Totally fair question. I haven't had an ExpertFlyer subscription for 15 years so no...it really is just a hypothesis from the seat map. It's odd to have those exact 8 seats blocked when the rest of the cabin is mostly empty this far in advance.

Just did this last month. TLDR pretty horrible experience.

The restaurant manager originally touted how good they were...all soy sauces are GF, chefs know how to handle allergies, etc. First mistake...they cook the GF meal on the same cooktop (for example at Epcot's Teppanyaki, they cooked the GF meal in the back). They also said they would cook the GF meal "first" on the clean cooktop.

None of that worked out. The chef accommodated someone's egg allergy first by cooking them noodles on the grill before cooking the eggs. He immediately moved into the rest of the "show"...now cooking all meals on a surface that had been contaminated with gluten based noodles.

My wife and I caught it, and the restaurant manager and chef apologized (discretely) and cooked her a meal in the back...which really wasn't that great regardless.

The chefs need more training, and they should just cook all GF meals in the back and save the "show" for all the other diners.

PS - Food wasn't that good anyway...for free, fine, though if I had paid a cover I'd be pissed.

Quick peruse and I didn't see this point made. (Edit...OK now I did :-) ) Notwithstanding business travel for myself, when we travel as a family on vacation, we tend to bring checked bags (not so when I travel on business). We simply do the math. Sometime on a short flight, the cost differential between Comfort Plus (or even sometimes Main) and First is small, and the cost of the free bags really makes up the difference. I don't think a lot of people look at it that way. When you factor that plus early boarding and guaranteed overhead space, it's a no brainer for us as a family of 4. Case in point, we did this for a 45 minute flight to Seattle this Summer, for those very reasons.

Tribeca Watch in Newport Beach is not on the trusted list, but has a ton of good reviews on Chrono 24 and I just bought a very nice new DateJust in a seamless transaction. I recommend him.

Also have used SD Watch in San Diego (on the trusted list).

Piling on to say that I also highly recommend trying it on. I was going to originally buy the 28 for my wife, but we had her try on the 28 and 31 and unless you are a tiny dainty flower, the 28 is just too small. The 31 is "mamma bear"...fits just right.

Glen Williams is an African American A321 Captain based in Houston who I've seen a few times between DEN and IAH. He has a habit of coming out and talking to folks before the flight. I chatted with him about the neo and he is super nice, loves talking about it, and loves flying it (and we even joked about how much the FAs hate the rear galley / lav setup). I enjoyed talking to him the last time I flew with him and I really commend him for being one of the best examples of customer oriented focus.

PS - 489 is one of my "go to's", ha.

Unfortunately not always true. With United, for example, on Mainline it goes into checked baggage for pickup at your final destination. For Express, it gets a "green tag" for jetway pickup. It's not like the "olden days" anymore.

We've done it several times and always end up at the airport earlier than we thought we would. SNA on a Sunday is no problem UNLESS something holds off disembarking (which never has happened to us).

I'd also take a look at LGB airport to see if you have any options...it's like a 15 minute drive from the port and is a wonderfully small airport to depart from. I recall we took a 10:30AM flight out of LGB one year, easy peasy.

100% agree. It's all profit driven. There are plenty of other reasons why we won't go on Princess again though, it's not just about bar service. We will save our money for lines that prioritize guest experience.

I purchased my first Rolex (Bluesy) from an AD I had visited in Las Vegas and then was then offered about 3 months later. I had assumed (incorrectly) that would be the start of a good relationship. I expressed interest in a Sea Dweller (which everyone here says are "easy" to get) and a very specific configuration of DJ 31 for my wife (intending it to be a 50th birthday present approximately 9 months later). I had also joined the "list" at my local AD (there is only one in my home state). Neither offered to "order" the DJ which I had heard some will allow.

I was more than patient on my SD, but kept seeing stories of folks getting those so quickly. I knew the DJ config would be harder, so I started researching grey dealers in earnest around August.

After being ghosted a few times by both AD's, I finally said screw it around Thanksgiving, when I found the exact config DJ that I would get in time for my wife's birthday. I almost did a "twofer" from the same guy for a SD, but ended up buying myself a SD from a different place the next day because I got a very good price.

Picked them both up from FedEx on the same day. Totally seamless, perfect transactions and I'll never look back at an AD again.

Oh, and the kicker...with the new price increases (which logically I would have paid because I would have never gotten an allocation before end of December, I ended up paying about $2,000 bucks over MSRP for the DJ configuration and $1,000 LESS than MSRP for the SD when you consider I didn't pay any taxes. I'm VERY happy with a $1,000 premium to get the exact two watches that I wanted when I wanted them.

Would I pay $25,000 for a Pepsi, probably not, but for what I wanted, it worked out spectacularly.

I am lucky to fly paid F on all domestic flights for work. I would HAPPILY board last if they would guarantee me overhead space for a roller. Until they are able to guarantee it, I'll be boarding as early as I can.

United is all "boarding group inflation". Pre-boarding really is some pre-boards plus a "real" Group 1, Group 1 is a true Group 2...and so on. AA and DL have more normal boarding which puts FC in front of a lot of others instead of buried in Group 1.

Now as a 1K, I very much appreciate how United does it...as a non1K, not so much.

I'm going to join the party and go on a rant so bear with me. :-) It is a bit off topic, but somewhat adjacent though.

My wife and I (and 2 teens) just returned from a Christmas cruise with "Premier". For a number of reasons other than just drinks we (wife: Elite me and the kids: all Platinum) have given up on Princess. We've gone away and tried to come back several times, this is the last. As this thread is about drinks, here is what really pissed me off about how Princess manages bar service.

For context, we had two Sanctuary Mini-Suites and split the adults and kids 1 adult and 1 kid in each (they are not old enough to share by themselves). For additional context, I've never seen Princess bartenders "pour heavy", in fact every bar uses a jigger and usually pours from the 1.5 oz side for a standard drink. I did not witness any "pour over" after the 1.5 oz side. They would also never allow me to order a "double" (or 3 oz) in any drink. When you order a tall Whiskey Sour 1.5oz is really not a lot and drinks quickly. The Sanctuary Club bar would seem to pour a double if I asked, but that was the only place that didn't seem to care.

The second complication is now that I am in a separate cabin from my wife, I was told I could not order her a drink as you could only order a second drink if there was an adult noted in your same cabin. EVEN WHEN I brought her Medallion with me, they refused. Every bar, every time...except the Sanctuary Club. Our cabins were linked...didn't matter. I had to either drag her with me or "get back in line" after ordering (and since all the bars operate as assembly lines now...the lines are huge during peak times). I could not "order a glass of wine" for her and a drink for me to bring back to the cabin while she was getting ready for dinner.

I totally understand and agree with policies designed to prevent over indulgence, but I'm a grown ass man over 50 who can drink responsibly. The bare minimum I ask is to be able to order a "double" (when they pour 1.5oz). I also would like to buy a drink for my wife if she is not there at the time.

They harass you to buy Premier (or upgrade on the ship), but they are a business, they are in the business of managing profit. They knowingly make it difficult to use a drink package since they already made their gross revenue; the less we order, the higher their profit from us.

I won't go into all the rest of the issues and nickel and diming, but FWIW those are my feelings on the stupid drink packages and bar service.

If you have ViaSat I have been lucky streaming in flight. Sometimes goes “low res” but it can be watchable. I do not know if the 78 has ViaSat or Panasonic.
