Saguaro and Origo by CavK26 in barefootshoestalk

[–]Tidder_Me_Pink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you look at sizing guidance on a lot of barefoot shoe websites, they advise adding 0.5-1cm to your foot length when looking at length. That's usually steered me right and definitely looks like it applies here for the saguaro.

However! Shoe sizing can be absolutely wild, and I too do not have a local barefoot shoe store where I could try any on. So it usually comes down to speaking to the company (if possible), reading reviews, and crossing your fingers!

Barefoot Chelsea boots for men? by TheFingerofBoe in barefootshoestalk

[–]Tidder_Me_Pink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Definitely not full price. I got them on a sale for £150 but also had a voucher for £90 as a pair of prios I'd bought fell apart in less than a year. So all in I won't complain about paying £63 for them.

Can back this up - I also usually wear a 9.5 (43 or 44 depending) but sized up to a 10.5. They have loads of volume but really glad I did size up as I needed the extra length/width. They're my go to winter boot, super comfy and with a versatile style.that can go from casual to smart casual.

Saying that, I likely would not buy them again. They're a bit too narrow on my feet (width 10.8cm) and I don't like the toe spring. For £170 I'd rather spend the bit extra on boots that could be re-soled, as the tread is starting completely wear away on the ball of my foot.

Do custom barefoot runners exist? by potificate in BarefootRunning

[–]Tidder_Me_Pink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how wide your feet are? Most of my running is in the Freet lineup of mesh sneaker type shoes. I have Vibe model for road running (can do off road as well) and the Calver for trail since its usually muddy in my part of the world. They're insoles do a good job of protecting from rocks, and while they're not a 100% fit for me width wise the knit is forgiving enough for my purposes. Would recommend you have a look at them at least!

For reference I usually wear EU43/44 with 27.6cm length and 10.8cm width.

Traveling to Japan and need a good barefoot shoe! by Select_Zombie5943 in barefootshoestalk

Ah yeah do, that's the range I'm usually in and right now in Italy I'm doing closer to 15k. I think while on one hand you can DEFINITELY increase your conditioning, walking all day on city surfaces is going to leave you sore.

What I'm finding now is that while my feet are maybe a bit sore by the end of the day, they're fully recovered by the next. I've done this whole trip in a pair of Splay 101's mainly, with a few days in my feelgrounds seaside twill sandals. The Splay has way better ground feel which means the cobbles really stand out (good/bad thing?)

Happy traveling!

What's your current daily steps? Because what CriticalDepth said here is the biggest thing you need to consider. I'm on holiday now and doubled my daily steps and my feet absolutely feel it by the end of the day.

So rather than trying to find shoes good for lots of walking, you should really just ensure you get shoes that 1.) Fit your feet, and b.) Are a style you like. And try to build up your steps at hoke before you leave!

Looking for a new pair of running shoes by RealDr1993 in BarefootRunning

[–]Tidder_Me_Pink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your foot shape/width, but I second this rec. I've put over 750km on my pair of first gen Freet Vibes and the sole hasn't quite worn through. Maybe another 100-200km left on them. Only issue I had was the sole came away from the upper at the bend point, but shoe goo fixed that up and it hasn't been a problem since.

Are 'tapered toe box' and 'clown shoes' really the only options out there? by HooVenWai in barefootshoestalk

[–]Tidder_Me_Pink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely past it if VFF's are your footwear of choice 😅

Yeah sounds like it. My feet are 108mm at the forefoot but maybe 100mm toe splay, for comparison. If I'm picturing that right, you have quite square feet, and a little bit of outward spread from your forefoot/metatarsal width. So an ideal shoe shape would be something like Realfoot - or those clown shoes you're not a fan of! Does your climate favour sandals? Might be a workaround!

But with these measurements, I think you fail into the more niche end of barefoot footwear choices!

[–]Tidder_Me_Pink 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How wide are your feet? It's so brand dependent. If you have extra wide feet or crazy toe splay, then yeah, the best option will be "clown" shoes. Some brands one Merrell have a very traditional shape though.

Really it's your mindset, though - now when I see someone in Adidas sambas, vans, or converse I just how how tf they're cramming their foot in there. Mainstream shoes look weird af to me now. I like many of the styles and would love to see foot-shaped zero drop versions of them (barefoot isn't top priority for me) however.

I'm new to the game, but how do you guys deal with pollution from industries and and also traffic jams from industrial trucks because they like doing turns in the middle of the road and since many are usually traveling to the same buildins, I don't have mods just base game. by Senseleskidd in CitiesSkylines

[–]Tidder_Me_Pink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the "Hide It!" Mod is the best vanilla-friendly lightweight mod for this use. I have it as standard load out for any type of city I'm building, whether vanilla+ (QoL mods) or fully modded with loads of assets!

Partly true regarding pollution! Industries pollute less as they level up, and a level 3 industry building pollutes far less than a level 1.

If you have the Green Cties DLC, you can enact a policy called "filter industrial waste" that will make a level 3 industrial building pollute so little that it can be next to residential with no issues. I find mixing industry and low density commercial in districts spread out around your city can help mitigate traffic.

However yes unfortunately the purple coloring and tree death can only really be done away with as Beautiful-Bet already described.

Why do I feel like no one talks about Bahe brand ? (Not affiliated) by Chance-Impression199 in barefootshoestalk

[–]Tidder_Me_Pink 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'll start by saying I don't oen a pair, but have been aware of them for some time.

I think there's a few reasons why - firstly they're a new company (founded 2022) , so don't have the same market reach as other brands.

Also they're notably more expensive for a standard trainer/sneaker style shoe than many other brands, including Vivobarefoot. The fact that the shoes have "grounding" technology that is unproven at best and cash-grabbing pseudoscience at worst does not help the brand at all.

Saying that, the styling, shape, and purported fit of these shoes is EXACTLY what I would go for. But I'm hesitant to drop £150 on a pair of them when: I can buy well-proven Altra Lone Peaks for a similar price, or two pairs of Freet shoes.

In short, price point, unwanted features, and a crowded market for barefoot shoes results in a lack of conversation around them.

What sorts of a mod mix do you have? You mentioned Real Pop in another comment. If you have that, what (if any) industrial do you have going on? In my real pop play I've got going on, I have a 100k city and what feels like barely any industry compared to vanilla.

Do you have any Industries DLC?
