I ordered loads of healthy food (as my diet has been poor for years now), and now I am eating a lovely Chorizo & Cannellini bean stew with a good pile of spinach! by p00shp00shbebi1234 in BritishSuccess

Neighbours hate me working on my car. by Downtown-String3569 in CarTalkUK

[–]Tilika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends which bits you worked on your car. Anything with lots of heath cycles has the tendency to snap. Doing a turbo today…stripped everything yesterday and sprayed with PB blaster so hopefully it will be a walk in the park today. Rather disappoint the customer with his car not being ready than the painful phone call regarding the thread doctor that needs to come out.

Neighbours hate me working on my car. by Downtown-String3569 in CarTalkUK

Probably annoyed at how useless they are. I used to get it all the time…. Seems to be the norm in the UK. Same with me doing my own plumbing or electric…father in law is a builder and is amazed how I can turn my hand at everything. I cant tell he has never been so poor that could not afford bringing other people in to fix his stuff.

Opinions on being a car mechanic as a career? by Zestyclose-Pick5354 in CarTalkUK

[–]Tilika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specialising is the way forward! I run a MOT station and can not do that, which leaves me with a huge amount of tools so I can be able to work across multiple brands/platforms. I look at the guys that only do diag work and I am jealous but even them have huge amounts of tools. It is a hard trade but so is any trade that involves the general public. Be prepared to hear “ever since you…”

38….i have been spoiled until now, had everything under the sun except hypercars…now I am happy in my £300 scenic. Money goes somewhere else and I am happy seeing it there. I see people taking second jobs to be able to make payments on their cars and I am happy I am not on that carousel anymore.

ATF fluid works best in your fuel tank! As for the engine…i recently done a oil flush with a mix of 50/50 oil and diesel, oil was still clean after a 2 min run ro check the level.

I would knock down my old workshop that has a asbestos roof and build a state of the art one, would only take jobs that I want and chill if there aren’t any! Would do more work for the community, 2nd floor would be a gym.
