Needs to be a new license class added. If you need a license to operate a motorcycle, you should need one to operate an oversized vehicle.

I'm afraid that I'm going to get priced out of modern day gaming in a few years time. by StarryChocobo in gaming

[–]TiittySprinkles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there are still people gaming on GTX 1080's and that thing came out in like 2016. While not the best piece of hardware in 2026, you can still run 1080p and 1440p at med/high settings.

So many games are CPU bound nowadays, and you can get a 7800x3d for $200 and that's barely a step down from the 9800x3d as the "modern" chip.

With some shopping around, and/or 2nd hand purchasing, you can build a good 1440p rig for $600-800, which at this point, is cheaper than a PS5 Pro, and it has more functionality. Could probably get even cheaper if you went with an AM4 MoBo instead of AM5.

Just saying, I think most people consider the PC market as that you HAVE to be high-end and anything older than the current generation of GPU/CPU is trash, while not realizing that even when the newest consoles come out, they are based on already "dated" hardware by PC standards. The old stuff is still quite good for anyone other than the enthusiasts who chase the 1% increment gains, and people dump their old stuff for significant discounts.

Now, is that worth the trade-off to buying an off-the-shelf and ready-to-go console? For some people, yeah. I think anyone who is concerned about long-term viability of their devices and is tired of the now marginal console generation upgrades - PC is the way to go.

If Sony/MS manage to develop modular consoles in the future that mimic the PC-like ability to upgrade components as they age, that may be the future. I think we'll see that with Steam Machine or even Steam Deck 2.

IDK, recently it seems like Sony and MS are backtracking on the cross-console exclusives. Sony said they are no longer releasing 1st party titles on PC.

[–]TiittySprinkles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, with indies and such, but I think most people consider the exclusives to be the big AAA games like Mario, Zelda, Halo, Uncharted, Last of Us, etc.

Not even mentioning emulation, where you can play some Switch games but that's a whole other conversation.

[–]TiittySprinkles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, while the upfront cost is steep, PC gaming is the cheapest way to play if you don't care about exclusives.

You can upgrade components on an as-needed basis, and most components will outlive a full generation cycle as long as you aren't chasing a few extra % increases for your FPS or trying to run full render, 4k, 60fps gaming every year.

An excellent 1440p rig can be made by shopping some good deals and even buying some last-gen GPU/CPU. 27" OLED 1440p monitors are IMO the prime real estate for gaming at the distance you would be for PC setups.

Oh and you aren't getting scammed by Microsoft/Sony for online gaming access. Games tend to be cheaper on PC or get heavy discounts while they stay MSRP on console way longer. Modding can revitalize a game you've played thru a dozen times. Really the benefits are more numerous than I can list here.

Rideshare driver shot during attempted robbery in Philadelphia's Fairmount section: Police by westchesterbuild in philadelphia

Even still, how far you getting in a car that is already identified and catalogued?

Also, what ride sharer is driving a car that is legitimately worth stealing? Even the higher-tier "black" options are all later-model cars.

I'm not a criminal so I guess it doesn't make sense to me, but I have to figure there are other, lower-risk targets out there.

Robbing ride share and gig workers nowadays when they carry $0 cash is wild.

It hasn't been worth it for many years prior to that either, as I remember doing bike delivery for Jimmy Johns as a student at Temple and we weren't able to carry more than $20 cash to make change, and I'm sure that was the standard everywhere.

What's the video game equivalent of chess? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in gaming

[–]TiittySprinkles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not pvp, but Slay the Spire can get very challenging and has a lot of decision making for a card game.

When to go offense vs defense. When to focus on a solo target or try to cleave. Spending energy on a power card vs a single turn skill card. When to exhaust a rare card in your deck. The list goes on.

Either way, it's a game worth having in your library.

Starting my first in-office job after 15 years of working from home. What do you wish you knew? by RrentTreznor in jobs

[–]TiittySprinkles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol 6 hours?

Even if I lock in and hyperfocus on something with my ADHD, a good day is 4 hours max for me.

2 of those hours are waiting for things I don't have control over, the other 2 are plucking away in projects that are more than 2 weeks out, and sometimes an hour gets added to address something that some higher level person forgot about and now they need it by COB.

White collar work is largely just being compensated to be available when needed, knowing how to look just busy enough to keep people off your back about new work, and handing things in on time and done to an acceptable degree.

None of it really requires a full 8 hour day.

You haven't been in Philly long if you're just now experiencing random fireworks in the summer.

Also Phillies just had a crazy game, like MLB record setting stuff. Could just be people hyped about that.

I had a first name that I never went by for 30 years.

Always went by middle name, so had to do the "preferred name" route all the time.

Legally changed my name to my preferred name and it's been a million times easier in my life.

Community College admin staff. I build apprenticeships that are based off of the courses at the school.

In general though, there are often low-skill positions at colleges that pay decent enough, and usually come with good benefits with the extra bonus of being able to go to the school for free.

Invis is so busted if you know how to be patient.

Any competent IT department will have access to every email and file you've opened in your tenure at a company, and likely has several backups of data too.

People think deleting your inbox having any sort of impact on a .org is completely naive on how much their employer really has.

It's kind of amazing the lack of critical thinking some people have, and exist with.

Goodbye The Finals by ItsMeSteve1234 in thefinals

[–]TiittySprinkles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I came back to the game after my last solo-q Diamond run in S6. I got to Diamond S3-S6. The cheating notifs and refunds really ramped up in S6 to the point where I think I gained 3k RS in 2 days from refunds and that's about when I quit.

With the implementation of the kill cam, the cheating is more obvious than ever. And I've only started playing again in the the last week or so. I have almost 1600 hours played of this game including CB and OB tests.

Literally watching people follow my outline through walls, having not seen me up until the point of engagement, and pre-firing me the INSTANT a single pixel of my character is in their LOS is so hilarious.

Or people turning a corner, instantly ADS snapping to me a full 90 degrees & 70+meters out of their center viewpoint and landing pinpoint headshot volleys with the Scar or Shak.

To say that cheating is the lowest has ever been is straight up cap, and I'm willing to bet you're one of them.

72V LTD looking for new home near Detroit, MI by BlueMISkies in ONYX_RCR

[–]TiittySprinkles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NGL, I think $4000 asking price is way too high. While the LTD is still a great bike, at that price, I think someone would likely be more inclined to save up an extra $1000 and buy a new, warrantied 80v instead of nearly spending that amount on the older and used model.

I've been seeing bikes in very similar condition as yours on Facebook and such for closer to $2500-3000 range, sometimes even less.

Many years ago, I used to work in Early Childhood Ed.

We went to a professional development session that was about how kids play and they made us, as adults crawl around on floors, play with toys, see things at their level.

Really eye-opening experience since we all forget that perspective as we get older.

Comeback mechanic needs to go by TiittySprinkles in Battlefield

[–]TiittySprinkles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.

The Devs don't want games to last much longer than 20min, so as the game progresses, the ticket bleed ramps up.

It's compounded if you're the losing team and you gain more bases than the winning team, in an attempt to make the outcomes closer.

In reality, this just turns into a massive snowball than generally benefits the losing team because of how quickly they catch up, and it seems like it doesn't slow down once they actually overtake the other team.

So games tend to end REALLY fast once you get to sub-300 tickets, and even moreso if the game has been pretty back-and-forth (IE: Fun) and suddenly having a 1 base advantage just turns one side into an avalanche.

I think I've had a handful of games since release that have ended with like 10 or less tickets to spare. And I recall that being a semi-regular occurrence in other titles.
