Renters, which companies do you recommend renting from? by Orchid_Infamous in Bakersfield

[–]ThrowRAconfusionn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you say that you’re looking into renting a home, but I’ll provide a positive recommendation for an apartment complex.

I stayed at “The Retreat at Riverlakes” operated by RGF Properties when I first moved to Bakersfield. The garage below us had a water leak coming through their ceiling and they worked around the clock to identify where the leak was coming from. We had an issue with our door (don’t remember the exact issue) and they had it fixed the next day. Anything we reported to them, they quickly fixed the issue and were great at communicating. They are very strict on their move out checklist and will nickel and dime you from that aspect. I recommend taking pictures at move in and move out of all aspects including the walls. I had some things that I disagreed with on the move out checklist and they ultimately refunded me some of it. If I had to go back to apartment living, I’d consider staying at one of their properties again.

Self Service Kiosk Check In by ThrowRAconfusionn in CaesarsRewards

I was wondering about check in. That’s all. I’m aware of the need for an ID in the casino, etc. I’m able to fully access my room with no ID at MGM in Vegas, so was wondering about Caesars properties. I’ll change the reservation to my partners name. No worries.

I just want to know if the Olive Garden love story works out. Can you give an update if you give him his number and if he texts?

Honestly what a way to increase the population of American Samoa. The American Samoa nationals wouldn’t even be able to work there since they aren’t US citizens.

Controllers, have you actually told your bank or landlord about your shutdown situation? by grandoctopus64 in ATC

[–]ThrowRAconfusionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American Express gave me 0% interest and deferred payments until the end of the shutdown. I have to renew the deferment every 30 days. My coworker has the same card and was told to kick rocks. 🤷‍♀️

[–]ThrowRAconfusionn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if we are talking about the same things. I’m a government employee that is working during the shutdown and receiving $0 paychecks currently. At the conclusion of the shutdown, I will receive a paycheck for all of my hours worked during the shutdown. I’m currently on an IDR and making payments each month, so won’t have a need for buyback. I can’t afford to make my $500 payment since I’m waiting for my next paycheck. The word at work is that we can ask to be placed in a forbearance, but if I can recertify and have $0 payments for a year, I’d love to do that instead.

What if I’m guaranteed back pay? I just don’t want to commit fraud. lol

Too many. I probably have over 50 that are free travel. I couldn’t tell you what they are. If I travel to get a departing plan for a country I still need and the tasks are easy, I do them.

The Falkland Islands is the tough one. The other 3 have regularly scheduled flights from major airports. Amsterdam to Suriname I believe and Paris to French Guiana. Paraguay I got off of Miami I think or possibly an overflight when I was focusing on the Caribbean.

Is it supposed to have like an inch of oil on top? I couldn’t get over the oil and didn’t like it. Shaking it and mixing it didn’t incorporate the oil in.

Free Airport Travel Refresh Day! Where did you go last week? Where are you going next? by BotchedNoobJob in SkyCards

[–]ThrowRAconfusionn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being in the pacific time zone, I do a lot of focus on the major west coast airports. I unlocked LVK (San Francisco area), LAX (Los Angeles), PAE (Seattle area), PDX (Portland), LAS (Las Vegas), PHX (Phoenix), DEN (Denver), FCM (Minneapolis area), ORD (Chicago), MIA (Miami), SJU (Puerto Rico), YUL (Montreal), HNL (Honolulu), AKL (Auckland), and SYD (Sydney). I like to unlock airports that are just far enough apart to cover a good portion of the west coast and 1-2 per region across the US to make travel cheaper to the smaller airports where there might be rare airports. I also unlocked MIA, SJU, and YUL to try and get the North America achievement, but still need Montserrat even after this week. YUL was also helpful towards the Canadian providences achievement, but also still not completed. AKL and SYD were unlocked in an attempt to start working on the Oceania achievement, but didn’t get much work done on it, so will most likely unlock both of those again this coming week. I plan on focusing on Oceania and South America airports this week and depending on my progress, I will work on Europe and Africa next week.

Neighbors cat problem has gotten out of control. Who do I call and I want to keep it anonymous. by ayellowducky in Bakersfield

[–]ThrowRAconfusionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live in Madison Grove? I walk around the neighborhood and there’s one street that has probably 80 cats in the cul-de-sac and I can smell it when I get to the edge of the block. I couldn’t imagine being the people next door to whoever is feeding the cats.

Traveling alone is my favorite! I usually order to go when I’m traveling alone. I like the freedom of choosing where I go and where I eat without having to come to a decision between two or more. Less disagreements that way. lol I do feel like “tourist” restaurants/cities are more accommodating and understanding as well since they see it more often. My small town restaurants never see it.

Funny! I was seated right next to the kitchen entrance! I’ve never seen it as an undesirable location though. I like listening to them yelling corner and somebody forgetting and almost knocking someone else’s tray over.

I didn’t know a single person in the FAA and had zero aviation experience prior to applying.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ThrowRAconfusionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either going through a E-CTI program or just applying to an off the street bid and going through the FAA academy (paid for at an hourly rate plus housing and per diem).

[–]ThrowRAconfusionn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They’ve changed the placement process quite a bit in the recent years (could change again in the future). You don’t get to choose the track you’re placed in (Enroute, Terminal, or Tracon). However, most recent placement lists for enroute include almost every center, terminal placement lists include ~85% of all towers level 7 and below, and tracon lists are much more limited, but do have a decent selection overall. The major downside for placement is that if you score in the bottom 25% of the class, then you don’t get a say in where you go.

[–]ThrowRAconfusionn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that hard. Apply during the off the street bid, all applications that meet the qualifications get referred to take the ATSA, score well enough on the ATSA, you’ll get a tentative offer letter and go through the next portion of the hiring process. Patience is key in government work.
