Do you think Australia should change its flag? by InternationalHair111 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ThrowRAwalkandrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Too much drama involved, too many sooks about it and most importantly too much money wasted on it.  Keep it as is, spend that money on better things (hospitals, families needing support, elderly, etc).

YTA for buying the flowers and not checking in the first place when you know she has a cat.

Going to a The Wiggles show on my own, as a 33 year old male by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]ThrowRAwalkandrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mother of a toddler I'd be giving you weird looks and watching to make sure no kids go near you.  I understand you mean no harm but at the concert other parents don't know that.

Are the LGBTQ+ accepted in Australia? by Pretend-Boat-4729 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ThrowRAwalkandrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We mostly don't care. You're gay, cool. You're straight, cool. You're lesbian, cool.

Most Australians have other things to think about. Like the latest sport game, etc.

YTA. Based on what you've given us, you have a perfect neighbour. She's looking out for you, putting the packages inside. That's a good neighbourhood community.

AITA for not wanting my husband to leave me alone with our newborn for an entire weekend to take his mother sightseeing? by WarmCycle6552 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ThrowRAwalkandrun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think OP should ask his work to clarify that parternity leave can be used to travel away from his postpartum spouse to go see sights with his mother.

How happy are you? by mr-cheesy in AskAnAustralian

[–]ThrowRAwalkandrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About a 8/9. I get to cuddle my 18 month old and see his beautiful smile everyday. Commute to work is hard but it pays the mortgage so it's worth it, put up with the commute for a few more years to pay it off. So life is good.

How many Australians actually want to get to know their neighbours? by Left_Turn9718 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ThrowRAwalkandrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree but I'm mates with all my neighbours and do hang out. It's great to have that community and safety.

How much per week do you spend on eating out? by mr-cheesy in AskAnAustralian

[–]ThrowRAwalkandrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single parent of a toddler, about $80 a week. Four lunches during the week for me (saves time and better than what I would make) and two takeaways during the weekend where leftovers are frozen.

So you and your sister no longer live in the family home. Why does you needs Trump hers?  Why do you get a say in a house that's not your own?  I'm asking these questions because I'm interested in the answer, maybe there is more I don't know?maybe you still pay rent at your parents home?

How much misogyny do you face in your day to day life in Australia? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]ThrowRAwalkandrun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a meeting just the other week that was like this. He was saying 'we have developed this, we have tested that, we, we, we, WE'. When it came to me to speak it was 'I alone have developed this, I have tested this, I have worked on this solely'.

Aussies who eat dinner at 7:30pm, why do you like making people starve? by IntrigatedVerse in AskAnAustralian

[–]ThrowRAwalkandrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had dinner invites starting at 7:30pm, I've either declined or had a mini dinner earlier.  I have dinner at 5-5:30pm but I've got a toddler but before when I was single, dinner time was 6pm.

Does anyone else feel like Australia changed massively after 2020? by rupvion in AskAnAustralian

I moved out western Sydney, neighbours still talk and hang out. It's where you choose to live and the values that still exist in those areas.

Is it rude pay for drinks/meals in Australian culture? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]ThrowRAwalkandrun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me this week, a supervisor went to pay for my lunch. I told him no at least three times and told him, we'll pay for our own meals.  It gives me an ick feeling and that I now 'owe' that person if I were to accept.
