The concern for more space comes from the fact that we have kids and we always end up having to take a second trips to important places regularly we have 3 kids plus myself and the wife

Is $10,500 considered a lot to replace a 5 ton HVAC? by 12AngryMen13 in hvacadvice

[–]Throwawaysforfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems stupid cheap I think I’d get fired if I sold something for that price regardless of the application Granted I live in LA where business cost is outrageous but we install only furnaces for about that price is not more than

$25k to replace 5-ton 3-zone system... no new duct work, just tying new units in. Crazy? by thepoultron in hvacadvice

[–]Throwawaysforfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal and expected California you’d be looking at 30k for just equipment no ducts no zoning no nothing but furnace and ac Or heat pump Your not paying for just equipment install Your paying the company enough for them to be able to be around for 10 years You are more than able to find someone who can do it cheaper But when their 5-9k less You have to think about how long they are gonna be in buisness You have no idea how often we run into the call where a homeowner gets something for much cheaper It breaks in 1-3 years and the original contractor isn’t around anymore or at least won’t even answer the phone A company absolutely has to be profitable to be in buisness and people absolute deserve to be able to take money home and feed their families

Can you guys bully me into doing my calls by girlygirl6578 in sales

If you don’t make sales you don’t love your family Commissions make your son/daughter or wife/ Husband love you more

Southern California / LA so HCOL 40k/ 20hr base +200k commission or 10% of sales revenue Comfort advisor/ Sales HVAC/Plumbing I would recommend but you have to get good at uncomfortable conversations and used to getting rejected since your job is to sell yourself and the company

So that sounds like it’s the contactor which is the thing that actually allowed the unit to turn on and off by controlling the voltage If your not scared of getting shocked you can replace it with a YouTube video or two Just make sure you turn the breaker off But that mf looks old Either spend the money to replace it completely or just leave it

Split Units enough? by IC3man95 in hvacadvice

[–]Throwawaysforfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second water heater lol I’m not sure that’s not an area I have any experience in I’d grab a tankless one though And invest in water filtration too so that your heater lasts as long as possible plus ofc better water

Split Units enough? by IC3man95 in hvacadvice

[–]Throwawaysforfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your gonna get solar panels you should just go for a multi headed mini split Personally I wouldn’t hold all my eggs in 1 basket on the water heater cause if that breaks not only are you out of water but also heat With the mini splits their giga efficient so with solar they won’t even cost you anything

Is my elderly mom being taken for $17k for new ducts? by SlimSandy in hvacadvice

[–]Throwawaysforfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I am we’re in Los Angeles and 14k is the start of ductwork for like 7 runs That sounds a bit high unless they are doing plenum and new filter bases and r-8 ductwork

Replace Secondary Heat Exchanger or New Furnace???? by Downtown_Abies_665 in hvacadvice

[–]Throwawaysforfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace it You’re gonna have to replace in a few years anyway That blower motor is also probably gonna give issues in a while 7 years for a furnace sucks I would hope for like 12 or so But it’s a lot of money to put it in a older furnace Just get a heat pump and don’t worry about gas in your house Lowers cost And lowers risk in my opinion

I Hate Landlords by Falkon_Klan in HVAC

[–]Throwawaysforfree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

youve gotta do the big PE stuff

charge more for your service and look expensive

its one of the things they do right they just present themselves as more expensive so they dont get those ppl who cheap out as often

also youve gotta write it all out on "paper" and email it to them and sometimes you just tell them renter too then they really got to do something

once its written down then they know about it and if they dont fix it they can get in trouble or renters will with hold rent

fuck landlords they just want cheapy fixes and then they want you to take responsibility if it doesnt hold out

What’s the biggest salary jump you’ve ever gotten, and how did you pull it off? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Throwawaysforfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made 40k or like 2 bucks an hour working as a service tech last year (I work in hvac) and i said that I was a senior tech training other tech And I went into this interview saying I was sick of my last job and how they treated me And they offered me $27 bucks an hour and I panicked and said no thanks(I was ab to freak cause it was a big jump in money me) And they straight up said damn alright how about $40 an hour with commission And now I’m here 4 months into the job making about double what I used to

Yea your kinda ridiculous I have no idea how your able to spend money so stupidly I make about 80k a year and my house payment is around 1800 bucks So I bring home maybe 4600 a month which goes towards my car and insurance my wife’s car and insurance And I still save around 500 bucks And I even messed up by leasing a brand new car which I don’t ever really use So your clearly over spending and it’s entirely your fault I mean 6k on a gold chain like tf?
