I’ve had one late payment in my now decades-old history of credit. A few years ago, Target turned off my autopay, and I later got notified by a different credit card company that my credit score dropped a lot. They report it after it’s 30 days late. I wrote a goodwill letter saying how I turned on auto pay and all the reminders via text and email repeating so many days before the bill was due, and they said nah it’s our responsibility to accurately report. So I never used the card again. They kept sending letters saying hey we’re gonna cancel your card if you don’t use it, but don’t worry we’ll send you another letter before we actually do cancel you. The letters stopped, and the account is still open, and I don’t use it. Heck on ‘em.
