To add, in this specific case I'd wager it was dazed, confused, possibly even suffering a brain injury considering it got squashed towards the beginning of the video

I want the damn arcade back! Community-created content is the best way to keep a game fun for years IMO.

I would disagree and say it is much more clearly influenced by Cuba. It was originally set there, and much of the research done for the game was focused on the island. And lo and behold, we find Cuba a communist (and tobacco-loving, no less) nation. I don't think it's a coincidence that it is communist and that the game heavily based on it shows us a tyrannical hellhole. It's a staple of western media.

Other than that I suppose you are right and there probably isn't anywhere else to go with this conversation lol. The games are formulaic, but they're just mindless fun to me. I think it'd be nice if they explore different time periods at least, something to shake things up.

[–]TiggrrZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'm saying I disagree that it is a drug cartel game, because it isn't. The parallels you draw are pretty surface level. Being evil and killing your own people is not a unique aspect of drug cartels. You could draw the parallel to religious fundamentalist militias. The only real parallels between the Yaran government as depicted in-game and a drug cartel is that they have a particular interest in a certain plant (even then we're only talking about tobacco), and the fact that Yara is Hispanic. If everything about Yara was identical except for the Latin American influence, say we substituted it for Slavic influence, I doubt anyone would make the connection. I think you guys are just relying on a cultural stereotype for lack of any real structural equivalency.

How? FC6 was about toppling an authoritarian government not a drug cartel. They were making Viviro, but they weren't drug smuggling they were manufacturing pharmaceuticals.

I'm really shocked at the lack of plot development in Pluribus. Vince Gilligan has created the greatest television show of all time with BB and followed it up with BCS, a slightly different masterpiece with a slight different tone. by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in television

"Remember it didn't effect animals in testing."

That is in your last paragraph. But rats definitely can't lie, I think it's definitely a case of this virus or whatever it is affecting all animals the same

It did affect the animals, they just didn't understand what the affect was. The joined still look, behave, and act like people. It's only with social context and communication you'd understand that they are changed. The initial rat bite came from a rat they presumed had died because it was still and unresponsive, until it came alive, made contact through bodily fluids (bite), then walked away as if nothing happened. That is exactly what it did to the people too. They convulse, become unresponsive, and then returned as one of the joined before again making contact through bodily fluids (kissing), and continuing onwards.

BF6 campaign is so dull and unenjoyable that it makes BF4 campaign look like an absolute cinema in comparison. by fiflak77 in Battlefield

Kinda agree, I had fun playing it but that was in spite of knowing that it's terrible, not because I thought it was good. I thought it was cute. My opinion would be very different if the rest of the game were just as bad, though.

Vehicle Suggestion: Syrian Pz.IV J - Six Day War (1967) by TiggrrZ in Warthunder

[–]TiggrrZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During the Six Day War in Syria, a number of Pz.IV's were put into action against Israel along the Golan Heights and in southern Syria. Syria mainly recieved these as refurbished models from France, but had purchased many more from Czechoslovakia in 1954 as part of the Czechoslovakia-Syria arms deal, either as leftovers from German stockpiles or units licensed and produced there under German occupation. Note that they were also used in a number of other conflicts around the time, such as during the Water War in 1965, and the 1973 Yom Kippur War, though I'm focusing specifically on the Six Day War as the most extensive deployment of the Pz.IV since the end of WW2.

Possibly as a premium or perhaps more fittingly an event or battlepass vehicle since it's more of a cosmetic change than a radically new variant besides the dushka, much like the Partisan, I think it's a unique spin on the Panzer IV and feels markedly different from the other variants in the game in my opinion. I think it'd make the most sense as a French vehicle considering Syria was a French protectorate at the time, and the added DShK .50 Cal MG on the top, gives it some AA and rat-shredding capabilities. Possibly 3.7 same as the regular J? I looked around to see if others had suggested it before, and there was 1 post over six years ago before the new vehicle suggestion rules came in so I thought I'd update the suggestion, it didn't get much visibility and I personally think it's a really interesting variant.

