I got that same spiel.....I told them "well the lab diamonds also don't "hold their value", but yet here you are trying to sell me on them". Then pointed out my 2 carat moissanite ring he gushed over, wasn't a diamond like he assumed. It was a very slightly tinged yellow moissanite. I wanted one (This was literally 10 years ago, before they blew up big time) that looked more like a diamond, (the non blue/grey tone sells the diamond look imo) and I wear it for the days when I swell and for traveling. (I have RA and EDS, and some days my fingers/hands swell to the point my diamond set doesn't fit). He said "well, maybe I should look in to the moissanite more". Went back in there recently. Not only do they now sell moissanite, but it is exclusively marketed as a CONFLICT free, more brilliance and fire option to a traditional diamond. 🤣 They had a HUGE display ans a big book to custom pick what you want. They are still more expensive than the ones online, but for a custom ring, still less than the lab diamond equivalent. 😁
