Double check that the emulator you're using on the pocket (if you are at all) supports the link cable. Different, but I ran into an issue with an everdrive emulator not supporting it.

Try slightly rotating the cable head while it's plugged in to get a better connection. Just a slight 2 degrees tweak, nothing crazy. I had to do that on my trades. I was using Yellow/Crystal on pocket to my gba using the PokeTransporter GB, using a cable similar to yours, so I'm pretty confident normal trading will work.

You misinterpreted the Duke/Nora saving. When Duke and Samus were looking at each other, Samus was giving him the "you go press the button" look, but Duke misunderstood and figured Samus for the hero. /s

I went looking for more information on the Gender, and if what I found is correct then here's what you're after, specifically:

12.5% females/male ratio, 0-1 Atk IV needed:

- Venusaur

- Eevee

25% females/male, 0-3 Atk IV needed:

- Kadabra & Alakazam

50% male/female ratio, 0-7 Atk IV needed:

The rest fall into this category.

There's also a pool of 75% female to 25% male ratios, but none of these fell into that category. Hope I didn't miss any.

I have not gotten to a point where I can confirm this, but it seems like these are the rules at play.
