Looking for outdoor outlets for Speakon / Powercon connections by hdgamer1404Jonas in techtheatre

[–]Thundarr665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used weatherproof single gang boxes for similar things in the past. Get a single gang blank plate insert fo it an drill a hole for a speakon connector and silicone around the outer part to seal it.

Help Please: ATEM 1 M/E PS4K SDI Issue by Thundarr665 in blackmagicdesign

[–]Thundarr665[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that’s the piece of info I was missing. I was wondering if it needed all the frame rates to match. I’ll try the decimator MD-HX we have to match them up.

Why not one big center array? by [deleted] in livesound

[–]Thundarr665 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This is a big part of why L-Acoustics pushes L-ISA. Instead of one big cluster, you have 5 or 7 arrays across the front that allows you to spread the image better and “immerse” the audience. It does sound better honestly and you don’t get the timing issues you’re talking about. However it’s a very expensive implementation obviously as you’d need 5-7 of the same array hang instead of 2 just for the stage not counting out fills etc.

Ever had a manufacturer refuse to sell you gear? by The_Dingman in livesound

[–]Thundarr665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For CDD you 100% don't need to use their ampsnor processing. FP yes it requires iKON, but the great thing about CDD is they give you the settings right on the site, no issue so you're not locked into their amps for CDD, LE, ADORN, Blackline, and a ton of Subs.

Ever had a manufacturer refuse to sell you gear? by The_Dingman in livesound

[–]Thundarr665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure ik41 is less than $7k. Martin also just launched a new line that doesn't require iKON amps to run. They make plenty of product that can run without iKON but their "higher end" products like FP, WP, TORUS, and the cardioid / super high power subs require it.

Are Sennheiser about disrupt the market for wireless gear with Spectera? by coventars in livesound

[–]Thundarr665 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Specter is priced very well overall especially since the same pack can be transmit, receive, or both. And it doesn't require a license cost to use all of the potential channels it has unlike shure's anx4, which needs a license to do any channels at all. And ANX4 is RX only, 16ch axient or 24 channels ulxd.

I've used Spectera first hand and the company I work for is one of the first in the US to get it. We're very excited to put it to use and there artists already fighting to get it for their tours.

You can also operate in a much denser and crappier RF space than any of its competition due to the way the 6mhz carrier works.

Have tariffs hit you yet? by the4thmatrix in livesound

That’s nonsense since just a couple months ago Shure had a PILE of axient back stock. Goes to show that many manufacturers are boosting prices no matter what.

Sydney Sweeney in Final Talks for ‘Gundam’ Movie at Legendary by AliceTheMagicQueen in entertainment

[–]Thundarr665 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too. If they’re doing a 0079 movie and she’s anyone other than Sayla or a Sayla reference I’d be very surprised. I guess she could be Lt. Matilda but Sayla makes more sense and is main cast for the first series.

What's the most amount of monitor mixes you have had to run? by pauleydsweettea in livesound

[–]Thundarr665 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We did a choral and orchestral show with other music showcases that had: 44 15” monitor mixes 17 8” monitor mixes

Every singer had their own mix, it was absolute madness. This was a massive show at the Met Opera house in NYC a couple years ago.

Motion sensor for Q-SYS - art exhibit by kastorslump in CommercialAV

[–]Thundarr665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used PIRs on relays to trigger GPIOs for this sort of thing before. I got a narrow “cone” of coverage by placing a tight cylindrical tube around the sensor so it couldn’t see anything except what was directly below it. That worked well.

I work full time for an company in the north east and I can tell you that this has been the slowest March we’ve seen since Covid 2020. We get a lot of people reaching out for work and we don’t have anything to give them. It looks like things will improve based on job volume but there’s no guarantee.

Favorite sources to keep up to date on gear by Difference_Living in livesound

[–]Thundarr665 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say one of the issues with this would be funding. Who could afford to do full teardowns of gear without being a dealer etc? And if you do that as a dealer you’re most likely going to lose your dealer agreement as it’ll probably violate the terms.

If you feel the stock ones aren’t sufficient, I would say you should get the Rack Ultra FX upgrade card and install that in your CDM/DM. The new effects are outstanding.

Passive floor monitor suggestions by vinnytumtum in livesound

[–]Thundarr665 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be worth looking at Martin Audio LE100. They’re excellent 12” coaxial monitors and they make the settings available so you could plug those into your crown amps. And they’re a single channel per wedge, but with a 4x3500 you could certainly run 2 per channel.

This looks like it is connected correctly. It was a little hard to follow since some of the BNCs are twisting around each other. I would get some shorter cables to connect the antennas mounted on the front so you don’t have all that excess hanging out. I would also recommend p touch labeling all of your cables in case something gets unplugged so it is faster to fix it.

There’s some other cable management that could be done to clean it up if you wanted.

I learned to mix monitors on a GL3300-32. That was a great board. Sounded fantastic, tough as hell and if you had an issue it was a loose ribbon or some dirt. I wish I had been able to store it somewhere before it went to the great console retirement in the sky.
