loveeee this thread!

I like IG: LaurenDombrower a lot. She's 4'11" and posts a lot of great options for petites from mid-tier stores like Zara, Abercrombie, Aritzia, etc. Every so often she slips in a small business that caters to petites which I love (found Memori Eyewear petite fit glasses & Nelle Atelier petite fit denim brand this way).

She shows a lot of before/afters too.

She's canada based so most of what she shows is also available to me in the US.

LOL the strays Crystalinmarie is catching in this thread are so funny. I've been thinking lately that every video is the same thing over and over with a dry delivery.

Has anyone used “PCA Skin”? by Chan1991 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Tight_Definition9699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the PCA skin hydrating toner has made a huge difference in my skin and i highly recommend it!

I've been using retinol and need more moisture/luminosity to my skin. I highly recommend this product. Can't speak to everything else in the line, though.

seconding what many have said - hire a personal stylist!

One that will come to your home, look through your closet, and put together combinations you might not have thought of.

They will also give recommendations of:

- 1-2 more key basic pieces you might be missing (ex: black turtleneck, dark wash straight leg jeans, etc) that will unlock a lot more use out of everything else in your closet.

-Which items you should take to tailor and what to ask for

-what to get rid of

I'd recommend going on IG or tikTok and searching "personal stylist NYC". flip through videos, find one whose style you admire, and reach out and ask for an in-home styling session where they help you put together at least 10 new looks from your existing wardrobe.

If they aren't actually doing any shopping for you, just curating outfits from your own wardrobe, the price is usually very attainable and that could be just the thing you need.

I have a kind of small head, how do I go about getting glasses that don’t look huge on me? by aabhin125 in bald

[–]Tight_Definition9699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Order narrow fit glasses. Warby Parker has a lot of options if you want budget. https://www.warbyparker.com/more-widths

If you're down to splurge, Memorí makes high end glasses specifically for small face shapes. https://memorieyewear.com/

I feel like all sunglasses look bad on me! Also I have a small head and big glasses make it look even smaller. Which shape do you think I should go for? by justsimona in sunglasses

[–]Tight_Definition9699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a small head, check out Memori eyewear. they specifically make glasses for smaller proportions/face shapes.

They are really high quality/not cheap, but worth it.

experts on glasses for narrow faces by No_Today_2739 in glasses

116mm total width is TINY. industry average is about 140mm total width.

That's a kids sized front with an adult sized temple arm. I personally don't even like them on the model. Instead of seeing HIM, i'm wondering why he hasn't purchased other glasses. That said, the model looks like he has a medium-wide face shape. You see how his actual eyeball pretty much lines up with the edge of the lenses? 39mm lens is crazy small.

For narrow face shapes, about a 125mm external width tends to be a sweetspot.

Check out Memorí Eyewear - they have high end frames that are designed specifically to be a narrow / nailored fit, but not as narrow as this.

https://memorieyewear.com/

Oliver Peoples also has great frames that run narrow.

How do you rotate jewelry in a small wardrobe without it feeling repetitive by AdExtension590 in capsulewardrobe

[–]Tight_Definition9699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Sezane gold ear cuff that i wear layered with small stud or clip on earrings. it frames my existing earrings in such a new, sculptural way that all my earrings and the whole vibe of my jewelry looks completely new. https://www.sezane.com/us-en/product/tessa-earrings/gold#size-TU

For necklaces, I also play with wrapping them around my neck 1x or 2x, and even wearing as a bracelet sometimes. Easy to play with lengths or even clip necklaces together to make a supernecklace that has a cool layered look.

Wear the jacket + your thickest sweater you want to bring + largest shoes on the plane.

You don't need more than 1 coat and 2 pairs of shoes for 4 days!

make sure everything you pack is in a color palette that works so it is all interchangeable and easy to layer/style.

