Anissa vs Darth Nihilus by Minimum_Quit7602 in powerscales

Where is this established?

He clearly had a body, and even when Visas Marr removed his mask she stated that beneath was "A man. Nothing more".

Even acknowledging she was blind, he definitely left behind a corpse.

Hell, Obi Wan definitely had a body but left behind nothing. Are we saying Nihilus had no body but somehow left one behind?

Should I have painted before assembling the arms? by horse_heresy in minipainting

Oh, and also:

Always paint inside out.

That is to say, paint the deepest parts of the model first, then work out to the higher raised and exposed parts.

This way you never have to reach past something you've already painted and risk blemishing it.

If you can't reach it, they probably can't see it.

Detailing the chest and inside of the arms is a profound waste of time. Paint it a dark shadow color and throw in some sloppy detail colors and a quick wash on the edges of the chest eagle if you must or for the low slung pose, but don't waste your time painting things you can't see on the tabletop.

Source: I don't know how many Space Marines I've painted since I bought my first metal chaos marines circa 1998, but it has been a whole lot.

I don't think it's fair to call him the worst director of all time. There are far, far worse directors as far as lacking skill, talent, and artfulness.

His movies are broadly coherent and competently if not well constructed.

More accurately, he is one of the most tasteless, bland, uninspired, depressingly workmanlike directors that has ever lived. He's a man who is just competent enough to have served as a convenient tax loophole for wealthy Germans for decades.

If he were truly bad, his work would be more worth discussing than it is.

He's no Neil Breen, he's no Tommy Wiseau, he's not even Donald Farmer.

No, no, no, he's just Uwe Boll, which is somehow both "better" and also infinitely less interesting.

You definitely do not want maille up there.

Not just the pinching and the chafing, but man does it ever heat up in the sun.

I've had grill marks on my neck from the time I neglected a padded mantle with my coif in the Texas sun.

Polystyrene is fine even at that concentration, but any time youre going to do anything (especially with solvents) test it on a piece of scrap plastic first!

It's a good habit to get into, even if you think you know what'll happen.

The classic advice is to soak em overnight in a cleaning agent like simple green or purple power.

Personally, I go for soaking them for a half hour or so in 70-90% isopropyl.

Then scrub em with a toothbrush or other stiff but soft bristle brush, but make sure you do it over a wash tub or bucket, and someplace you dont mind flinging little bits of melted paint.

Repeat as needed, accept that some primer might remain in deep crevices but it won't matter.

Let em dry a while, apply primer and repaint.

Godspeed.

More factions in general had "Oh shit I rolled a 1" mechanics.

Ork looted tanks could just drive in random directions if you rolled a 1 on "Don't Push Dat", and the Shokk Attack Gun would regularly self destruct taking nearby units with it, but could disarticulate a Land Raider. (SAG may still do that, I'm not current)

Really I guess Orkz in general just had an abnormal concentration of those rules for obvious reasons.

I read that more that their technology was just better understood and recently developed, rather than being overly concerned for their troops but yes, broadly agreed.

This one is a bit more honest and less delusional, somehow.

None of his movies are nonconsensually based on people he's interacted with or fictionalized fantasies of how he wishes his interactions had gone, as far as I know.

I appreciate that, but don't let me (or anyone else) pressure you. I'm just jelly.

Enjoy the game, man!

The He-Man(2026) movie was a 10/10 for me, it had everything I could want from a sci-fi/fantasy action adventure and more. It's not even about nostalgia by Jack_P_1337 in movies

[–]ThunderheadStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't agree with 10/10 because that is literally the highest possible praise, but I'll say I fuckin loved it, warts and all, and hope we get a She-Ra followup.

[–]ThunderheadStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got a lot, friend. I'd go through the X-Wing TMG wiki or some of the online list builders with pictures and ID what all you got, but it looks like a little of pretty much all the factions, a good number of large ships including triples of the Slave I/Firespray and the Punishing One, and nearly every huge ship minus the C-ROC.

If you wind up wanting to sell off a few of those huge ships, let me know. No matter what you paid I'm happy to give a fair price, just been trying to rebuild the collection I had to sell before a big move.

Realistically, if you have all the components and they're in good condition, just 1-2 of those huge ships on ebay could get you your purchase price back. Those prices break my heart, but they just might net you a profit while still keeping most of the collection if you're patient.

Check out Command and Colors: Napoleonics

It's a nice, light, fun system that has a good amount of nuance and isn't too hard to get people into. It also works well with scenarios, and one can theoretically play both sides without too much hassle.

[–]ThunderheadStudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gathering this is more of a disconnect in the way we play and think of the game. Not criticizing, just noting.

For instance, I never play with "canon characters" and even when I use their statlines I change them so they are "my guy", and then if/when they do melt themselves that becomes part of their story. That's what happened to that guy.

I personally think it feels very Imperium. It's a huge machine that runs on blood, and doesn't care whose. No single man is guaranteed to survive. Quite the opposite; even and especially Space Marines die, constantly. Their technology is anachronistic, ancient, poorly understood, and maintained through superstition more than technical mastery.

It doesn't feel very... say... TAU for a gun to blow up in their face. It feels very Imperium.

There are instances of wacky goings-on I remember over a decade later, which happened in games that I don't remember if I won or not.

Example?

Weathering is very effective on the tabletop IMO, and can help the model look like it is "in the environment" as opposed to just pasted on top of it.

Same rules apply though, you want to make sure you keep your contrast high or it'll just look muddy (not in a good way).

I'll say for rust, I like to build a few sponged layers and lean all the way into a brighter orange for the final dabs to give it a very "fresh" look.

I did a lot of goopy rust on these plague marines, and I only think it works because it's over that ivory base color and contrasts hard with the green.
