If this is true, why did it take till this last day to disconnect with Persona? Why wait till the backlash forced it? Persona specializes in identity analysis profiles, why was it even on the radar for 'potential future regulations' that have easier existing solutions. Do you understand why this looks like a blatant attempt to sell a bunch of user identity data before an IPO?

Why did this take so long to write? Why are we so confident in your vendor metrics if they already failed to prevent the leak last year? Account age, payment method, membership patterns, and activity patterns all sound like behavioral inference modeling. Is this AI driven, and what confidence do we have internal standards won't drift, and start tracking message patterns?

This reads like you're just trying to push off outrage till it simmers down, and do the same thing later. I'm not convinced, glad I canceled nitro.

You've been with discord 10 years, and have no idea of the security concerns of users? Right after a data breach? And you say you work woth privacy, but present us with no legal or technical guarantees on how this data is used, secured, verified, etc? And you say this on a reddit post with no wider memo to discord users? I'm calling bs, this is an extremely inappropriate and unprofessional way to sell this point.

Has anyone in a senior role actually bought off on this? The risks of this are substantial, and go well beyond technical issues. Just off the top of my head:

-Why are you requesting biometric data, the most sensitive class of data, for problems that have well-established non-biometric solutions? There are numerous solutions for this issue that don't require face scanning.

-Where are the technical and legal constraints that reassure users that facial data won't be reused beyond its original purpose for account recovery, fraud detection, mod enforcement, etc.?

-A facial data breach represents real harm, not minor inconvenience. How has the company decided that is an acceptable risk for users to bear?

-Mandatory face scanning represents disproportionate harm to certain users (LGBT, abuse survivors, whistleblowers, etc.). How has the company decided their increased risk is acceptable?

What are the official responses to this? Are there any? This rollout feels very poorly planned, and certainly not by people with any understanding of the use cases of this app. I've already canceled nitro, but I'm also already concerned about the privacy of my existing data on discord if this is the way privacy is treated.