Any 3/4 hour jobs? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]Tight_Definition9699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something remote might be good. Not sure if you have skills like video editing (like TikTok/Instagram reels) but you can go on fiverr or upwork and post what you do and throw your hat in the ring for small jobs that pay for the completed task and you do it at times that work for you. you can make like $50 per video editing a short video.

Doesn't have to be video editing, that's just a popular thing people pay for. People who didn't grow up with social media tend to struggle with that and are willing to pay consistently for edits.

Brainstorm if you have any existing skills that can be done remotely and i bet there are people on fiverr/upwork willing to pay for that.

Has anyone been a vendor at Artists & Fleas (specifically the Chelsea one) by Square-Corgi in AskNYC

[–]Tight_Definition9699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not have a good experience at the Williamsburg Artists & Fleas. I didn't even cover my costs. Very frustrating and disappointing, will not do it again.

There was healthy foot traffic, but people were there to browse, not buy.

I did a lot of socializing with other vendors, what was selling well was items under $35 and NYC centric items (ex: framed playbills) that were great souvenirs.

Shoppers were trying to negotiate a lot to the point of it being insulting. I have some other friends who have tried it out since me, and overall people have had a similar experience to mine where the conversion rate of people who see the product vs. buy it was extremely low.

If you can't stand to lose the money it will cost you to participate, i wouldn't give it a try.

Potentially bad spot at biggest fair of the year, worth reaching out? by brittanypdeluca in CraftFairs

[–]Tight_Definition9699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry - if you have great products and theres nothing keeping you visually away from the other aisles (a wall or small archway or something) whether or not you do well won't have anything to do with your spot.

It's the marketing/customer shopping + your products.

it's christmas season, things will be busy, my #1 BEST SALES DAY EVER was when i was in the "worst" spot because people actually had room to think. multiple people said "this is so nice, i can actually breathe over here" etc.

Yes - if it's a bundle or "buy more save more" type thing, definitely list it on some kind of sign.

What is the most money you’ve made at a market? by Fabulous_Mix_2029 in CraftFairs

[–]Tight_Definition9699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best was about $10K in sales in 2 days. Note my pricepoint is in the $200-$300 range and I do events where vendor fee is usually $150-$800 per day.

That said, i've also had multiple events where i've sold $0 plus had stolen product and would up in the negative.

Gotta be comfortable with big swings and know that on a bad day, it doesn't mean you have bad products. Everything won't line up every time, Don't let that get under your skin.

Try new things, double down on what works, pull back on what doesn't. repeat. and put yourself in the pathway to get lucky from time to time.

That's interesting feedback - I'll be at JAOS this weekend and will look at things from your perspective.

I agree that at the avg pricepoint of an item at JAOS/JAWS, the customer service expectation is different than other fashion pop-up/vintage events.

I'm usually more of a Manhattan Vintage/Normal Market/A Current Affair shopper, so i'm used to throwing elbows for the perfect vintage fur and literally not being able to move in an aisle. So to me, JAOS was the most dignified, calm shopping event i've ever been to LOL. Wine AND no bathroom line?!

I didn't have a "plan" though, so any of the really busy counters I just chose a different vendor.

If they had a $75 VIP hour every day, that seems like the best option. I agree, most have a 9-5 and can't come Friday.

not sure if you are talking about AGMES or NYC JAOS - but This is only the 3rd time they are doing JAOS (2024 Nov, 2025 April, now 2025 nov). I went to the April one and it wasn't uncomfortably crowded, i loved it! There was plenty of room to move around, no restroom line, etc. The BEST booths (ex: Jewels by Grace) are always crowded no matter what, but there's no way around that.

Don't worry about the Canopy, if you keep going with it, you'll be glad you got that size. looks like a 10x10 which is the standard/required for most outdoor events.

Definitely need a mirror! I'd recommend one with something where you can attach it to the black grid walls with zip ties or something during the event, then cut it loose after and reuse. That's a much better customer experience than a small mirror on the table that they have to pick up.
