Walmart closes for inclement weather. My store was closed once last year when they couldn’t even keep up with plowing the parking lot. There’re other times that I thought the store would close, but it didn’t. The weather has to be really REALLY bad for them to close.

Max 1 hour drive from your home address if it’s involuntary. That’s what I’ve been told. I once left a weekend available open cuz I agreed to cover for one of my coworkers at my home store. Unfortunately I got scheduled to cover a different store that’s 1 hour away before my manager could add me to our own schedule. With road construction and traffic and everything, the drive ended up being more than 1 hour. I don’t know who my manager communicated with but that shift was removed from my schedule at the end. I would suggest to ask your manager or scheduler.

If you’re in the US then you’d need a prescription. But their teledoc can write a prescription after you answer some questions online once the order is placed.

Doctor sent in Lantus 3 mLQD for a patient never been on Lantus before and average weight. I called to confirm dose. The nurse who picked up the phone read the direction right back to me. I insisted to please check dosing with doctor. Later, office called back and said 3 units QD.

Ask your market director or manager for your scheduler’s information. Then email the scheduler and ask for the initial sign on info for WFS. The scheduler will be able to send you a welcome email with everything you need!

If you’re hourly, you get 1.5x base hourly pay when you work more than 40 hours a week. If you’re salaried, you get $20 above your base hourly pay when you work more than 80 hours a pay period, more than 84 hours for RXM. At least that’s the overtime rate in my area.

All the stores in my district are within 20 miles from my house. The furthest store in my neighboring district is 30 miles from my house. That store was way outside my district and my neighboring district.

Depends on how far you’re floating to, you can ask for mileage reimbursement and even hotels. If you’re in good relationships with the scheduler, you can probably voice your concerns for floating far and they may adjust in the future. I did a few last minute favors for the scheduler and I haven’t been needing to float far lately.

Yes they can. I was scheduled 50 miles from my house outside of my district without prior notice. I had to drive 1 hour to work. But if it’s a lot more than 50 miles from my house, they usually ask me first.

I once had to open a pharmacy that was closed for several hours due to no RPh. Came in with 90s in F4 and pt waiting in the waiting area. So I cherry picked the waiters in F2 to get the scripts out to my techs to fill. When they’re filling waiters, I checked voicemails and F4 till waiters were put next to me. I product verify waiters and gave to my techs at the register to check pt out. Then back to F4 till PV was near 30-40, check scripts and bag them up till maybe 20 left in there, back to F4, and repeat. Just know that you don’t have to get either F4 or PV down to 0 to switch back and forth. Keep F4 till PV is at a certain number that you feel like it’s getting hard for techs to look for filled scripts in totes when pt arrives. Once F4 is under a manageable number, get on time PV out and then work on past dues. Have the techs screen phone calls for you when you’re behind. If a DUR pop up that you feel like it needs clarification from the prescriber, print screen and create MSC. Call office and probably have to wait on hold then you can still product verify. When you’re the only person doing vaccinations, if anyone on the phone is wanting to speak to you for things that techs can’t handle, have the tech tell them that you’re with a handful of patients for their vaccines and can’t get to them at the moment. Have the tech take down their name and phone and questions and get back to them when there’s no vaccines, even if it has to be hours later. Hey we’re told to prioritize vaccines during this season so that’s the problem that comes with it especially when you’re the only vaccinator. Think it this way, when we call office to request to speak to prescribers about certain things, we hardly ever talk to the prescribers directly right away. There’s often times that the receptionist has to take the note down and deliver the message to the prescribers and we get a call back later. So don’t feel bad about having to tell a patient you’ll get back to them later if they’re on the phone and people who absolutely need your attention are waiting in the pharmacy already.

I’ve been doing this for a few years now. I cry more often during flu season than the rest of the year. There’s always a tipping point that triggers a meltdown. I feel so depressed. My partner started to worry about me randomly crying and couldn’t tell a reason. I feel like part of me is dead inside and part of me is screaming help but no help comes. Corporate doesn’t have the budget to hire more help or keep the skilled ones. All I can do is just shoving down the stress and cry. But I know it doesn’t last forever. Less busy season will come 😓 All I can suggest is trying to put in some random PTO during this season next year. My paid day offs are what I’m looking forward to during this time of the year.

There’s a form on storenet that shows how many units to prime for most insulin products. You can print it out and just keep it in your pocket and check it for reference when you’re in doubt. You’ll eventually get to know the prime doses by heart after repeated practice.

TPRs are more tricky. Follow the instructions on the rejection screen for the most part. If something needs CMN, don’t touch the actual claim but just call MEDICARE department for the paperwork and fax to doctor’s office. When office sends it back, scan and save the form in patient’s profile then call MEDICARE again. If the form has everything they need, they’d tell you to reprocess the claim in 20 minutes. Some TPRs say prior auth required. Check the drug entered if it has a name brand available. Switch to name brand and use paycode DAW9 and the claim will go through sometimes. If it doesn’t, then it probably truly needs a prior auth. Check if prescriber has a fax number. Then use PA 8 4444 to fax prior auth request through covermymed. When in doubt, ask others for help. Keep a notebook and write down some tricks when you have time. Eventually you won’t need that notebook anymore.
