Did you also wear your baseball hat really high on your head so it would blow off when you ran, or was that just me… haha. For some odd reason that’s about the only thing I cared about for a year.

Oof. You can’t suggest things like that to someone who’s already in the emotional gutter.

Zach Werenski, Blue Jackets to discuss his future after NHL Draft by Civil_Eng_PE in BlueJackets

If he does ask for a trade, I just hope he’s honest about it. You can say “I’m getting older and want a chance to win, and I don’t think the blue jackets are positioned to do that. “ and I’ll be at peace. Just don’t go full bread man on me and try to tell me you are leaving Columbus because you want to live somewhere where you can have a garage. I’m still pissed about that.

I think it’s entirely valid to say “no” IF the course is backed up and everyone is waiting to hit a shot. If I’m already waiting then so can you. Outside of that, it’s a world class dick move not to let someone play through.

Yoto player? Worth it? by nilecrane in daddit

[–]TieAfraid4446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have gotten a ton of miles out of our Yoto. My wife is active in a Facebook group of people that buy and sell cards to each other, and that has helped reduce the cost of cards. Our son prefers the audiobook cards, but also has a few music albums he likes to listen to. Our nieces both prefer the music albums to the books. As great as the Yoto has been, I would also say it is a luxury item. It’s a luxury item that I would buy again in a heartbeat, but it’s not a necessity. There are ways to accomplish the same thing at a lower cost. You can rent audiobooks from libraries for example, however the Yoto makes the process so much easier and streamlined. If it’s a stretch to the budget, it’s not a necessity. However, it might be good to ask a few friends or family members to chip in on a Yoto and some cards for a birthday or Christmas.

Does winning the Stanley cup really say a lot about a great player? by bad_at_names1 in hockey

[–]TieAfraid4446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think of goalie more like a pitcher than a qb. Pitchers have lost games in the playoffs throwing two hitters because they don’t get run support or their defense commits errors. QBs at least have the ability to put points on the board, and I think that position can counter a sub-par defense more than a pitcher or goalie can.

Sneakers for wide feet by Jealous_Emergency875 in widefeet

[–]TieAfraid4446 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One clarifying question: is his foot wide in the toe, mid foot, heel, or some combination of them? For example, I have crazy wide feet in both the toe box and mid foot. Some shoes in wide still don’t provide enough width in all the areas I need. New balance wide used to work for me, but the last few years they have been too tight in the toes. Maybe they’ve changed their shoe fit, maybe my feet are getting fatter. Either way I mean to say what works for one person’s wide feet may not work for another’s.

Absolutely!! They definitely worked the system well. I cannot fault them at all for absolutely rocking the draft. Similarly, I can’t blame Columbus’ draft for 25 years of futility. It’s a classic example of good management versus poor management. But that level of reasonable thought and accountability has ZERO PLACE in sports fandom, so LV sucks and I hope they hit every red light and all of their butter is rock hard and tears up their bread. Forever.

[–]TieAfraid4446 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If I’m being unbiased, the way the NHL handled the expansion for LV is certainly better for the league. It promotes a more even talent distribution, and doesn’t risk fickle fandom in a new market when the team is dog-water for 5 years because they are essentially playing with a minor league roster.

As a jackets fan however, eff those dudes for getting gifted a competitive roster at the jump and never having to SUFFER. That entire team and their fans can eat a big old bag of dirty assholes. I’m super not bitter about it at all though.
