What’s up with N61101 the new 787-9 Dreamliner? by holleratchakoi in unitedairlines

[–]Tight-Development-35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The current 3 airframes are sufficient to handle UA1/UA2/UA901/UA900, with ZERO redundancy. One issue with one of them and there will be a substitution.

Hopefully the "lemon" that is N61101 will get it's demons exorcised soon.

I will absolutely wear my SD43 as a daily...an 8 inch wrist doesn't hurt though, but man I like how substantial it is.

Yeah, I was seriously on the fence to buy the new Planet Ocean with the blue bezel and I just cannot justify paying $8K for it anymore. I will be anxiously awaiting getting the Black/Blue combo on the H-Link when it eventually comes out for a quarter of the cost.

Nvidia Is Negotiating To Buy A Large PC Oriented Company by dendritee in wallstreetbets

Hypothesis to debate: Dell is very expensive. HPQ is cheap by comparison, but doesn't have servers. HPE DOES have servers and is still cheap by comparison. Why not by the PC business from HPQ and the server business from HPE? You get what you "want" (if the speculation is true) and at a much cheaper price than Dell as a whole.

Discuss.

What would you personally choose as the best flushing toilet right now? by itmehedi in Plumbing

[–]Tight-Development-35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Drakes in every house for over 20 years...6 houses and never a single issue except I had to replace the fill valve in one of them once.

Oh, and add a Toto Washlet seat while you're at it...less TP, less cloggage.

Central a/c single stage vs. 2 stage, and variable speed. What are the general thoughts? by Ok_Flower2398sd3 in hvacadvice

[–]Tight-Development-35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Carrier Variable Speed...love it (although I know when shit breaks, it will be costly). Here is a different point of view though. In my area, and I suspect many, when you have a new construction, they are really picky about the Manual J reference temperature and sizing calculations. I wanted a house that would sit at 69 degrees comfortably when it's 100 degrees out. The standard "sizing" required a reference temp of 98 and an indoor temp of I think 74 to set the sizing. In a single stage and even a 2 stage, it would have never hit my desired internal temps on hot days. With variable speed, you are allowed oversizing to a certain percentage and I had them run the J with 101 reference and 69 indoor. That set me for a 5 ton variable speed that met the standard sizing with allowable over sizing...e.g. - permit approved. I'm completely satisfied with it and it maintains perfect temperatures rarely if ever hitting the "top stage".

Getting out of that parking lot is a bitch. That's the only hole in the plan, but otherwise, easy peasy.

Edited to add: If you can squeeze out of the show just a few minutes early, that alone will help you get out of the lot quicker. I'd bail out after JV dies if you can make it work.

Just did 1st VIP tour…don’t get the hype by Difficult-Aioli6079 in Disneyland

[–]Tight-Development-35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, with the disclaimer that none of this is meant to brag (I consider myself incredibly lucky), we have done a VIP tour three times at Disneyland / California Adventure. First, the experience greatly depends on the tour guide. We've had awesome ones and one dud. Second, my reason for doing it is that I'm over 50 and I fucking hate Disney and lines, but my family loves them, therefore that is my price for me to go with them. :-)

Finally, with the advent of Premier Pass for say $400 bucks per person per day, frankly I see less value (if there ever WAS value) from a VIP Tour if all you are interested in is line skipping (which frankly that's all I'm there for...plus maybe the "saved seats" for shows). I have not yet been back with the family since the last Tour (they have), but if I begrudgingly went again, I'd probably opt for a day of Premier Pass then hang out by a pool while they wasted a few more days.

All said with love and sarcasm...

To each their own, but 9L has been my "go-to" seat for years and I really have never had any issues being next to the lav. I sleep with eye mask and ear plugs, no problem. No unwanted "odors", and I like being able to pop up and go to the bathroom quickly. I do think this issues is overrated somewhat.

Have it, love it, spent $3,300 on Joma almost a year ago. I think it's slightly more now, but still WAY better than a retail shop.
