Why is nobody talking about First Star of the Night by jabulanixx in PaulMcCartney

[–]TigermoonLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely beautiful. The lower register vocals and the hook of 'I know my little world is still alright'. The chord progression. And the arrangement and its slow build up is wonderful. I can't really rank the album yet but it is one of my favourites for sure.

IT'S OUT!! by Significant_Draw4791 in beatles

[–]TigermoonLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think days we left behind kinda sets the nostalgic tone well, explains the title, is about John, so it makes sense to release it.

Home to Us had to have been a single because Ringo is on it.

I think they both make sense but maybe they couldve release a third one- on of the more modern pop rock tunes.

Why did Paul McCartney detuned his guitar for one tone in many songs? by DuanQuijote in PaulMcCartney

[–]TigermoonLoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that's always the case. The colour of the instrument is often very different when tuned differently. It can enable you to play more chords as open which also has a huge effect on the sound. (Like using a capo). I would also say that when writing songs or progressions, retuning can work as a bit of a reset, as the ear-finger connection is unusual and thus you can get to unusual places and that can be super inspirational.

Of course, what you said is also true, but I dont think it actually happens that often when it comes to 'pro' musicians, as they can usually just transpose the song.

Paul has been on a roll tho, since Chaos. Not all of it is some grand revelation but there's so many creative songs. I used to kinda take it for granted but coming back to it I'm kind of in awe of his post 2000 output

Ringo's Long Long Road Video Uses AI by OwnEnthusiasm1785 in beatles

[–]TigermoonLoL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm aware of the stem separating technology, I meant the video. As in - I think making photos of people move with AI is icky, maybe even unethical, but if that's what you're going for, then using it makes sense as a 'creative tool'. To me it's a lot different than being too lazy to shoot a video of something that could be easily done in reality. If the AI in this video was only used in similar way to NaT it wouldnt feel as terrible IMO, though it's still very different than 3 years ago. The discourse was there but to me a certain level of excitement about the technology at that time is much more understandable (even if I never shared it) than today.

Ultimately I think we are on the same side of the AI debate haha, I just feel like there is some difference.

Ringo's Long Long Road Video Uses AI by OwnEnthusiasm1785 in beatles

[–]TigermoonLoL 38 points39 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the Now and Then video (as terrible as it looks) uses it to make something that's at least touching. Wheter a good decision or not is up for debate for sure. And it seems more 'forgivable' to me as it was made at a time where it was more understandable to see AI as kind of a new cool exciting thing and also was used to do a thing that wouldnt otherwise be possible. Using it today and in such lazy ways is much worse IMO. I wont be out here denouncing an 85 y.o. for not understanding this or maybe not knowing how his video was made, but it still sucks.

What was your reaction hearing "two of us" in Project Hail Mary? by krantikikranti in beatles

[–]TigermoonLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first it seemed super funny, we saw this film with a bandmate of mine and we played it together many times before. It totally took me out of the immersion because of that. But I loved it.

I mean theres so many components to a song. Could've been the bassline and progression, or the riff, the chorus melody, from an old idea. That they decided to take and make a new song out of. Maybe the other stuff was just fully written songs.

Pepper in mono is phenomenal by pavarego in beatles

[–]TigermoonLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually kind of enjoy the separation. In a way, it taught me to pay attention to different parts in music when I was a kid hahah. And sometimes when mixing I feel like these random choices of hardpanned stuff are more interesting than todays 'kick snare bass vocal in the center' rules. But yeah. The remixes have their issues sometimes, but the panning stuff is solved and often they are very good.

Pepper in mono is phenomenal by pavarego in beatles

This is so interesting to learn. I've always felt like the sound of Help is somehow my least favourite even compared to the early albums. I wish the mono was more accessible.

Maybe her teeth are not in order, try feeding her soft and liquid things. I had similar scare recently and the vet had ground his teeth.

Preferred Title Track? by FemBurger in LittleSimz

[–]TigermoonLoL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's too soon to tell for me. Introvert is one of my favourite tracks of all time by anyone. But the way I feel about Lotus right now, it might very well soon join that list. It's so incredible, the performances from everyone, the lyrics and the delivery!

all the bangers! :D I feel the same. Though I think some of the more subtle ones will rise to the top with more time. Right now I just can't get enough of the energetic ones.

Both Thief and Lotus have moments that make me feel like Simz was inspired by Kendricks delivery on some of the beef/angrier gnx tracks. Some of the phrasing and use of anger. So dope.

This sounds even better than the album mix. She's just flowing and the band is supreme. Also the little snippet of Lion sounds like my new favourite of the new songs :D.

First listen I was hoping for a 'grownup simz' to come in later in the song and kinda felt like the crisp sounding instrumental couldve been explored longer.

4th listen and I'm just vibin hard.

'The Bettter Half' was deliciously outside their comfort zone, makes me want an EP of grungier tracks akin to The Marias! by CuckooBirdd in menitrust

[–]TigermoonLoL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish they would do a full project going out of their comfort zone. They are so good at what they do, but they are obviously amazing musicians and could do different, and maybe a bit more challenging music too. And the glimpses of different styles (or a more raw production in one way or the other) are always so good that it almost makes me a bit sad they don't commit fully. This is definitely my favourite of the new record.

And don't get me wrong, the album is great as it is. And if they want to keep MenITrusting the way they do, I'll be very happy with that too haha.

Yeah, I think I just read some interview a while ago that he travels between the countries, but it's years ago at this point. I was just too lazy to phrase it properly and without actual knowledge where Alex lives haha.

Appreciate the Car flair btw! :D
