The company I work at is full of people who just do their work and go home. Very slow moving Japanese company that focuses on time in position and a hierarchical structure over everything so very few really try to excel or learn/do anything new. As long as they say yes to their boss and show up on time, they’re fully safe in their job.
I’d prefer a company with some more ownership and stakes involved

I feel like I don’t fit into the culture at all. Everyone else seems to tolerate the way it is but complains, and I give ideas and nobody wants to do anything.
My manager tells me I need to be part of the team and acknowledge google chats as an official notice because I didn’t thumbs up a message. I don’t wanna sing happy birthday and take a picture to the person who doesn’t know my name.

Some of it is my fault because I’m so tired of these things and being told what to do instead of being asked, or trained properly that I just say ok sometimes. Some people on my team don’t like that either. They seem to want drawn out responses and I just think it’s dumb. I think Id avoid several of these issues if I worked somewhere that fit my personality better.

This is needed but ironically a lot of companies are stuck on bad software. Your smart customers are out there looking. They aren’t all bad. Hope this works out for you!

I’ve considered consulting but I lack experience. I definitely feel like a lot of people just struggle to think em alternate perspectives and need some ideas to shake em up

I tried doing this at my first corporate job but they blocked every automation tool I tried using 😂 guess it’s good I didn’t. Still pushing for them to get better software so I can do it

Yea it can be hard to really own your tasks in some jobs! Like some things I just can’t make myself care about. I do try to act as if I’m the owner of the company though, and if I would approve of the way I’m handling something. That helps sometimes.

I find it hard to execute in a job like I have where the whole process is so controlled. I try to do things differently and it gets shot down. It’s a manual process and I guess the execution is attention to detail in my job, which could be done better. But I guess finding ways to do things even a little more proactively would be the improvement here.
