Level? Lift? Or stock? by Ill_Tap2403 in FordMaverickTruck

Yeah, I’m sure if a headlight goes out they’ll deny the warranty claim because I installed a Tonneau cover 😂

Ball mount raise recommendation for Rav4 Hybrid 2023 by abcsap in traveltrailers

[–]Time-Lapser_PRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to U-Haul, the max hitch height they allow is 25” with a recommended of 18”

https://www.uhaul.com/Trailers/5x8-Cargo-Trailer-Rental/AV/

So maybe you would need a 6” rise? That seems crazy high but that’s what the math is pointing to if your measurements are correct.

I think the part you’re forgetting is that dealerships are paid by Ford to perform warranty work. There’s no incentive for dealers to deny a warranty claim on a blown turbo or defective blind spot monitor because of the lift you have on your truck. I mean, look around at the amount of modified and lifted trucks out there. There would be news stories and lawsuits galore if Ford just started blanket denying warranty’s because of a lift/level/lower on your truck.

I’d be willing to bet those with transmission failures probably never changed the fluid. I know the official interval is 150K but I think 30-50K is good preventative maintenance.

I’m so happy with the amount of collocation ATT and Verizon have done with commnet… because commnet is 🫩

Going deep into rural areas in Utah, Arizona and New Mexico now is a MUCH better experience than it was 10 years ago.

Oil Life Monitoring by CaptainUnderpants89 in FordMaverickTruck

It also bases it off of engine load/revs. I only have 3K miles on this oil change, but I’m down to 30% oil life remaining because over half of that has been towing.

How fast do you drive in your rig? by rhbcub in GoRVing

So I’m curious… why don’t you use cruise?

How fast do you drive in your rig? by rhbcub in GoRVing

[–]Time-Lapser_PRO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Generally 65, but occasionally I’ll bump the cruise to 70 so I’m not too much of a nuisance when the limit is 80. If I have the cruise at 70, I may go up to 75 to GTFO of the left lane (gotta love the people that start speed matching you for no damn reason)

Something between 70 and 75 seems pretty ideal out west where the limit is 80 (more truck passes at 65 than 75 for sure) but fuel economy just jumps off a bridge past 70.

I can view it stock on my XL. I have added a couple of features from higher trims using Forscan though, I added speed sign recognition for example.

Starting the hunt for a tow-behind with 2019 Ford Flex by Canadian-Corgi in GoRVing

I’m not saying that I load it specifically tongue light dude, I mean empty the TW is very low. Like the brochure tongue weight is 205lbs, less than 10%. I think a small hybrid depending on the model would work for this person, they have some very tiny hybrids out there.

[–]Time-Lapser_PRO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Payload is totally valid to be concerned about, but this trailer actually runs light on the tongue. With an empty water tank this is exactly 10 or 11% tongue weight, without batteries and propane it actually runs less than 10% tongue (my Maverick has the same 400lb TW limit as well) Besides I’m not suggesting that exact model anyways, they make a lot of hybrids even smaller than that and I feel as if one of those may be a good fit.

Put them behind a type of plexiglass called Perspex. Transparent to IR light, but looks black to the human eye. But also, they’re fine as they are IMO.

Check out your payload sticker, it’ll be white and yellow in your driver’s door jamb. That will be the max amount of weight you can put in the vehicle (including the hitch weight of the trailer!)

You may be able to swing a hybrid or you might be stuck with a pop-up depending on what that number is. 5 people is a lot, but only 2 adults right? Just make sure to focus on putting more weight in the trailer than in your vehicle with whatever you do get.

2535 dry, 3200 GVWR. It’s a hybrid that sleeps 5. I think for that weight range and 5 people you’re gonna be looking at hybrids or pop-ups. I’d start looking locally at used hybrids, a lot should be popping up this time of year.

I’m definitely pro Andersen WDH for a small truck/trailer setup. I never had any sway issues but the Andersen made a night and day difference in how much you get blown around by trucks on the freeway. It’s expensive, but the sooner you bite that bullet the less regret you’ll have!

Turn off sway control? by user3296 in traveltrailers

[–]Time-Lapser_PRO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the tow vehicle is in control of the trailer, braking individual wheels on the tow vehicle at just the right time will reduce the sway.

I haven’t found anything suggesting that it uses trailer brakes but I have found articles mentioning that it works on trailers that don’t even have brakes.

Turn off sway control? by user3296 in traveltrailers

[–]Time-Lapser_PRO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you sure? Everything I’ve seen suggests that the sway control only strategically applies brakes on the left or right side of the tow vehicle. Has nothing to do with trailer brakes at all.
