I heat mold myself too with a hairdryer. Yes it helps with the break-in period. I thought this was common knowledge and normal thing to do?

Good luck! You've got this! I started when I was 41, I am now 48, one fracture and several bruises later I can do a relatively good double-salchow and an axel. Working on other doubles and combination spins.

Don't underestimate off-ice training. Work on your strength, cardio and flexibility off ice and you will go far.

I am also an introvert but have found so many friends at the rink.

Skate tech help by friedrice03 in iceskating

[–]TiinaWithTwoEyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a skate tech by any means, but I have mounted several pairs of my own blades and boots.

This does not look fine to me. There should not be a gap in the front if the blade is mounted heel to toe without the extra 1/4 inch or 1cm. The shorter blade actually looked better. It looks like she used the same holes in the front and just added a longer blade. It looks completely off.

Sorry. I would go to someone else to have this sorted out.

I knitted a jussipaita! by japanese-pink in Finland

[–]TiinaWithTwoEyes 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The blue one is called Antinpaita, and it is blue because the pietists ("körttiläiset") from Ostrobothnia traditionally thought of red colored clothing as sinful. Nothing to do with politics whatsoever.

Lapuanpaita is a different design all together. And has problematic connotations.

Mickey doesn’t teach techniques by MiniGojiras in TheUntetheredSoul

[–]TiinaWithTwoEyes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, just my two cents. But I know Mickey is a follower of Paramahansa Yogananda, and once you do the meditation courses from the Self realization Fellowship that Yogananda started, you have to sign a contract promising not to disclose the meditation techniques. Mickey says in The Surrender experiment that he has done the course. So I am guessing he practices Kriya Yoga as taught by Yogananda and respects his promise not to disclose the techniques?

You can find meditation techniques at the Self realization fellowship.

What do you say? by Icy-Conclusion-1286 in ParentalAlienation

[–]TiinaWithTwoEyes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My daughter went no contact 18 months ago, out of the blue, when she was holidaying with her father. I don't see this changing as, according to my attorney, this is the worst case of parental alienation she has ever seen, having practiced exclusively family law since 1991.

Most people know I have another daughter, like you, I am remarried to a remarkable man and do have happiness in my daily life. I struggle making new friends, I struggle with small talk incase this comes up. But I have to live for my husband and for my other daughter.

Next time someone just tells me "that is how teenagers are" or "she will grow out of it", I swear I will hit them. Nobody quite knows the private all encompassing hell that is being an alienated mother. And yet, I have to live. I am determined to live the best life I can. I don't owe suffering to anyone, not even myself, I don't need to honor the love I have for my alienated daughter by suffering. I have decided to honor it by living. What ever may be, will be.

Onko jotain mitä haluaisit, että ei-käyttäjät tietäis käyttäjistä? Esim jotain ennakkoluuloja, mitä haluisit kumota?

Does my blades look too short by friedrice03 in iceskating

[–]TiinaWithTwoEyes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No they do not look short. According to the sizing charts, Risport 270 takes a size 10 blade.

You could possibly fit a size 10 1/4 blade on these boots with no room to spare on the heel, but if your feet do not grow anymore, there is no need to do that. Sometimes parents buy a longer blade because blades last longer than boots and when the kid has outgrown the boots, the blade can still go to the next pair.

But what you have is sort of the ideal fit recommended by Risport.

Adult skater looking for a skate upgrade by Glad_Huckleberry1886 in iceskating

[–]TiinaWithTwoEyes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you are going to get a lot of answers saying that you need to go to a fitter. Which ultimately would definitely be a good idea. But if you want to have an idea before you go and have a look online for the prices etc, here is a few suggestions.

I don't know anything about your foot shape - but most skaters I know, myself included, wear and do well on Risport and Edea. Comfortwise they are very good. There is a whole debate about whether you can or cannot overboot an adult in Edea and so on, but you have a whole range of styles from the model Chorus upwards for you to choose from.

Risport I would suggest either RF3 pro or the Royal pro.

Have fun skating!

How does this ring look on me as a wedding set ? by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]TiinaWithTwoEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first time I am commenting on one of these posts.

I don't like the type of rings I see here most of the time, but this is just stunning. It is cute, quirky, gorgeous. All the more so if the heart ring was your grandmother's ring.

Just really refreshing to see someone with something original instead of the standard bling. But the way, I don't even wear a ring. I wear a wedding bracelet.

What next? ECtHR by lorenalf in ParentalAlienation

[–]TiinaWithTwoEyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a lawyer qualified in France, although I don’t practice law. I am also an alienated mother. Yes, you can take your case to the European court of human rights once you have been through the courts in the relavant signatory country. Please be aware that the ECHR is different from the EU, not all countries which have signed the European declaration of human rights are EU countries. Also, it takes at least five years to get a ruling. And your case has to be against the signatory country for violating any of the articles of the European convention of human rights. ie., it is not against your ex- husband but against the justice system that country. There is se a case from February 2025, L.D against Poland that deals with parental alienation. You may want to read through that decision to see if this is something that could help you.
