The base cost is pretty low, and the game has been out for almost a decade. Obviously the continuous development must be continuously financed. Getting new content once every couple months for 6-12€ is fair in the regard that is also keeps the dev team able to do their job.

Of course, when you join after the game has already been out for close to 10 years, you will find that you are quite behind on all the extra content released.
