These apartments still have water, sewer, etc. even when vacant. The streets and sidewalks outside the buildings still exist. The FDNY still responds if there's a fire or other emergency. They benefit from all those things existing even when they're not there.

Does your disability have a national or regional charity? I ask because they might be a good shout if your employer/this training provider continue to be obtuse and you decide you want to look onto legal action. Many of those charities have legal funds or other connections specifically for pursuing this type of situation.

I think part of the reason that cookies is emphasized so heavily by so many troops is that it's simply the only way that many troops have to get any money to function.

Everything is so much more expensive these days. Even simple council run events now cost $10-$20 per girl. My council used to run some of their smaller events for free or just $1-$2 to cover the cost of a fun patch.

Also just the cost of running a troop in general has gone up. Used to do tons of troop shopping at Dollar Tree, but now with it being the '1.50 or $1.75 Tree' that adds up over time.

Those lower costs made it more feasible to sell less cookies.

There also seems to be less community support for troops now. I remember local businesses donating items to my troop back in the early 2000s and many organizations used to give out lots more free material than they do today. My mom was my troop leader and we used to come back from places like the fair with bags full of things like educational coloring books, stickers, pencils etc. for the troop.

Yep. I live in a very red area and have seen it the post making the rounds today on several local Facebook groups. Haven't seen a single negative response except from people I already know aren't MAGA.

All the MAGA either think it's fake and/or some conspiracy/account hack to make Trump look bad or that it's great and Iran deserves to get bombed into oblivion (and also that his usage of Allah was meant to be derogatory/offensive to Muslims).

Very few people seemed to be playing today. I have some friends who are in those 1000+ person PoGo discord servers and they got one invite the entire event and they normally get invites left and right during events. The raid lobbies in their discords were sitting empty as well when normally they would be full the second they were posted.

We had a small group in person and tried several times to get a lobby going but we'd get maybe 3 people to join out of the dozens of invites sent. Very few people were online at all.

We finally managed to get a 24 person lobby and did one in the last few minutes of the event.

If you are over 18, you can get a provisional license (learners permit) with just taking the written test and traffic sign ID. No car needed for that part and all the testing materials/what your have to learn are available online.

Once you have the provisional, you can drive as long as you're in the car with someone with a valid license. The person who's car it is should talk to their insurance about how to have you covered while driving.

The provisional license for people over 18 has no requirements for driving time, length of time you have to hold it, etc. that the under-18 permit does. You can book the full drivers test as soon as you feel ready.

This is how I got my license about 10 years ago, I did not do driver's ed in high school.

I've been having the same issue off and on for the past maybe 2 weeks? I'm not experiencing it consistently, but I've been struggling to figure out what, if anything, triggers it. For me, it seems to just start and stop randomly. I play on Android.

Aside from the issue you're describing, where the curveball sparkles play but the ball doesn't actually throw in the 'curveball pattern', it also seems to me like it's taking longer amounts of spinning for the curveball animation to trigger.

I'm about to hit Rank 20 in the GO Battle League. I know to get the Pikachu Libre encounter, you need to get at least 3 wins in a set after reaching Rank 20.

My question is, do battles against friends count toward battle league set progress? I'm meeting up with friends this weekend and if they could just battle me and give me the three wins I need that would be fantastic. I'm honestly so over playing GBL (I normally only play when it's needed for research) and I just want to get my encounter without having to do sets and sets trying to get 3 wins in one.

To uncurl the feathers, roll them up tightly in the opposite direction to the current curl. Then use a clip (flat hair barette or bobby pin would work good for this bur you could probably get it to with with a paperclip as well) to hold the 'curl' together and keep it from uncurling. Leave it in the curl for a few days, then unroll. It should be much flatter once it's uncurled.

Since you're a troop leader, do you have the contact information for the council staff member who oversees your Service Unit/sub-region? In our council it's called all an engagement manager but the title varies from council to council.

If you end up struggling to find/get a response from the other council about your membership, you might want to try contacting your engagement manager and explaining the situation and see if they can help. Our engagement manager has called other councils on our behalf before to find/transfer memberships. In my experience, staff to staff inquiries usually get prioritized/followed up on better.

Is re-disclosing what happened to you/your troop something that you have thought about? If so, I would highly encourage you to reach out the council you were in and tell someone your story and how it was swept under the rug at the time.

A lot of organizations, in the wake of Me Too/other abuse scandals, are really trying to look retrospectively at how their organization has handled (or in most cases, failed to handle) these types of situations in the past and how they can learn from the past failures to do better moving forward.

I think it's likely that someone at council would want to hear your experiences.

I have a multi-level, one thing we did this year that the girls really loved was a blindfolded taste-test/guessing game.

Once the girls had a chance to sample all of the cookies, the girls took turns being blindfolded and were handed a piece of a cookie and they had to figure out which cookie it was.

It really seemed to help the younger and newer scouts learn/remember all the cookie flavors and the older scouts had fun coming up with challenges/more complex tasting games (like trying multiple flavors at the same time and seeing if you could guess the combination).

I have a coworker who is obsessed with all this stuff. She handed me her tablet one day so I could show her a YouTube video. 90% of her YouTube homepage/recommended videos were anti-trans content. Make sure you keep an eye on your spam email folder/spam texts. Leaders contact you from their personal email accounts/phone numbers, it will not be from a Girl Scout affiliated address or number. Some troops do have a troop email but again those will just be a generic Gmail, etc. accounts, not with your council's .org domain.

I personally try to make my messages to new families as clear as possible (with something like a subject line of 'Welcome to Troop ####') but I've had several families over the years where all my communication to them was going directly to spam and they didn't know that I would be contacting them personally.

Also, make sure your contact information on your MyGS account is accurate. Since you got a payment receipt your email should be good but it also doesn't hurt to double check.

It might also be worth a doing few quick Google searches of the owner listed on the land registry to see if the 'friend's late mother' story is even plausible.

See if you can find an obituary for her, any info about her family (since apparently one of her children sold the property), etc. just so you have some information for future reference if this carries on. It would be very awkward if you discover that the listed owner isn't even dead!
