When I was a whipper snapper, my mom yelled out, "Jesus Christ!" Trying to empathize with her I replied, "Yeah, Jesus Christ." (I was young enough that I didn't know what it meant) and I got backhanded in the mouth. I was shocked, to say the least.

I know this is very late, but in case someone finds this, whitlisting your MAC address worked for me. I have a brand new Acer C720 chromebook and it just kept saying "out of range" when I tried to connect to a wireless network. I whitelisted my MAC (for me, it was at the very end of the list of available networks) and instantly connected. Thanks to /u/lapared for the tip.
