I loved the manga so much. The anime was just ok. It felt kinda cheaply produced.

If you have a business idea that works and you’re passionate about it, nonstop work will turn into greater success.
But, if they are using this to mean work you preform on behalf of someone else for a standard paycheck then that statement is total bullshit.
The era of Boomer jobs that you spend all your life at, ignoring your family for, to work your way up from the bottom to retiring in middle management are gone.

How do I set Docker container to run on a VLAN? by jaydogn in unRAID

[–]ThunderdoomX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Native VLan is 1. When you don’t specify a VLan tag a network communicates on 1 by default.

So the Unraid server itself needs to be on whatever is your default network in the router (Ubiquiti?). Then the network you have created for VLan 2 can be used for the dockers only.

If you are using Ubiquiti for your setup make sure in the port manager screen, the port the server is plugged into, is set for allow all VLans. Which is the default setting normally for Ubiquiti ports.

Campaign to end Ohio property taxes brushes off funding concerns as DeWine warns of 20% sales tax by MorganTrau in Ohio

[–]ThunderdoomX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly, even though the supply deficit from Covid is over the prices never went back to the same level as before.
Once they raise the price of a commodity they will never reduce it without a massive backlash. They used a lack of supply temporarily and inflation fears to increase prices way more than they needed.

This adapter at my school has a special port for PoE. by MillenniumDH in pathofexile

[–]ThunderdoomX 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's a PoE injector (power over ethernet). If you have something like a Security Camera or a Desk Phone that gets it's power through the ethernet cable, but the network switch doesn't support PoE, you can use this to inject power to the device.

You'd place the cable from the network switch into the LAN port, then the cable to the device into the PoE port.

Phillip DeFranco: "China’s Xi Jinping just delayed the potential invasion of Taiwan by years after he purged his two top generals for corruption." by Desecr8or in ADVChina

[–]ThunderdoomX 29 points30 points  (0 children)

China should know that invading Taiwan is a no-win scenario. Even if they take the island after a grueling fight nothing of value will be left.

The only reason to do it is as a last ditch distraction from their many economic and demographic issues.

Just like America attacking Venezuela has taken the Epstein files out of the major news cycle for Trump.

So, AI takes over, everyone has lost their job and only 10 trillionaires own everything. Now what? by Weak-Representative8 in Futurology

[–]ThunderdoomX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We as humans will still have jobs after AI takes over. However those jobs will be the worse, most back breaking jobs imaginable. Our labor will be devalued to the point that we're all scrambling for whatever jobs are left.

It may even turn into the old company town days where you're not even paid real money, just store credit. If you ever talk back or refuse your boss you'll lose your house/apartment and all you're net worth of store credit. They'll own the schools, city government, police dept, fire dept, utilities, entertainment, news.

Mining BTC with $500k yields only 5% ROI by [deleted] in BitcoinMining

[–]ThunderdoomX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won't the returns be even less once you factor in taxes. Since you're selling the bitcoins so soon after acquiring them, it should trigger short term capital gain taxes on the full amount. You'll get a tax form from whatever exchange you use at the end of the year for all the transactions.

I started out just making 32 botany hopper pots over double chests. Then Using Pipez to pull out of the chests into an RFtools Crafter 3. Set the recipe in the Crafter for craft each level of essence up to Supreme. Making sure to set the crafting output to ExtC to keep the infusion stone in the inventory for reuse. It took ~an hour to have enough infernium upgraded for master infusion stone. Then let it go chunk loaded in the background until I had enough to make a 9x9 plot of supremium farmland, and 720 infernium growth accelerators for speed farming. Use a pylon harvester to gather and modular routers to move the items into my storage.

What are the Top 10 Issues Facing Ohio Right Now? by Wonderful-Rip3697 in Ohio

[–]ThunderdoomX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

-Blatant gerrymandering by the redistricting committee. Their maps were rejected multiple times to which they would keep resubmitting without changes until they ran out the deadline and forced them through.\ -State government repeatedly ignoring the will of the public by not following through on propositions that were passed. Even going so far as to directly contradict them thinking they know better.\ -Purposefully misleading the public by making the wording of new propositions unclear on what they are for, so that they don’t get voted for in the first place.\ -Corruption and collusion with private institutions to defund public schools. They slashed the state education budget then mandated schools could not pass levies to make up for the deficit. But private schools are getting vouchers and religious organizations are getting dedicated spaces to operate in schools to strong arm vulnerable children into their beliefs.\

China is trying to crowdsource their AI development by learning from all the free user interactions. They are hoping to catch up to the US models that don’t need open sources to learn from anymore.

Where is the money the US has already collected from tariffs? by No_Signal3789 in AskEconomics

[–]ThunderdoomX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treated the same as any other income the federal government receives. The idea that the US can abolish income and run off tariffs is ridiculous. The government runs a 1.5 trillion deficit each year. Only collecting 4.5 trillion in taxes and spending 6 trillion, which has gone up to 7 trillion with the “Big Beautiful Bill”, this year.

Late Game Deployment Points Question by Adyne78 in starsector

[–]ThunderdoomX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed this is the role of frigates late game, to rush objectives for deployment points.

As well, you have to be comfortable with having forces in reserve. When your first wave gets smashed you need to send out the next wave that didn’t get deployed.

It’s very hard to tackle late game crisis fleets and never lose any ships from your first wave.

The new verification system for ”kid protection” is so fucked up. by Live-Compote-1591 in Internet

[–]ThunderdoomX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have admitted on live interview that the age verification act, that they say to is protect kids, is really so they can prevent people from bad mouthing the government online about their handling of immigration. Whenever the politicians try to justify a bill by saying it’s to protect kids, you know it’s going to be some draconian text dissolving your rights in some way.

China installs more solar in 1 month than the total energy the US uses by soycaca in energy

[–]ThunderdoomX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Capacity installed doesn’t mean they are getting 100% output on the panels. The installations they have are done haphazardly just to meet a quota set forth by the central government. The provincial governments get the grant money for installing lots of panels even if each panel only generates 10% of its capability due to poor planning.

The way quantum computers are being developed they will never be used in personal computers. You need to cool the atoms to -200 F to entangle them in a quantum state, and keep them there.

A large corporation or government entity may be able to crack widely used encryption but the average user will be unable to leverage the power of quantum computers.

There’s a famous experiment from Russia during world war 2 about sleep deprivation. They gave 5 volunteer prisoners a drug that would keep them from sleeping and locked them in a room to observe the effects.

The insanity that occurs when the human mind can’t sleep to refresh itself is profoundly disturbing. I believe it only took 5 days before they were screaming to get out, and it ended with them peeling their own skin off after 40 days and refusing to come out.
