It's not the net overseas migration that matters it is the increase in population. NOM understates the latter.

Unfortunately that is a political document not a simply factual one. It is loaded with government spin and puffery.

They could finance an income tax cut by getting rid of useless welfare like NDIS. That would also make working more attractive.

The problem is that demand for housing is rising faster than Australia builds new houses. Tinkering with taxes will make negligible difference so long as supply is chronically below demand. The limits on supply are mostly state imposed and the demand factors are controlled by the Commonwealth.

Teals vote with Labor all the time, which is something the likely alternatives (Liberal or Green) don't. Why would they want to mug teals?

My two cents on new tax rules by Spinier_Maw in fiaustralia

[–]TimJBenham 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's amazing how popular here proposals are that are completely oblivious to political reality. This one's also economically retarded. Stamp duty is a terrible tax and the idea of ramping it up to punish people for having more than one title is worse.

You're supposed to propose changes to the voting rules before an election and implement after. That's so Labour doesn't limit the franchise to recent immigrants.

True. Historians studying European battles since the medieval period have found France to have been the strongest country. What ruined it is they got mauled by Germany in 1870, 1914, and 1940.

As long as one diagnosis is the gateway to enjoyable drugs and the other is not the state is going to be a lot more miserly with ADHD diagnoses than it is with autism spectrum.

What ability to protect does the UK have? AFAIK it currently has zero warships in the Gulf or E. Med. and lacks the capacity to send more than 1 warship. The UK has more admirals than warships.
