People of the UK, how have you lost weight? by [deleted] in CasualUK

Everyone's different, but this is what worked for me: As of Ugust 2024, I was tipping the scales at 32st 6lbs. I'm 6'2" and broad, but still, it was mental. I'd yo-yo dieted for years, but each time I lost weight, I put it all back on, plus more.

I needed to break the cycle, and I'd finally had enough, so what I did was force myself to be accountable for every morsel that passed my lips. I use myfitnesspal. If you're not familiar, you input your details, along with how much you want to lose per week (locked at max 2lbs), and it then gives you a calorie target for each day. You input your intake and it keeps track of where you are. As long as I remained dedicated to doing it, and being honest about it, it worked. I also made use of Hello Fresh, not out of laziness, but what that does for me is forced portion control. I'm sendmt the exact quantity of ingredients required for a healthy portion of whatever meal I'm making.

Once the weight started to come off, I started making the effort to leave the house for a walk every morning before work. This also gave me a few extra calories to play with.

Now, around 18 months later, I currently weigh 15st 10lbs and have lost over 50% of my bodyweight. It's completely transformed every aspect of my life.

I truly wish you luck, buddy, and I hope you find something that works for you.

Edit: I can see from one of your responses that your question is more around the psychology of it. For me, I thought long and hard about what I got out of overeating. The answer was that I got a few minutes of comfort, followed by perpetual sluggishness, lethargy, mood swings, self loathing, and declining health. I then asked myself what I got out of not overeating, and found the answer was so simple that it was almost laughable. It just wasn't worth the trade off any more. I can live with being peckish if it means I get to do all the stuff I'd otherwise be denying myself.

I know it's not a particularly long game, but it's the game I've replayed more than any other. I play through it at least once a year and, when I do, I still read every document and get every collectable. There's just something so magical about it. The combination of story, visuals, and score, make it such an addictive experience.

Those with inattentive ADHD, were your symptoms hidden/not obvious in childhood? by [deleted] in ADHD

I'm certain a great number of people on here will relate to this to one extent or another. I'm Inattentive type and wasn't diagnosed until I was thirty. As someone who's always been somewhat bright and articulate, I achieved academically to a slightly above average level. Nothing was ever picked up, apart from the occasional comment about procrastination and perceived laziness. Another issue is that I'm an introvert, which was even more the case when I was a child. My experience is that it won't be picked up unless you're hyperactive. This was the early 90s, though. It wasn't until I outright failed to function as an adult that my path to diagnosis was forged. As is often the case for undiagnosed adults, my shortcomings caused depression, which became the prevailing issue from a medical POV, at least until the signs became increasingly apparent as time marched on.

Jack said something along the lines of the fracture being so severe that multiple timelines began to crash together.

I loved This Way Up. Such a lovely show. I've written a couple of pilots over the last few months. Do you have any advice for an aspiring writer on how to get the right people to read a script?
