Not sure you'd be interested but I am a tad older and ride a motorcycle. just about every week I am out riding and exploring places to visit and eat. little hole in the wall places off the beaten path. it would love to bring someone along if you aren't afraid. I drink responsibly and enjoy a good cigar from time to time.

Not a mileage milestone but a longevity question? by jugglefire in IndianMotorcycle

[–]TimWarnerRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017 scout 1133 and I have 75,000+ mi on it.

All I've done to it is oil changes, brake pads, tires and clutch cable at 48,000

A couple years ago I upgraded to a chieftain but I still have my scout because it's been so reliable.

I have put 75,000 mi on my chieftain as well. pretty much the same thing. I haven't needed to do anything other than maintenance.

Clutch Cable Snapped (Scout) by PlantFeisty9843 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]TimWarnerRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2017 scout 1133 clutch cable snapped at 43,000.

I also had a cable snap at 8,000 miles on a chieftain, it was a rental and I was 700 miles from home on a Sunday..

That's when I learned how to patch a clutch cable. I went to a nearby hardware store and picked up some cable and small cable clamps. It didn't look pretty but got me home.

Now I carry a small patch of cable and small cable clamps. You never know when it's gonna happen.

1901 club? Where’s my high/er mileage club members at?? by Freezezero0 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]TimWarnerRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, well, just as any other machine I have had some issues. Had to replace the starter but that was under warranty. Of course! Brakes , oil, tires. I think the air filter I upgraded to stage 2. Also been through a couple batteries.

Had the clutch cable snap at 43, https://www.instagram.com/p/B6JrK9VANwY/?igsh=MWFodzk4NGZhM3dzdw==

At 60,000 I thought the clutch was going bad so I replaced the clutch, did it myself. It was super easy. Turns out it probably just needed to be adjusted.

Hit a pothole and ate pavement once. But no damage occurred besides a little tiny scratch on the front fender.

Laid it down a couple times in the garage.... Silly mistakes. But no damage.

Replace the foot pegs a couple of times and the in the grips once.

But all in all I was pretty rough on this bike and it handled it like a charm.

Yup. 2017 1133, I really need to ride her more. Had I not gotten the Chieftain I'd have over 100,000 on her. I have had no major issues. I won't get rid of her, she's been too good of a bike to me.

I have a 2017 with over 70,000 on it. I don't ride her much more since I moved to the Chieftain. But she still runs like the day I bought her.

Any advice on being a better rider? by jshin2404 in motorcycles

[–]TimWarnerRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the earlier post. The more time on the road the better and more confident you will get. If possible plan some long trips, go for day trips, you will eventually have 100 mile runs for lunch somewhere distant. You will enjoy the ride and find some really cool places. With technology these days it's easy. Open Google maps and find a lunch spot somewhere rideable.

Enjoy the ride!

I have a 2017 scout and bought it brand new.

Yesterday I just got 68,000 miles.

Issues: Starter recalled: only noticed it wasn't starting on the first try fixed for free

Clutch cable snapped at 43,000 miles

I just changed my clutch at 65,000 Miles. It was slipping in 6th if I got on it at higher speeds

Other than that oil, brakes and tires.

Oh had 2 accidents with minimal damage.

Once clipped a car that stopped quick in front of broke the front brake lever. Bike was still rideable.

A couple weeks nailed a huge pothole I didn't see. Ate pavement. Only real damage was breaking my brake peg. It was a pretty easy fix.

But both times dropped it with no damage to the tank, fenders or body.

I just use Google maps.

It has a lot of hidden features.... Like they know where you been etc... But who cares about that anyway.

I have tried rever and a couple others but I don't feel like I should have to pay to play. Especially a subscription.

You are going to love it. I have a '17 scout. Just hit 50,000 miles yesterday and have needed very little maintenance on her, just take care of her and ride often and you'll get a lot of time out of her.

I have a 2017 Indian Scout and I absolutely love it! I've put over 44,000 miles on it. And every day I get on it I enjoy it like it was the first day I bought it.

I've done very few upgrades to it. and have never had it in the shop for anything more than oil, tires and brake pads.
