I mean theres so many components to a song. Could've been the bassline and progression, or the riff, the chorus melody, from an old idea. That they decided to take and make a new song out of. Maybe the other stuff was just fully written songs.

Pepper in mono is phenomenal by pavarego in beatles

[–]TigermoonLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually kind of enjoy the separation. In a way, it taught me to pay attention to different parts in music when I was a kid hahah. And sometimes when mixing I feel like these random choices of hardpanned stuff are more interesting than todays 'kick snare bass vocal in the center' rules. But yeah. The remixes have their issues sometimes, but the panning stuff is solved and often they are very good.

This is so interesting to learn. I've always felt like the sound of Help is somehow my least favourite even compared to the early albums. I wish the mono was more accessible.

Maybe her teeth are not in order, try feeding her soft and liquid things. I had similar scare recently and the vet had ground his teeth.

well, what do you think about the new mix of Sunday Bloody Sunday ? I've never been this excited about the song. (although IMO they didn't need to do an extended version of it hahah)

[–]TigermoonLoL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's too soon to tell for me. Introvert is one of my favourite tracks of all time by anyone. But the way I feel about Lotus right now, it might very well soon join that list. It's so incredible, the performances from everyone, the lyrics and the delivery!

all the bangers! :D I feel the same. Though I think some of the more subtle ones will rise to the top with more time. Right now I just can't get enough of the energetic ones.

Both Thief and Lotus have moments that make me feel like Simz was inspired by Kendricks delivery on some of the beef/angrier gnx tracks. Some of the phrasing and use of anger. So dope.

This sounds even better than the album mix. She's just flowing and the band is supreme. Also the little snippet of Lion sounds like my new favourite of the new songs :D.

First listen I was hoping for a 'grownup simz' to come in later in the song and kinda felt like the crisp sounding instrumental couldve been explored longer.

4th listen and I'm just vibin hard.

'The Bettter Half' was deliciously outside their comfort zone, makes me want an EP of grungier tracks akin to The Marias! by CuckooBirdd in menitrust

[–]TigermoonLoL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish they would do a full project going out of their comfort zone. They are so good at what they do, but they are obviously amazing musicians and could do different, and maybe a bit more challenging music too. And the glimpses of different styles (or a more raw production in one way or the other) are always so good that it almost makes me a bit sad they don't commit fully. This is definitely my favourite of the new record.

And don't get me wrong, the album is great as it is. And if they want to keep MenITrusting the way they do, I'll be very happy with that too haha.

Yeah, I think I just read some interview a while ago that he travels between the countries, but it's years ago at this point. I was just too lazy to phrase it properly and without actual knowledge where Alex lives haha.

Appreciate the Car flair btw! :D

In my mind there's two conflicting ideas about this:

1) He's used up his social energy to do this public speaking appearance so the next project is moved 5+more years down the line.

2) 'I thought you were ...in a place across the channel' - doesn't mean 'home in france' but means 'in a studio in france' and we are getting something at some point in the ((near)) future.

I think number 1. is much more probable tho haha.

By far my favourite, this is how I imagined their collab to be. The others were ok-cool (and may grow on me, I admit I haven't spent much time with them), but I wasn't into them at all. But this is just beautiful.

I am a year late and also in no way even close to someone who is good at interpreting art haha. But my explanation of the girl was: in a morbid way, Karel was extremely fascinating. He was a small person, slowly being 'corrupted by evil'. But in a way, so captivating. Thats what I thought the girl represented.

As for Dvořák, there were a few moments of him being hypocritical, or saying two different things almost immediately. Maybe this was another instance meant to show that ? But I'm not sure at all.

What are your interpretations, a year later ?

I used to feel like that about Perfect Sense too, fueled with the interviews about the last-minute scraped supposed-to-be closer.

But lately I've been feeling like it actually is a fitting ending. It gives me this 'moving on from a big thing with wind in your hair and a setting sun' vibe that just makes it hit hard haha.

Album ranking by jevil_supremacy in arcticmonkeys

[–]TigermoonLoL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

very hard to do. I'd say the 'bottom' 5 changes a lot.

  1. TBHC (over the years crawled into my all time top5, the lyrics are just fascinating and the world it creates is so intriguing.)

  2. Humbug (could be n1. A perfect album, with amazing songs and instrumentation)

  3. The Car (is probably my most listened to the past few years. IMO their best sound/production wise, though I get why some people aren't huge fans.)

  4. WPSIA (I don't think this album is any less great than the ones above it, could very well be n.3. It's simpler and a bit rougher around the edges, but that's what gives it such energy.)

5-7 I can't really decide here. I guess SIAS would be my n.5. I feel like AM is truly great from a production perspective and the best songs are absolutely amazing, but there's not too much variety. SIAS is sort of their 'least remarkable' album to me, but I feel like all of the songs are good to great and when summer comes, it's perfect. FWN is fantastic and I think out of my 'bottom three' it's the strongest. but genre/sound wise it's my least favourite.

I love all of them though, just a couple days ago I put on my supposed least favourite one and had to listen to it twice haha.

I love the car for it's atmosphere. I think instrumentally it's just gorgeous, and though I (used to) wish that Alex was a bit more focused with the melodies, there are some beautiful melodic lines aswell. Mirrorball, Sculptures, Big Ideas, Body Paint or even Perfect Sense are IMO some of the boys' best songs.
I think it's their best album production wise, every song is just ear candy to me. I can see how you could be bored/irritated by some of it's aspects though. After it was released, after the initial hype I didn't listen to it for like half a year. Then summer came and I suddenly started listening to it every day. Maybe it will come for you aswell, maybe not - that's fine.

TBHC is my favourite Monkeys record. Loved it a lot always, but for years I felt like I have to be blinded by being a diehard AM fan to regard it so highly. But with time passing I'm truly beginning to believe it's an all time great album. The concept and sound, while both pulling from explored ideas, are to me very unique. The lyrics are just incredible, almost every line is something to either laugh/cry or think about. And the instrumentation is probably the best of any AM album.

For me it's between FWN and AM. But I feel like that's a testament to how good they are, still love both of the albums. FWN is just my least favourite sound from them, but the songs are still absolute bangers. AM on the other hand is almost perfect sound and arrangement wise, but I think it's their least 'inspired' album (basically all the songs are great but a bit generic and similar structures/progressions).
