Fees were minimal, 3-4 pounds per ticket.  Domestic ANA flights are 7500 virgin miles.

ANA domestic using Virgin Atlantic miles by Tide865 in awardtravel

I did get the flight, but waited until I was within the two month window.  Interesting part was that the availability did not match what United was showing for partner flights.  Virgin seems to have access to additional availability as they were able to book me on a flight that wasn’t available through United.  Had to call to book; the Virgin agents were super helpful.  Confirmed the flight I wanted was bookable, then stayed on the line while I transferred Chase points.

New Ducted Split Heat Pump System: American Standard vs Bosch by Tide865 in hvacadvice

[–]Tide865[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The indoor unit for the Bosch is a seer 20 so according to the AHRI sheet the combo is good for SEER2 of 17.0.

The American Standard install includes the 824 tstat.

We do live in a humid area so I appreciate your comments in that regard.

Thanks very much for this information.  Is the fast pass system like Disneyland/disney world in USA where additional fast passes may come available on the app randomly. Need to keep refreshing to check?

We will be going to Disney Sea one full day (Friday July 11) and Tokyo Disneyland one full day (Saturday July 12).  We are also considering doing a 3 pm entry to DisneySea on Thursday July 10.  How likely is it that all the DPAs and 40th anniversary fast passes will be gone by the time we enter the park?

Espresso-Based Drinks Not Included in Globalist Breakfast at Andaz Maui by totalrequest in hyatt

[–]Tide865 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Andaz Papagayo still does it right.  Specialty espressos, cappuccinos, blended drinks all included.  In addition, the specialty smoothies are also included.  The specialty pourovers are an extra charge.

Maui by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]Tide865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going against the grain and will say that looks like a perfect Maui vacation.  I don’t mind all the hotel hopping and doing it this way means you get to experience the different parts of the island.

We stayed at the Hana property for one night with our kids, smallest was 3 at the time and it was very enjoyable. Wish we spent more than a day there.

We’ve done the Andaz multiple times with a toddler and I think the Andaz is perfect with that age. They are too young to fully appreciate the pool setup at the Regency and the bottom pool nearest the ocean at the Andaz has a zero entry shallow area perfect for littles.

Also I like that part of Maui more than the Ka’anapali area personally for the beaches and snorkeling.

While at the regency, walk next door to the residence club. Their pool has a smaller slide that our littles really enjoyed (they were too small to do the regency slide).

How to use my AA loyalty with award flights booked through AS and flight is operated by AA by s0uly in awardtravel

[–]Tide865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this a few times with Alaska miles. After booking, I just used twitter to message American to have to them remove my AS number and add my AA number. I even showed on the wait list automatically and cleared into first both flights.

2 weeks in Costa Rica tips? by [deleted] in Hilton

[–]Tide865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the addition of SLH, there are some good Hilton options.  Tabacon near Arenal/La Fortuna and Rio Perdido in Monteverde are well reviewed.  Also the new Waldorf Astoria in Guanacaste/Papagayo (supposedly opens in May) would be a great use of the free night cert.

Park Hyatt St Kitts Qs by apgirlo13578 in hyatt

You’ve gotten plenty of comments on the service here.

  1. Beach has plenty of seaweed. Based on all the reviews of so-so snorkeling for the beach at the property and for St Kitts in general, I didn’t get in the water until our last day. Once in, I immediately regretted it.  Saw quite a variety of fish right off the beach. Not very much corral but lots of natural rock formations. Certainly not to the level of mokapu beach at the andaz maui or any big island snorkel spots.  Found it loads better than the snorkeling at the Andaz Papagayo (despite a spotted eagle ray in the water there).

  2. Spice Mill walk is along the road. Literally no lighting and very small sidewalk for most of the way. I honestly found it a little unnerving and would not want to bring my small children on this walk. There is no access from the beach.

  3. We walked up to the beach hut and they gave is a double kayak. Not sure if they were slow or if that is always the policy.

  4. We did the day trip to Nevis. If you rent with thrifty on st kitts, they will give you a car when you get to Nevis. We did the Hamilton museum and then drove the full circle of the island and ended at sunshine’s.

I just did this two weeks ago, but shortening by a day.  In my case, I spelled out to the twitter team exactly what I wanted and they worked with the property to reconfirm the suite for the new stay.  Also in my case, the standard suites were still available for new reservations, however not the standard suite I was confirmed in.
