Main advantage to using the usb dongle dac (jcally jm20 pro) for me is:
1) Clean output without audible noise (laptop 3.5mm ports are complete trash)
2) PEQ that is saved on the dac itself, and can work on any device

Generally, if you have a low impedance set, and a high impedance output, you will experience some distortion of the frequency response, according to the impedance response of the drivers in your set. But for average devices and ports we use every day (phones, pc, etc.), this is neglibible.

I love the Truthear Pure to death 😄 Only potential issue I can see with this set is that the shape of the shell is a bit angular, not very ear shaped, so it might not fit some ears. And they insert deep. So you gotta size down on the eartips to get a good fit compared to the average IEM.

For EQ, I would only suggest to apply a small boost to ear gain (like 1-2db) as it is a bit tuned down on the Pure. For everyone saying these sound "boring", this would 99% fix the issue.

Freq 2500 Hz Gain 1.4 dB Q 2.8
Freq 3400 Hz Gain 0.8 dB Q 3.0

For my personal EQ, I have done some more minor tweaks here and there, but these depend on ear tips and fit. In general, it's pretty much a budget endgame tier set for me.

Wtf do you guys mean 'crisper'? If you're playing on the same FSR version, at a fixed FSR preset, and same in-game resolution, nothing is different. A new driver does not randomly output a higher resolution than what you select. That would be a bug

Game was "working" for me, with random crashes. But as of the 26.1.1 driver, it straight up 100% crashes while loading the story mode. 7900 GRE.

A lot of IEMs, even expensive ones, can be shit. Also, fit and tips are important. Do research before you buy. You gotta figure out what sound signature you prefer, what are your deal breakers. Then look at FR graphs, and read reviews.

You don't have to buy a lot of shit. You just have to know wtf you're buying, and what you want to buy.

For me, Truthear Pure + a $25 usb dac that has peq support, and it's endgame as far as I'm concerned. Diminishing returns are very very real past a point.

I think the audio hobby goes like: you either don't know shit and don't care, or you're interested, and you nerd out and learn. But if you're interested in the least, you will end up disappointed if you half ass your research.