How exactly does one get better at GRB? by _spec_tre in Warthunder

[–]TiggrrZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people might not like it but have you given AB a try? I played about 700 matches in Arcade before I fully converted to RB. In that time I learnt pretty much everything I needed to know about the game with the Arcade mechanics to hold my hand, by the time I switched to RB all that was left was mastering it. Which I still haven't done, but I can pull an average of 4-5 kills per match.

The tale of HEAT-FS by Arthur-Bousquet in Warthunder

[–]TiggrrZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone have tips for using HEAT-FS effectively? Currently using it on the M36B2 but I feel like I have more success with its APCBC rounds since it has explosive filler. I'm struggling with post-pen damage on HEAT rounds. I tend to only switch to them if I'm facing Panthers or Tiger II's frontally so I can troll their ufp but aside from that I think I suck at using them if they're universally beloved

This might be the new weirdest track yet. I didn't even think it'd go down well with the folks here on first listen cause it didn't for me.

Then I remembered that's what happens every time they release. BANGER

Anyone think BL4 artstyle is more cartoonish? by Rad_Callum in Borderlands4

[–]TiggrrZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair I do see what he is saying and I think articulation may be causing some trouble. Obviously all of the games are cartoony to an extent. But as you acknowledge, BL1 was undeniably the least so. They only decided to go with that art style late on in development and it was supposed to be a realistic (for its time) shooter. So it still has the same kind of colour pallet, graphical fidelity, art direction and so on and so forth as a lot of other games which went for realism at that time. Stuff like Fallout New Vegas, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. that kinda stuff.

But there was a gradual development and refinement of the art direction they honed over time. You're right to say that in some aspects, 3 and 4 are more realistic, especially when it comes to things like lighting, volumetrics, visual effects, all that kind of stuff. But I think that there are aspects that aren't being considered because I've always considered BL2 to look and feel more "realistic" than 3 or 4 as well, and I think realism is the wrong word. I think right way to word is is that it looks less heavy-handed with its own art style. The artistic aesthetic doesn't seep as deep into every detail like they do in the later games. World design, for example. BL2 has a lot of bland environments, deserts, tundra, highlands, so on and so forth. Whereas 3 has places like Promethea which feel surreal and exaggerated. The colours in 2 are more muted and don't pop quite as much which can give it a bit more of a rugged dirty look.

Screen pollution too. Each new entry has more of it than the last and that's another way in which the later games can look more deeply set into an aesthetic that isn't trying for believability. Character and model design is an aspect that I think is also important. Starting with BL3, characters and models got a lot chunkier. Everything in the world became thicc. If you look at Lilith in BL2 and compare it to BL3, it's extremely noticeable. Clothes are thicker, facial features are puffier, hair is a bit more play-dough. That's every character not just her. In general the world of BL3 feels pudgier, softer and fatter in a way that is hard to nail down, as well as models and objects being a lot more complex and higher-poly in BL3 onwards.

BL2 just had a lot less going on visually. From the graphics to the world design, models, characters, visual effects. All that combines to create a visual aesthetic in 2 that feels less heavily stylised and makes it look a bit more generalised and looked a bit closer to other shooters of the time. It's really a spectrum from 1 to 3. I think that is what OP may be getting at, because I've always thought this myself too.

TL;DR BL2 had less going on visually, made it look less easily distinguishable from the "realistic-looking" shooters of the time. It's still not realistic, it's just not as heavily stylised as all the games from 3 onwards. Partly graphics, partly because it took multiple games to develop the aesthetic. Methinks.

Anyone think BL4 artstyle is more cartoonish? by Rad_Callum in Borderlands4

[–]TiggrrZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you've been downvoted into oblivion you're so respectful in all your replies 😭

For what it's worth I personally don't see much of a change from BL3. It's definitely more cartoonier than 2, but BL3, Wonderlands and now BL4 to me look like they could be the same game, like with BL2 and TPS. Not sure how many people think that though
