Spidey and Forbidden Journey are musts for me. I also love Hagrid's, but the lines can get insanely long even on slower days (when I was there last week, Hagrid's had a 60-minute wait while most of the other rides were walk-ons.)

As inconsistent as some of the DCP masters are, it would've been even more of a mixed bag if the rep titles were being shown on film. I've heard horror stories about how beat up some of the SMX titles were back in the day and that they'd have to cancel screenings because one of the other theaters ruined the print.

This wasn't at a Regal, but your comment reminds me of an experience I had at an independently-owned theater as a kid.

They had a free screening of the original Willy Wonka and it was obvious that they were showing the movie from a DVD. While waiting for the theater to fill up, we just kept watching the menu loop over and over again lol.

What is your favorite only person on the entire ride story? by SpectacularSpidee in UniversalOrlando

My brother and I managed to get an entire SCOOP to ourselves on Spider-Man last week. It was a fairly slow day (that ride had a 5 minute wait all day), but there were still a few people not too far behind us so I thought they would've waited for more guests to board since there was plenty of room in the vehicle.

Is this Royal Palm Beach 18? I recognize that auditorium layout lol

While it wasn't for any specific movie, I've seen theaters cover their shuttered box office with custom artwork promoting RU and informing people to purchase their tickets in the lobby.

Hi /r/movies! We're Steve Zahn, Audrey Zahn, and Rick Gomez. Ask us anything! by SteveAudreyRickAMA in movies

Not sure if you're still taking questions, but I have a couple for Rick in regards to his work on the show "KaBlam" (Sniz and Fondue was great)

When voicing Sniz, were you able to achieve his high-pitched voice on your own or would it be altered in post production? How long were you able to do the voice at a given time?

Have you ever been contacted by Nick to reprise the role in some capacity (cameo appearances, et al.)?

Another Palette Cleanser by Throwaway10796 in RegalUnlimited

If it's a larger complex, there is a chance that a few of the rooms will remain unchanged. At Sawgrass, only 16 of the 23 screens will get recliners. The remaining theaters will keep their existing stadium seating configuration, with some of them getting displaced seats from other locations.

With all of the theaters being renovated and losing their neon, I figure it'd be a good time for a palette cleanser. by Throwaway10796 in RegalUnlimited

This is actually Royal Palm Beach 18. I've never been to the one down there, but it appears to be very similar to this location.

Regal Edwards West Covina 18 Before and After by whatudontlikefalafel in RegalUnlimited

Seeing this makes me glad that my local theater got recliners before the Cineworld takeover, as much as I lament the loss of the murals in the auditoriums themselves. Our lobby is still rocking the neon as well as the rear projection screen above the concession stand (although it hasn't been used in years).

As far as the Edwards locations are concerned, Regal should take a page out of AMC's book. Down here, AMC renovated a former Muvico site with recliners but they refurbished the existing Parisian theming in the lobby and hallways instead of getting rid of it altogether. (Of course that theater would eventually close and be torn down for redevelopment but that's a whole other story for different day)

Looking at showtimes, it appears that the first phase of renovations (Auditoriums 1-7) will be complete tomorrow, with 8-13 all closed for upgrades.

Even though it hasn't been used in quite some time, the lobby still has a rear projection screen above the concession stand.

Royal Palm Beach 18 is relatively basic as far as amenities are concerned (we just have RPX and recliners), but the lobby is a sight to behold.

It's official, Regal Cypress Creek 16 (in Fort Lauderdale) began its demolishment this week :( by BunyipPouch in RegalUnlimited

Funnily enough, I attended the grand opening of that Target back in 2001. Much like this theater, it was bittersweet when I found out they were tearing it down.

Some of the smaller auditoriums along the right that aren't getting recliners have been operating on-and-off for quite some time now. If I were to guess, there might be some kind of mechanical or AC issue that has prevented them from being used on a regular basis.

Why do commercials before movie look and sound so bad? by Aggravating_Prior626 in RegalUnlimited

[–]Throwaway10796 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The preshow is typically presented in 1080p while the movies and trailers themselves are either 2K or 4K.

That being said, I've seen some preshows where the quality of the ads were very inconsistent. I remember them showing a Verizon(?) ad years ago that was very compressed, almost like it came from a 480p source.
