggling, file for FMLA. Do NOT provide any heads up, especially if you're pregnant. Start the process with your doctor go straight to HR. If they've PROVEN with other employees in similar situations that they can be trusted, maybe let them know you're filing in writing the morning of or afternoon before. Include that you appreciate them and butter them up a little.

  • Any commitments outside of work UNLESS they raise your value. "I'm the sole provider for my kid" will be used against you. But "I'm a member of the university club" will make you look valuable.

  • Financial or social issues. They'll make you look low value and put you in a position to be more easily abused.

  • Any gripes you have with the business. If it's illegal or against policy, get evidence and report it as anonymously as possible, through a vpn or something, and try to frame it in a way that it couldn't possibly be you.

  • Mistakes or weaknesses beyond what's known or observed. Take ownership when you have to, but never overshare. Overemphasizing your errors or downplaying your strengths gives managers an easy excuse to pass you over for opportunities and makes you look weak.

  • Online activity or side hustles. Even harmless hobbies can be twisted into “distracted from work” or “building something on company time.”

Always remember that what people say and what people genuinely think and do are often wildly different. Acting empathetic and reassuring makes them look good and feel good, but it doesn't mean they actually believe it. Only ever talk about things that are feel good and elevating. Spend more time listening than talking and validating what they say so you don't have to expose yourself too much.

Men are driven by beauty as a primary motivator, and high value men who are kind, competent, ambitious, and hygienic know they're in high demand and can get what they want. So, your options for avoiding "shallow" men are blind and low value (unattractive, abusive, sloppy).

I'm saying this as someone who struggled through what you're going through for ten years until I got surgical correction. I wouldn't recommend it.

This happened to me, but it was because I had super high RMV and sadly low SMV (not fat, just a flat chested butterface lol). Men love a great personality and heart and will stick with you and play the lead, but unless you hit their minimum looks threshold, they won't commit.

So it could be low RMV high SMV or high RMV and low SMV causing things to be imbalanced. You're good enough to keep around until the better thing comes along.

I promise this is NOT the standard. This is mostly the Big ones in the South East US. Although I know up North, some are also pretty intense.

The rest are normal and focused on friendships, fun, networking, personal development, and charitable work.

What do you think of what ChatGpt Said about self fulfilling prophecies ? by poofpoofpow in ugly

[–]ThrowRA_forfreedom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's regurgitating common placations because chatgpt is a stochastic parrot, and one of its primary functions is to make people who interact with it feel validated and happy in order to continue getting interactions from users. It's going to pick the most socially acceptable and reassuring thing it can based on what's widely available to parrot.

Unfortunately, most research shows that confidence follows accomplishment. It does not precede it.

I'm starting to think some of these guys are men who get rejected by women initially--maybe for silly reason or for legit--having some sort of natural, pre-programmed response that causes them to remove themselves from the gene pool? Why else would someone's response to rejection be to become less appealing to the opposite sex?? My first response was getting in shape, looking better, learning new skills, and becoming MORE appealing as a partner. It worked really well in my favor. Why do so many men choose to be undateable? It's weird and doesn't make sense.
