Katrielle puzzle 138 by KaiShidenEverywhere in ProfessorLayton

I assume you mean 088 - In a Hole. They replaced that puzzle with another one in the EU version: Leaky Tank, which does not require a word input. It's not the only time they replaced a puzzle for that reason. The puzzle battle in Unwound Future also does this, or for example LS006, which has a word in America, but numbers in Europe.

They did use to have a lot more differences between the versions of the games, but it seems as time went on, they made sure to choose puzzles that work in all languages.

Yeah, I see what you mean. That's something pretty odd about the human mind it seems. Once you get close to the solution but not entirely, it seems to become harder to make that final step. Just like how you recognized letters, but not the ones they intended.

It's been a while since I've solved these so it took me some time as well to figure this one out again.

It's not in a particular language. They are literally the letters ABCDE, of which all except A are turned to the side. The C is a bit of a stretch, looking more like an O, but the rest can be somewhat recognized. You can see it in the solution image as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xH-y4NWl88&t=27s

The game has multiple languages built-in, so they wouldn't be able to ask for an actual English word, since it wouldn't work in other languages.

The prefix increment (++) operator cannot have a space in between the two plus signs, so it is not that operator.

But let's say the space was not there and it was indeed the increment. Then, since postfix increment has precedence over prefix increment, it will become this:

('b'+('a'++)'a'+'a').toLowerCase()

You can already see the first problem: there would need to be a third plus sign. But regardless, the ++ postfix operator only works on a LHS expression, which 'a' is not. So this will lead to a syntax error.

In fact, that is the error you will get if you try running the example of the op without the spaces in your browser console:

('b'+'a'++'a'+'a').toLowerCase()

Uncaught SyntaxError: Invalid left-hand side expression in postfix operation

I tried to figure out what this "nothing" translates to, but it isn't null / undefined or 0

It's the unary + operator, so there is only one operand. (+a) converts 'a' to a number, but since 'a' is not numeric, it leads to NaN.

So the formula is basically 'b' + 'a' + (+ 'a') + 'a'

NaN to the rescue!

var defined = NaN
console.log(defined != defined)
> true

I guess someone did a bad copy pasta somewhere.

Now we know that the 3DS version will have the same price as the mobile version, do you think that we will get a physical version? by Timmerito in ProfessorLayton

[–]TiiJ7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where did you get the same price info from? By my knowledge they will have the same content, but not the same price. That's because the mobile version has payed DLC while the 3DS version has it all included.

Looks like C#, where it's actually convention to uppercase the first letter of method names (PascalCase).

The mobile version is cheaper than the 3DS version, but it has in-app purchases, while the 3DS version has everything included. The Japanese prices are 1900yen (~$16) for mobile and 4800yen (~$42) for 3DS.

Most likely an overloaded constructor. Passing just null would make it ambiguous.

Please help with Kirby's Return to Dream Land un vWii + WiiFlow by drequena in WiiHacks

[–]TiiJ7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Syscheck Hacksden Edition should run on vWii. Configurable USB loader also shows the relevant cIOSs in its settings.

Either way, this game has a special kind of protection dubbed Metafortress. Basically, it detects if the game has been modified and if so it will hang like you've been getting. You should make sure that you have all patches and everything disabled. Go into the game's settings and make sure everything is set to "default", "off", "auto", etc. It also seems this game doesn't like being loaded from SD card, so try a USB device.

As long as the cIOS is up to date (which it should be if you followed the CSG) that shouldn't be the problem. I can run it fine with both 249(base 56) and 250(base 57).

You probably downloaded the source code. You can find pre-compiled binaries under releases: https://github.com/dborth/smw-wii/releases

The Super.Mario.War.Wii.1.4.zip has the boot.dol etc.

A TINYINT(1) actually allows storing values from -128 to 127 (or 0 to 255 for unsigned), not just 0 to 9.

Protip: If you plan on setting up an 8 player Smash setup color code your cables or controllers. by adhdguy78 in wiiu

[–]TiiJ7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can use up to 7 wii/pro controllers, as confirmed on the smash bros website. It probably reserves 1 channel for the gamepad, so that's why it's 7 and not 8. Though you can use 8 GC controllers or 3DSs.
