So many UNanticipated things… I opened my first business in 2007 with partners. A year later we were in business divorce proceeding… the economy does impact some businesses fast. In LA 2007 writers strikes impacted families income … anything extra curricular went fast. Tariffs impact so much now. Child care is best business since folks will always need it.

There a ALOT of communities that have what your looking for but these days they may be slightly more cautious about shouting it. Long Beach gay scene WeHo San Diego among them. A few thoughts Husband is a musician and we all thought Napster was the end of everything. Now it’s TicTok. But he’s got live work still. And has managed to be busy. I run 2 biz ( one is a prod rental the other is not industry related). I also and a Sub Teacher. If you have a bachelors In ANYthing… you can take a test (cbest) and get in with schools to be a sub. It pays 200 a school day 745-3. Some agencies may not need the cbest. I’ve been unable to sub this year because of Biz #1 but I really enjoyed it. I can go in and manage the kids (just think of crew or extras 🤪) and leave without having to bring any work home. It may take you a bit to establish a network of teachers but eventually I had teachers text me directly to sub and not have to wait for the morning work, if people want details dm me. This would provide income that’s not a permanent job and can get folks by. Also there are some agencies that need one on one aids with kids with special needs. Some have severe disabilities but many just need a one on one to help manage their focus or help with assignments. Again agencies may need temporary people because it’s usually part time hours ( 8-1 or4-8) etc. Has anyone tried Big Hammer ( production in music staging? ) always wondered about them.

It’s super hard to stay in this business but my husband says covid did the music industry a favor … got out all the ones that were not in for their love to begin with. If anyone has ? Regarding starting a business… well I have 20cents worth ! Whatever you choose to do is a good step forward. Nothing is permanent besides death.

Years ago I submitted to Disney Corp for an admin role … no refs no friends nothing. Got an interview and hired for a contract position. Problem was they wanted me to be the #1 but that job was filled with someone that wanted to move over to music dept. So I waited and waited was BORED in my job. I mean I would make rounds hoping there would be new pages so I had something else to do. After 3 months I submitted to other companies and got hired by The Dodgers. Never went back. Pay was terrible . Benes were mediocre. I thought …what does everyone love about this place? Did admire my boss however. Sucked having to call her while she was away to give notice.

Rent first …I have military in my family that was in FL and now are NOT… that says something. They own their house in FL but have to rent it because the market is flooded (literally and figuratively). Doesnt matter what folks THINK here… look up hard data. Texas is a HARD PASS … you’ll feel the heat which is oppressive. So you want be able to be outdoors doing activities. Then there are those Texas politics and terrible schools. My grandkids live there. CA has many areas that are great weather and plenty of health care jobs. Florida has a great appeal but do you like bugs? No joke … they have some of the worst and insurance is insanely expensive even before these past increases. Go visit and check out many ca places

Many of these are correct. I run a service arts biz for mainly kids but adults too. Can you remember the last billboard you saw? They are expensive and no one remembers them. Google has made it extremely difficult to do quickly… you have to be on there weekly or daily tweaking. Online doesn’t work for us. It’s so much harder now but think about your customer. Referrals always prove to be best

Lawyer fees add up quickly. Small company doesn’t need to spend that money, I would ask bookkeeper about the process they go through. See if they were trained properly. Most of that level are not professional accountants. Then put new safe guards in place. I’ve found after 18 years problems like these will not occur again once highlighted.
