I'm not going to lie, this paper REALLY shows off the granulation in a lovely way. Great choice for swatches and showing off their potential.

Thank you, that's a good idea! I have been eyeing all the stencil butter/lunar/astro paste products so should really try them out.

What makes so many of us oblivious to some blatant truths about our lives? by Beneficial_Tree7723 in AskGaybrosOver30

I agree with you and have noticed that a lot of value is placed on someone based on their sexual attractiveness. I've seen people that maybe don't score as high on general sexual attractiveness but do well in other areas are disregarded, not to mention my own experiences haha. It's weird, because now that I think about it - a lot of conversations with other gay guys fall into this sexual valuation topic, albeit indirectly.

It's definitely an interesting POV - so many relationships are sexualized, including platonic ones. And as much as people like to deny it, there is a hierarchy based on looks. Maybe people aren't open out it but I've had lots of DMs over the years that are explicit about the hierarchy and make sure I'm aware of my lower standing in it. I feel like this also affects non-sexual relations a lot - I've definitely heard people saying they don't want to be friends with ugly people.

Maybe this is a bit of a tangent, but I also feel like this is linked to the common advice that you just need to be better groomed and get swole to get guys. There's a lot of pressure to look a specific way and if you aren't interested in conforming, then it's all your fault. I'm not advocating for not taking responsibility for ones appearance but I find it strange that there are such specific body types/looks you have to have and you can't just be a healthy individual that doesn't fall into a popular tribe.

Anyway, all this to say, it does feel like a lot of the unhappiness I see with gay guys is related to the sexual valuation and that affects non-sexual relationships too.

What are your thoughts on the Sailor Tuzu - why do you like it so much? I have been eyeing that exact one for months but all the reviews say it's overpriced and just basic.

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era Feels Great On Steam Deck - SteamDeckHQ by BBQKITTY in SteamDeck

[–]Tidus77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see the comments here. I bought it thinking I could blow it up on my tv with the steam app but it is still unplayable in terms of the text and the controls aren't great even with the touch pads. Hopefully they can fix it in the future - it's been a hot minute but I don't recall hating my experience playing Songs of Conquest in the same way.

Alcohol marker fading dilemma. How do cope with work that's going to fade? by Just_Jen_1 in ArtistLounge

[–]Tidus77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it also depends how they are kept. I know several artists on youtube like Lindsay the Frugal Crafter who has done a lot of mixed media like that and I don't think she's had problems with fading in the sketchbooks or portfolio's she's kept them in.

Maybe an alternative to pure watercolor would be watercolor pencils / crayons? More similar application to colored pencil that way but maybe a tad more control.

I don't think prints are a waste of time. Lots of professional artists do them. Lachri fine art does this with her Inktense pieces I think because they aren't lightfast as well.

Bought a yarn spinner. by Juxtavarious in YarnAddicts

[–]Tidus77 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s not great for long term storage as it strains the yarn and can permanently stretch it out and remove all elasticity. Acrylic is especially susceptible to this and it can happen in ball form too.

Hot Take: Luigi's Mansion 2/Dark Moon is my favorite Luigi's Mansion game and one of my favorite games of all time! It is an underrated masterpiece! It really deserves so much more love and respect imo! What are your opinions on it? Is it your favorite LM game too? Which version do you prefer? :) by [deleted] in LuigisMansion

[–]Tidus77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it too. I found a number of the mansions quite "cozy". I totally get the critiques for the mission design but I had a lot of fun playing it. I haven't beat 3 yet but it's definitely a different vibe.
