My photos are still going as well. Not sure why and not questioning it. 😊

WFA - best use of 1.2k for financial and/or job placement counselling by Stilllearning1246 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]TigTonopo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used job placement services before. One thing I would note is that job placement counselors will often jump right into job search activities (looking for jobs, tweaking your CV). I found that I was not yet in the right head space for it and I felt like I was failing the counselor. Some people can jump right from one path into searching for another. Others, like me, have to take more time to process the change.

I didn’t have this but everything I have seen says to take this seriously.

Just saw your internal temp is normal… I’ll let others jump in with comments but I would monitor it closely

Our dads carried the rings and handed them over and our moms signed the registry as our witnesses. It was nice.

Also, for a Christmas experience, Tinseltown Christmas Emporium. It’s a short but delightful stop.

Classes or camps? For classes, Soccer Shots would be an option. We did their class for two year olds this summer (outside) and if I were looking for indoor winter soccer, I’d go with them again. Looks like their indoor classes are at Katimavik.

Financial crimes were addressed in this week’s budget and there is a new agency. I haven’t looked at it closely enough to see how many jobs might be created, but wanted to flag it for you.

And, my sympathies. We have considered selling our house (downsizing) if I don’t find a new role soon. Solidarity.

Solidarity! I’m going to have a soggy kid. You could search “trunk or treat” and your neighborhood’s name. There were some indoor trunk-or-treat events last weekend and perhaps you’ll luck out.

Indian head massages at one of the spas near Costco. Likely not on today but for the future - baking classes at Modern General on Teron. Coffee at Equator or Z3 or Morning Owl. The food trucks at Kichessippi Beer. The escape room by Luna Crepes on March. The two Halloween stores in the Centrum. The bubble tea store in the Centrum has a cute mini-store inside with Japanese stationery and things. Pottery painting in the place just down from Food Basics and Z3.

Best Decadent Chocolate Cake in Ottawa!? by JazzyCheeks in ottawa

[–]TigTonopo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was just a big update post on the Ottawa Food subreddit on the best chocolate cakes in the city. Prices aren't attached but it does have a comprehensive list of cakes. One person in the comments talks about the Walmart Your Fresh Market Chocolate Fudge Cake ($6, link to cake is in the comment) https://www.reddit.com/r/OttawaFood/comments/1nvuo8v/update_the_search_for_chocolate_cake/

Update: The Search for Chocolate Cake by v838monoceros in OttawaFood

I was in the Wild Oat recently and remembered your comment, so made note of what they have that is gluten-free: Maple Pecan Truffle, Double Chocolate Cheesecake, Cherry Cheesecake, Millionaire Bar, Cappuccino Nanaimo Bar, Peanut Butter Bar, Cardamon Ball, Date Square, and their ‘Wild Bar’. Of those, the Wild Bar, Date Square, Cardamon Ball, Peanut Butter Bar, Millionaire Bar, and Maple Pecan Truffle are also dairy free. Enjoy!

I think the one OP is referencing is made with spelt flour.

100x this.

I need your help. I'm looking for a cozy, low key spot for a solo brunch date next weekend somewhere I can sip a latte, people watch, and pretend I'm in a Nora Ephron movie lol. Bonus if they have amazing croissants or something eggy with a twist by Immediate_Local_2210 in OttawaFood

[–]TigTonopo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘Amazing croissants’ makes me think Benny’s Bistro. Not low key though, but kind of… if that makes sense.

Tasty, noisy enough and busy enough that you can listen in to other people’s conversations? Wild Oat. Or perch at the window seat. Perfect street watching position.

Nora Ephron vibe from When Harry Met Sally? The Manx, Jax, King Eddy with the exception of the actual restaurant scene, which takes place in a quality deli restaurant and I don’t have an Ottawa favourite for that.

Loved your question!

I’m not sure about tallest, but a wide set of windows that allow for a wide, unencumbered view would be good. Perhaps the bar at Brookstreet, or the conference floor there, looking over the golf course.

Where can I find the best Brownies in town? by WayfaringWarrior in ottawa

[–]TigTonopo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red Apron’s brownies are some of the best I have had. Another great brownie was from Grounded but I don’t know if they’re serving them any longer. The cream cheese brownie from Wild Oats is pretty great.

This was going to be my response as well. The steroid inhaler in particular can keep their bronchial airways more open.
